"We had recently stayed at this beautiful cottage with magnificent waterviews this past Fourth of July, and words alone cannot express from Beginning to End~ how happy we were, the weather alone cooperated nicely, as the whole month of June was a complete washout, when we first arrived, and walked around back, the view alone was unbelievable, we saw the Eagle within 20 minutes of us arriving, the cottage is secluded and private, which is what we were both looking for, the amenities within the cabin are endless, there was not one thing, that was forgotten, we truly felt at home here, if you are looking for Peace and Quiet, you will certainly find it here, the walks along the beach, to the left of the cottage every morning, and looking for mussels, to the Beautiful Fireworks display, this little town put on, was so memorable, I cannot wait to come back next year! Frank & Tina" - Frank & Tina, Methuen, Mass., 08/12/09 (inquire/book) "Our week has been perfect. We have enjoyed ourselves. We arrived last Saturday, so Sunday we walked up to the beach and tried to find Tall Barneys. Monday we headed north, took in Quoddy lighthouse, Lubec- Monica’s chocolates are to die for! Saw Eastport and Calais. I woudn’t recommend the Townhouse Restaurant. Tuesday we went south, stopped at the Bartlett Estate Winery. I am not much of a wine drinker but everything we tasted was excellent. We had 2 bottles send home and brought one back to the cottage. We found that the favorite restaurant while here was the Bluebird Ranch in Machias. We had beautiful weather up to Friday when it rained most of the day. This was a wonderful experience and I have to say that I wish the week wasn’t ending. Mike and Cindy, you have provided the perfect getaway. Thanks for the experience." - Richard and Heather, Zumbrota, MN, 09/27/07 (inquire/book) "What an amazing vacation! It’s hard to believe our week is already over. Perfect weather, cool mornings and evenings, warm days. Beautiful views! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet. We were also lucky enough to meet with some locals; we took a short trip in the causeway on their lobster boat and Curt went out with them the next morning. To do lobster fishing, eight miles out. Thanks for making this the honeymoon of a lifetime!" - Amy and Curt, Brookfield, WI, 09/07/07 (inquire/book) "Cindy and Mike, What a charming place; it was one of the best vacations we've had. The view is breath-taking and a pleasure to wake up to every day. The lobsters were fantastic, had the pleasure of meeting someone that give us the connection to buy them. The neighbors next door were very nice and gave us some good tips onwhat to enjoy during our stay. Thanks for making our stay in Jonesport such a pleasure." - Thomas and MaryAnn, Schenectady, NY, 09/07/07 (inquire/book) "Quintessential Maine. In daylight, breathtaking vistas and the eternal struggle of ocean versus rockbound shore. At night, fog creeps in on little cats feet (Dickinson). Loved every minute! Ken I was never a morning person until this cottage. I didn’t want to miss a single sunrise! The finches will entertain you as you sit outside with your morning coffee. What an incredibly relaxing spot. Puffins, seals, a whale, sea birds and butterflies – all on a wonderful cruise by Capt. Norton to Machias Seal Island. For an absolutely divine meal go to Riverview Inn in East Machias – you have to make reservations – food was delicious; warm friendly service too! For comic relief there are the local homemade signs – “Chipmunks Crossing” and the unforgettable “Rats, Clams, and Firewood”…(hmmm, tempting, but I think I’ll hold out for steamers!) Edde " - Ken and Eddi, Lowell, MA, 08/07/07 (inquire/book) "Truly this is the ideal “cottage by the sea.” We arrived late on Saturday when it was dark. We all were tired and went right to sleep. Our introduction to Maine was this breathtaking view. Each morning we spent time, drinking coffee and taking in the awesome coast. As true to our tourist nature, we traveled from Campobello to Bass Harbor, taking in the local sites one afternoon at a time. Despite the travel, we still took time in the morning to enjoy the cottage. Some of the more memorable local sites: watching harbor seals along the coast at Great Wass Island Nature Conservancy, discovering the unique sound of the ocean waves on pebbles at Jasper Beach; being entertained by the Machias historical society at Barnham Tavern; eating fresh caught lobster and mussels; and of course blueberries, blueberries, blueberries! We had a wonderful week and a true Maine experience. Thanks!" - Mark, Elaine, Jason, Jackson, Matthews, VA, 08/07/07 (inquire/book) "What a wonderful place for a Maine family vacation! We enjoyed breakfast on the deck and the wonderful views. We visited a local blueberry farm and had fun at the Machias blueberry festival. Day trips to Acadia and seak kayaking were offset with lazy days here at the cottage. Thanks for making this place easy to vacation in by providing so many of the basics – it makes the whole experience all the better." - Jeff, Jen, Ian, Bekah, Media, PA, 08/07/07 (inquire/book) "Cindy and Mike, thanks for a wonderful location. How peaceful everyday . We had a full moon this week which was wonderful. The cottage was very comfortable. The mornings were great with coffee on the deck. The first day had lunch with friends in Eastport. Went to Bar Harbor, Campobello Island and Eastport again. One day we stayed right here. We certainly needed something like this - haven’t had a vacation in four years. Thanks for everything." - Jan and Ron, Stoneham, MA, 08/07/07 (inquire/book) "The cottage was welcoming and well supplied. We enjoyed the grill and other amenities. View was soothing, Unfortunately, we got a lot of rain so no puffin tour due to the weather. Drove to Acadia; the park was gorgeous. Campobello is lovely, highly recommend both East and West Quoddy Lighhouses. Also recommend Bayside Chocolate (Monica’s) in Lubec. We enjoyed the unpretentious hospitality – a quality we are losing in our part of Colorado." - Jane and Keith, Evergreen, CO, 07/07/07 (inquire/book) "Second visit to the cottage. The weather cooperated with us again this year. No rain; had a couple of days up in the 90s. What a relaxing week! Mike, you did a good job on the deck. Took one day at a time to just enjoy the water, weather, and visiting. Thanks for the use of your cottage, Cindy and Mike; just what we needed after looking forward to it for a year." - Fred and Gini, Bangor, ME, 07/07/07 (inquire/book) "This is our third time at the cottage. Each time is better than the last. Fog (am) for a few days. Beautiful on the other days. The cottage stays so nice and cool. Didn’t do much as we just usually visit and go to Machias. New tearoom in Machias next to Dunkin’ Doughnuts. Had fresh green beens and cukes from a roadside stand. Life is good! Thanks!" - Dona, Salem, CT, 07/07/07 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Our week here has been great! We have enjoyed the amazing views and the break from the humidity back home in Illinois. Some of our favorite activities while we were here was our trip in to Eastport and our 3 hour trip on the Sylvania Beal Schooner whale watching trip. Even though it was tricky to find, we saw the reversing falls in Pembroke. They were unique and something you must see. The view from Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park was spectacular and worth a trip. We traveled the LONG drive down to shop in Freeport, which was okay however, as we enjoyed stopping in the towns on the way back on Route 1 (like Camden). My sister and I really liked the food at the Blue Bird Ranch in Machias (blueberry pancakes and blueberry cream pie were delicious!!). Also, after y shop in Bar Harbor make sure to walk the shore path along the coast. The location of the cottage is perfect and we wish we could stay longer. " - Melissa and Amanda, Chrisman, IL; Avon, IN, 06/30/07 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We’re delighted to be back after 4 years. The cottage is just as we remembered it: so warm and welcoming; so neat and clean. The weather was perfect: a nice balance of cool and clear, mixed with sunny and overcast conditions. No fog. There was a soft rain one night which lulled us to sleep after the most spectacular double rainbow. Only one of the arcs was complete, but the effect was breathtaking as they both rose over Bar Island – certainly a sight none of us will every forget. We foraged for mussels and other shellfish every day with great success. Fiona sighted dolphins one day, and the eagles were with us every day, sometimes flying so close to the deck one could almost touch them. There appears to be some nest-building activity and some boundary setting between adults and immature birds. On our last trip we took day trips to the Bar Harbor/Acadia/Ellsworth areas. This time we went north to Lubec/Campobello/Cutler/Machias. The many maps and books and brochures were useful – helpful – and deeply appreciated. Thank you, Mike and Cindy, for your many thoughtful appointments throughout, including notes and scrapbooks! The week has flown by, and we will miss the grandeur of the Bold Coast in its raw juxtaposition to this cozy cottage. Appreciatively, Kay, Neil, and Fiona, Mercersburg, PA " - Kay, Neil, and Fiona, Mercersburg, PA, 06/16/07 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We arrived at the cottage on Saturday evening after a 13 hour drive from Delaware. Our week here was wonderful – we kept busy hiking, canoeing and fishing. Some of the places we fished are: Cathance Lake, Schoodic Lake, Pleasant River, Tunk Lake, Fox Pond, Rocky Lake, Bay Lake, and Keeley Lake. Caught small and large mouth bass, brook trout, pickerel, and perch. Also bought lobster at the coop and enjoyed it at the cottage. We really enjoyed the sights from the deck each breakfast and dinner. It is always a joy to see bald eagles, but we also saw 1 immature and 1 subadult. Other sightings included a working lobster boat, common eiders, great black backed gulls, seals and pups, loons and cormorants. The night sky was awesome! No light pollution. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality – the amenities (& hot water!) were greatly appreciated." - Betsy and Vince, Bear, DE, 06/09/07 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: What a beautiful and cozy cottage here at the ocean’s edge. We were lucky enough to be here for the full moon. It was so awesome seeing the moon glistening on the water. Just watching the tide coming in and going out was so relaxing. This has been a very wonderful week for us. Our favorite restaurant was the White House; the meals were very plentiful and reasonable. We also got to see Nova Scotia on the CAT. That was a fun day trip. Went to Acadia National Park on Ole’s trolley and learned interesting facts about the park and Bar Harbor. Saw FDR’s summer home on Campobello. The countryside here in this Downeast Maine is very pretty, especially this time of year. The cottage is perfect; with so many nice touches you have added makes it very special. Thanks for a wonderful week. We will treasure our memories at the Cottage by the Sea." - Pam and Don, Stoneham, MA, 10/06/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook, 9-16-2006 to 9-30-2006 Fall is my favorite season and the two weeks here have been delightful. With the exception of one foggy day, the temps during the day have been 65 to 75 and then cooling down at night. We went to Campobello and both the Quoddy lighthouses. We shopped, ate lobster and soaked up some sun. My favorite trip was to the Schoodic area. Watching the waves pound on the rocks was beautiful. My cameras have been working full time. The locals are extremely friendly, the ladies at the Jonesport library were so helpful when I had some research to do. I’m certainly going to miss the cottage, the spectacular views, the changes from low to high tide and back again, and the relaxation that comes from being in a safe and comfortable environment. " - Ann and Michelle, Derry, NH, 09/16/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We arrived on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and watched two eagles fly onto Bar island almost immediately. Neighbors in the cottage next door came running over to say it was the first sighting in three weeks. The weather has been perfect, including one foggy day. We’ve enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the birds, seals, and day to day changes of the tides. The cottage has every possible comfort of home. You have anticipated all that one might need from the notebook to the binoculars! Thank you for sharing your Cottage by the Sea. We will treasure our memories of this little piece of heaven." - Anne and Scott, Wellesley, MA, 09/09/06 (inquire/book) "what's with the pink?" - roger & noreen richard, thompson ct 06277, 09/05/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We had a wonderful week here. Looking out the window makes it easy to forget about things like your job, cutting the lawm, driving in traffic jams, etc. So peaceful and serence. As usual, everyone we met, in restaurants, stores, neighbors and especially Buz and Helen Beal of the model railroad, was so friendly. We enjoyed the Blueberry Festival in Machias, a puffin cruise out of Milbridge, and Roque Bluffs. Bought lobster 2 times at Bushey’s Rte 1 in Milbridge and at the coop, and clams at Atlantic Shellfish. Numerous yard sales, Eastport, Bar Harbor, walked out to the island other adventures! Everything we needed was available in the cottage and very handy. Thanks for the use of the phone card, nice addition. Thanks for the memories!" - Jim and Marlene, N. Billerica, MA, 08/26/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We love the cottage! It is better in person. When we arrived it was dark, but we walked out on the deck for a glimpse of the water. We were surprised to find the most beautiful starry sky with shooting stars everywhere – we had not even unpacked the car and we were already blown away! We had wonderful weather all week - one foggy day which we all loved! We did Great Wass island, which was beautiful. We hiked the Long Point Trail and saw whale bones (skull and spine) or a female humpback. We did many walks to Bar Island - collecting shells and taking in the peaceful view. Went to Acadia Natl Park and had dinner in Bar Harbor. Also took a whale-watching tour out of Eastport on the Sylvania Beal, an historic 84’ schooner. That was incredible – highly recommended – we saw so many whales (minke, humpback) seals and eagles. The kids had fun collecting rocks on Jasper Beach. Every night we went to the coop in Jonesport and bought their lobsters! They were the best lobsters we have every had. Of course, they were followed with the best blueberry pie we have ever had! We really enjoyed our vacation. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the panoramic view is spectacular! The Maine coast was a fabulous vacation for our family!" - John, Sandra, Matthew Kathleen, Simsbury,CT, 08/19/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: This week has been great! Absolutely love the view! It is so peaceful. I got lots of pictures of the water and the sky. The cottage was nice and cozy. I slept in the loon room. The walkie-talkies came in handy when some of us went kayaking and others stayed. Jack loved looking through the telescope to see the moon since he wants to be an astronaut when he’s older. The binoculars were handy too to look out to see the islands and boats. At night we saw some shooting stars. At low tide we went for walks across to Bar Island and picked up lots of shells. We also went up to West Quoddy and got good shots. Very pretty scenery. Just had the right temperature and sunny days up here. Also, go to Monica’s Chocolates in Lubec – yum! The chocolate-covered blueberries and bon bons are really good. This trip has been very enjoyable and relaxing, and I hope we come again next year." - CC, Sam, and Jack, Maryland, 08/12/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: What a beautiful week! When I found Cottage by the Sea online, it looked perfect for us – when we actually saw it for the first time, we realized that it was even better than we expected! We think your view is probably one of the best along this part of the coast! I could have sat in the back yard and watched the water and sky for most of our visit. Trying to be as adventurous as we used to be in Maine was a little more challenging with a 7-week old. The beautiful thing about it is that I saw some amazing sunrises every morning through the wonderful picture window! And, thanks to my wonderful 12-year old stepdaughter, I was able to paddle our kayak with my husband and our other son one day below the cottage. This is a great place to kayak. Helen and Buzz Beal, the owners of the model train exhibit just up the road, have a perfect place for visit with a train-maniac 2-year old. We bought lobsters at the local coop and had a delicious dinner right here at the cottage. Thank you for all the great things stocked at the cottage – we came “loaded for bear” and found that much of what we had brought was already provided – so we just added to the stock. Thank you, thank you! We hope to be back next year!" - Kathleen, Pete and family, Glen Burnie, MD, 08/05/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: What a cottage. Feels like home, but a much better view. Enjoyed exploring all the nooks and crannies around here. The locals were very friendly, but then again we are in the state of Maine. The weather really cooperated with us this year, just a little rain. Last night we were treated to a beautiful lightning storm that lit up the kitchen living room area with the lights off. Look forward to this again next year as it rejuvenates the soul." - Fred and Gini, Bangor, ME, 07/28/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: You have such a nice spot here. We have never been far from California. We had a beautiful thunder and lightning storm one night. Everyone around here is so courteous and helpful. It was wonderful walking into your cottage and feeling right at home." - Bonnie and Pat, San Francisco, CA, 07/15/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Just here for 3 days. Highly recommend the coastal trail at the Quoddy lighthouse. Mt. Gorham at Acadia was a nice hike. Jasper beach was a rock collector’s jackpot! Loved the cottage! Fit our needs perfectly and made it seem like a home away from home." - Rick, Teresa, and Phoebe, Millersburg, OH, 07/01/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: This weekend has been great. Some fog and rain but we made the best of it. Your cottage is like a home away from home. Truly loved it. You really thought of your guest when it comes to the amenities of the cottage and the information needed to make a great vacation. Would definitely come back. Wish we were staying longer. People in the area are so friendly and the couple thay own the Tall Barney’s restaurant are very sweet and helpful. Thank you again. " - Brenda and Brian, NY, NY, 06/26/06 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: It looks like we were the first ones here this year. The view from the backyard is awesome, better than the pictures. Even though we didn’t see any bald eagles, we did go take a walk on the island at low tide; great place to pick shells. These are the places we went to: Beal and Great Wass island – went to Mud Hold Trail (it’s not muddy!). Very pretty trail. West Quoddy lighthouse, went on Bog Trail, awesome scenery, went down stairs to beach area. Ate at Whitehouse Restaurant – great lobsters and seafood. Awesome cheesecake!! Roque Bluffs – pretty view of beach; Petit Manan – 4 mile trail was too muddy but Smile trail was pretty with a great view of the shoreline. Ate at Tall Barneys – awesome crabrolls. Very good scallops in butter and garlic sauce, good fried shrimp. Try the chocolate mousse cake. Very friendly atmosphere. Also went to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain, Sandy Beach, Bass Harbor lighthouse. Fort Knox was interesting even though it had never seen a battle. These might be some ideas for future renters of this cozy little cottage with the breaktaking views. " - Rebecca and Dave, Mentor, OH, 05/21/06 (inquire/book) "Mike and Cindy, Thanks for letting us be the last visitors to the cottage for 2005! The weather was cloudy, rainy, and windy, but we had a wonderful time!! The fall colors are extraordinary, and I don’t think we even caught them at their peak. We took advantage of all your well-organized information, as well as recommendations from previous visitors and experienced the best of the area. The audio tour CD was a perfect addition to our trip to that spectacular national park. For future fall visitors, the town of Jonesport shuts down really early, so plan on an early “supper” in town! Also, for a breathtaking route through fall colors, take Hyw 191 between Baring and Machias. It’s also a shorter route from here to Calais than taking Route 1. You have a great place – thank you! Carol and Scott, Carson City, NV " - Carol and Scott, Carson City, NV, 10/16/05 (inquire/book) "Cindy and Mike, Thank you for the use of your great cottage – we’ve “done the coast” from East Quoddy Head light and Campobello to Ellsworth, with Schoodic Point being my favorite. We took each day as it came. No plans, no demands – just went with the flow. Some places were closed already for the season but still lots to see, experience and thoroughly enjoy! Our neighbors to the right were very helpful in pointing us to some very significant sights – this being our first trip to Down East. I loved the sound of waves, watching lobster boats and enjoying the sea breezes – the sunrises were spectacular. Long walks to Jonesport village allowed a close up view of the locals and how people live here. Very friend – always a “hello” or a wave – or greeting by the family pet. The week went by too fast, and we spoiled ourselves with all the good food. Wonderful spot! Hope we can make it back." - Sheila and Cathy, Harrison, ME, 10/01/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: What a lovely cottage~ We arrived late Sunday night after driving 8 hours straight from Albany, NY – tired and a bit disoriented. We happily settled in for the night – the cottage was cozy and fully stocked with all we needed. The next morning, the beautiful view greeted us, as well as plenty of sunshine. In fact, we were blessed with nothing but sun the entire week! Only this evening has a fog started to roll in and we are loving how it is changing the scenery. Since our main purpose for the trip was to catch up on some r & r, we spent most of our day shanging out at the cottage, on the deck sunning and reading, and eating in. But, we also tried taking a short road trip out each day. Some more memorable stops: Lubec (easternmost town in US!) and Quoddy Head/Lighthouse; Campobello Island; quick lunch in Machias. On to Perry where we stopped at the 45th parallel – halfway between equator and the North pole; Bad Little Falls in downtown Machias; picking wild blackberries and raspberries at the sides of the road; Jasper Beach, more rocks on a beach than either of us had ever seen – and so SMOOTH!; several stops to the Barney Cove Lobster Co (usually last minute at 6 pm) where we picked up some lobsters from owner Stan Beal; walk out to Bar Island at low tide. Our first trip to Maine has been wonderful, and we hope to return again and again. Thank you for providing such a comfy place for us!" - Emily and Jeremy, Schenectady, NY, 09/08/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We started and ended our stay with lots of sun and beautiful blue skies. In between there was some rain and fog, but the electricity and satellite held out, and so did we. What a relaxing get away from NYC! Thanks! " - Margareta and Margaret, NY, NY, 09/02/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Thanks so much for renting your lovely cottage to use for 2 weeks. We and our little son had a wonderful time – going to the beach at Sandy River and Roque Bluffs State Park, going to the pier in Jonesport and just sitting on the deck watching the sea and the gulls. The weather was great; only one or two days with rain/fog. Otherwise the sun was out all day. We especially liked the many farmstands. Thanks again – we hope we will be back." - Hubert and Aino, Washington, DC, 08/27/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Thank you so much for letting us use your cottage! It was the perfect place for a honeymoon. The view is absolutely breathtaking! We loved the location of the cottage – it’s close enough to the towns to go do things, bur remote enough to be private. We loved walking out to the island and looking for shells. We even bought lobster at the lobster coop and steamed it ourselves – it came our great! Thank you for making everything so wonderful. We plan to come back every 5th anniversary. Thanks again!" - Rachel and Jonathon, Charlotte, NC, 08/12/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: We had such a wonderful full week. We saw eagles, heron, hummingbirds, finch, etc. We saw a mother deer with 2 fawns down by Church Rd. We had the best food – all local seafood – haddock and lobster. Throw in a little crab and fresh green beans – “oh boy”! It is so peaceful here – I just love it!" - Dona, Salem, CT, 08/05/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: What an awesome, relaxing week – your cottage is truly relaxing and just what and how we wanted to enjoy our week! Neither Tom nor I had visited the Atlantic coastline and it is beautiful! We also enjoyed our driving through the countryside and enjoyed the villages and homes and landscape along the way to bar Harbor and Campobollo Island. We did go on a whale watching trip out of Bar Harbor and saw whales and dolphins – it was too foggy to see the puffins. We loved Acadia.and the popovers and bisque in the Jordan Pond dining room. The fresh raspberry pie at blue bird Ranch Restaurant in Machias in a must – real whipped cream. Tonight is crystal clean and the water is calm and what a view – we can see for miles! Thank you for opening your cottage and allowing us to enjoy this beautiful coastline and green, green area." - Tom and Martha, Carson City, NV, 07/23/05 (inquire/book) "What a poetic placement of rock, waves, and stoic tress is Chandler Bay! How fortunate are all who have even a moment to stand on center stage in your delightful, charming cottage." - Sandra and Michael, Darien, CT, 07/16/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Thank you so much for the use of the cottage. We had a wonderful time. We visited Acadia Park and several lighthouses. Due to the weather we missed out on the puffins. Maybe next time. We did see our first moose and several eagles out on one of the islands. We drove to Castine and toured the Maine Maritime Academy. We left a walking tour map for your use and also a CD of the Acadia driving tour." - Scott and Anna, Virginia City, Nevada, 07/02/05 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Wow! The week blew by fast! First, thank you, Mike and Cindy, for a delightful cottage. I thought I was the person who kept Lighthouse Depot in business, but you must lead the way! Spent the first day unwinding from the travel; then walked up the road and onto the rocks, then lounged on the deck. Went with Captain John to see the puffins on Monday. On Tuesday went to Jasper Beach, For O’Brien, Bad Little Falls, and Burnham Tavern. Next day it was Eastport and area, discovering the joys of Raye’s Mustard. Then Quoddy Head, Campobello and Head Harbor Light. Walked to Cape Point Trail on Great Wass and worked around the cape to get photos of Moose Peak. There’s an almost equally long list of things I didn’t get to do. Next time! Again, thanks! " - George, Glenside, PA, 06/24/05 (inquire/book) "I don't want to leave! We've had a great week doing day trips to Lubec/West Quoddy, Campobello, Eastport, and staying here enjoying the sun! The eagles (every morning they'd be in their spots on Bar Island), finches, lobster boats (I'm an early riser), and even the fog ;-) What a welcoming, wonderful place you have! And yes, you've thought of all the amenities including the wonderful Peter Ralston book "Sightings" - a joy to read while sitting next to the ocean. Your decor is quaint-essential Maine with the loons, moose, lighthouses, nad the details! - what fun to notice another new one each day. Thanks so much for sharing your place and heart for Maine with this 'Mainer'." - Louise, Gorham, ME, 04/24/05 (inquire/book) "The cottage was a perfect week away, like the tides across the rocky shore, our worries washed away. The week gave sunrises to ignite the soul. I recommend a walk on the beach early in the day. Roque Bluffs is an outstanding place to check out. If you like cheesecake, go to the White House on Rte 1." - Wendy and Ken Kinkade, Plantsville, CT, 12/05/04 (inquire/book) "Mike and Cindy, Many thanks for the opportunity to experience Maine! Your quaint cottage provided us a wonderful and welcome home base and we appreciated all the amenities on hand at arrival. The awesome ocean view was especially beautiful during a day of rain - but we certainly appreciated the sunny weather the other days. Waking at 5:30 for sunrises was worth getting up early! Morning walks on the nearby sandy beach and BarIsland started several days. Our main activities included: a visit to Campobello Island and FDR's home, a couple days at Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park (which included a stop at Atlantic Brewery). Also enjoyed golfing at Barren View Golf Course, Rte. 1. Favorite eating spots: Jordan Pond at Acadia (lobster stew and popovers - even returned to bake our own popovers!), The Cove (on Rte. 1 at Sorrento turn off). We purchased and prepared fresh clams in Jonesport (at the end of Bluenote ST). Loved the fresh wild blueberries and the two pies we baked with them . I purchased one batch at Blueberry Hut - on corner of Rte 1 and 187 -good muffins there, too). Our photos will provide us with great memories of the wonderful Maine coast and your picturesque cottage! Thanks so much!" - Ron and Pat, Carson City, NV, 09/10/04 (inquire/book) "Cindy and Mike, Your cottage by the sea is a wonderful place. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats out front, the bird activity, a seal, some fog, sunrises, sunsets, and simply the action of the water. Our day trips included Acadia National Park - wow!, Campobello Island, St. Andrews, NB...and just poking around in the area fishing villages. Several trips were made to the White House for pie, crab rolls or chowder. Mmmm! Thanks for providing a very guest-friendly cottage." - Ron and Donna, Bayport, MN, 08/27/04 (inquire/book) "Mike and Cindy, We had a wonderful time at your cottage in Maine! We took your advice and ate at Tall Barney's. Saw the "liar's table" and started talking with some of the lobstermen there. One of them invited us to go along on a fishing expedition the next day. What an experience!! When we got back he wanted to give us all the lobsters, but we told him we just enjoyed the trip so much, and he could keep the lobsters. He then invited us to his house and cooked the lobsters for us! We visited many places while here, and rented some bikes which we rode along the coast. Your cottage provided a wonderful, relaxing place to return to each day. The views are beautiful, and we had such nice sunny weather the entire week. Thank you so much!" - Mike and Jorja, Carson City, NV, 08/14/04 (inquire/book) "From guestbook, July 31-August 7, 2004 This was a great week! Sun everyday. A little different than last year - fog most every day. We had a super time visiting the beach with family. The men got to golf every day, and the gals got to sit on the beach and relax. Water is a little cold, but I did get in twice. Bird watching from your deck is the best - morning coffee at sunrise on the deck is a little piece of heaven. One only has to look around to see how awesome God is - what a creation he put together. I personally think this place in Maine is the best. I've been coming here for years. My father's family was from Jonesport. We have had many many memories. Some sad, most happy. This cottage is perfect. Cindy and Mike, you have created a perfect vacation spot, and I thank you for hsaring it with us. Thanks! Dona and Terry" - Dona, Salem, CT, 08/07/04 (inquire/book) "From Guestbook, July 24-31, 2004 What a comfortable and restful place you have, so thoughtfully prepared and fixed for your guests! Enjoyed daily observation of 2 eagles atop trees on Bar Island each morning - in the wild - was a first for me! Like clockwork they arrived and stayed and often quietly disappeared. Both sunrise, sunsets, as well as moon rises were pictures worth 1000 words! Although our day trips were very beautiful, enjoyable - including beautiful shore walks on simple trails by Quoddy Lighthouse and Campobello - days at this cottage brought nourishing rest as we drank in the beauty of the sea, listened to the sounds of the seaside, and left all the cares of our homes behind. Discovering the delicious fare of chowders, stews, seafood, homecooked food and fresh raspberry pie w/whipped cream or chocolate peanut butter moose pie (at Joyce's in Machias) made cooking obsolete - though all we needed was here when needed. We found Jonesport and our stay here to be one we'll recall fondly and recorded in our pictures, journals, and postcards. Thank you! The pictures on your website do your cottae and Jonesport's scenery no justice. We could not have picked a better place to stay in Maine. During our visit we believe to have seen everything there is in Downeast Maine! We visited Lubec and Campobello the first day. It was gorgeous! We went to Acadia and Bar Harbor twice. Brooke loved the shopping in Bar Harbor! We toured the entire Acadia National Park and went whale watching in "Ba Haba". We went to Calais one day and were a little disappointed in that; however, it was still a nice trip. We played golf, went fishing, ate in, and ate out. We had a very memorable trip. I proposed to Brooke on Tuesday as planned and she accepted. The stars and rising moon helped to make this a very romantic place. The fog was heavy much of the week, but only one day did it put a damper on the entire day. We have left Maine without the opportunity of seeing much wildlife. When we hiked Great Wass it was too foggy to see the seals, but we did hear them. When we went whale watching it was foggy and we missed out on those as well. No moose were to be found either. Oh well! Thank you both so much for the opportunity to stay here. If youever decide to sell the place, let me know. I will buy it!!! I hope your trip up here is an wonderful as ours. Thanks again!" - Brian and Brooke, Louisville, KY, 07/09/04 (inquire/book) "Dear Cindy and Mike, Thank you for such a delightful cottage and terrific view. we were so pleased to have every thinkable necessity available and access to many sights in the area. My husband and I love to watch and photograph birds, so we enjoyed Great Wass and Petite Manan. Chris was able to get beautiful photos of several varieties of warblers and I enjoyed hiking the trails in both parks. We took the boat ride to Machias Seal Island with the Norton's. We had a beautiful day and saw many nesting puffins, razorbills, murries, and artic terns. We even spotted a very rare white puffin. We did an $8, nine holes of golf (very reasonable) and then, the same day, headed to Campobello Island to see Roosevelt's home and hike/bird watch. Well worth it. After a quick visit to Quoddy Light we feasted on steamed lobster. Delicious! We found a nice place near Quoddy Light but I can't remember the name! Yesterday we went to Bog Brook Flowage to canoe (north of Cherryfield). Saw many nesting osprey and a mother and baby moose - quite a treat! Tomorrow we leave, hope to squeeze in one more canoe trip. It was a great week with good weather. We will be back to Maine. Thanks!" - Leonora and Chrisitan, Fairhaven, NJ, 07/02/04 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: Unlike most guests of the cottage, we come from a town about this size. It is nice to "change your four walls" as my uncle likes to say entirely too much. It's good to know that small towns carry similarities even when the environment is completely different. To those who come after us: Go to Quoddy Head! It is absolutely beautiful with peaceful trails, giant cliffs, and who doesn't love a peat bog? Thanks to the Watty's for all the thought they obviously put into making this cottage have something for everybody. Thanks again!" - Andy and Emily, Bakersfield, VT, 06/17/04 (inquire/book) "From guestbook: It was a pleasure being your first guests in 2004. The eagle flew right past the window and disappeared into the fog - a very special moment. Sunrise was lovely, too, worth awakening early. Our very best to you and all the guests who follow us. Allison and Ari" - Allison and Ari, NY, NY, 05/28/04 (inquire/book) "In June of 2003 my wife, daughter, and I had a marvelous vacation at the Watty's cottage in Jonesport. The house is on a bluff with an exceptional view of many offshore islands, one of which (Bar Island) is accessible at low tide. If seafood is high on your list, this is for you. There are mussels, clams, and periwinkles to gather at low tide and you can buy lobsters and Jonah crabs at the co-op dock in town. Norton's puffin tour is not to be missed, but you need to reserve early. Acadia Natl. Park is close enough for day trips. We saw 4 bald eagles living near the cottage, so you don't need to take a tour to see beautiful wildlife. We must also mention that the folks at Jonesport Realty were friendly and helpful in all our contacts with them. Overall, we had an enjoyable and memorable visit to Jonesport." - Neil Coleman, Mercersburg, PA, 09/21/03 (inquire/book)
