"Aloha Ning! I was just organizing my photos from our trip when your email came in. More guests should take time to place reviews about your homes. I'm happy to do so and hope that it helps others to choose your home for their vacation, I know they won't be disappointed. So nice to get an email from you. We will definitely contact you when we head over again Mahalo, stay well and happy Dennise " - Dennise B., Spring Valley, CA, 02/25/2024 (inquire/book) "thanks so much and we really enjoyed the stay at the bird of paradise. regards, margaret " - Margaret S., Paso Robles, CA, 01/21/2024 (inquire/book) "Thank you, Ning. It was nothing less than a fantastic experience staying in your home. " - Ernest S., Anchorage, AK, 04/15/2023 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful stay at the Bird of Paradise home celebrating my father's 80th birthday. The home was spacious for the 8 adults who stayed there. Everything was clean and in working order, the kitchen was well stocked, and the pool was warm. The views were stunning and we loved watching the sunrise from both in the house and on the deck. Walking distance from the beaches, although we drove to carry all our stuff. Evan, the property manager, was there to great us and was in contact throughout the week to see if we needed anything and to let us know about local events going on. Ning, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and she helped us arrange a photo shoot on Shipwreck Beach for my dad's 80th birthday celebration. I highly recommend this property!" - Diane T., Moraga, CA, 07/23/2022 (inquire/book) "Our family of nine thoroughly enjoyed staying at this home for one week. It clearly met our expectations. The home was clean, and comfortable and the location was terrific. The house manager was very responsive and gave us great suggestions on what to do and see in Kauai. The home made our stay very memorable." - Ron A., Bluffton, SC, 07/02/2022 (inquire/book) "Thank you. We had an absolute blast!" - Shawn C., West Linn, OR, 05/08/2022 (inquire/book) "Our Family stayed at Bird of Paradise for a week long vacation. We cannot say enough great things. From the moment I first inquired with the owner to the end of our say, we everything we imagined and more. The house manager quickly answered any questions we had and was thorough in the tour of the property. The home was clean, spacious and had everything we could have possibly needed for daily beach adventures. We look forward to when we can stay again!!" - Christina L., Chatsworth, CA, 04/23/2022 (inquire/book) "Our family had waited 2 years to finally be able to visit Kauai. We are frequent guests of the island but it was our first time staying at the Bird of Paradise home. And paradise is what it was. The home is beautiful, with wonderful views, gorgeous walks and a location close to all of our favorite Poipu spots. We had everything we needed for our family vacation. The kitchen was very well appointed, the bedrooms roomy and the living space large and welcoming. The owner could not have been more pleasant to deal with. We are already looking at dates to return. The Bird of Paradise home is a true gem on the Garden Isle." - Stephanie W., Salt Lake City, Ut, 04/03/2022 (inquire/book) "We had an amazing stay at this property. The location to beach and activities in Poipu, amenities of the home and views from the decks were world class. Thank you to our hosts, we will be back again soon!" - Parton a., Petaluma, CA, 01/21/2022 (inquire/book) "Happy New Year We have many happy memories of our week in Kauai and the Bird of Paradise home. The home worked perfectly for our family of 5 especially the location and size of the home. I am making a Shutterfly picture book to remind me of Kauai Thanks Marcia Nelson " - Ken N., Duluth, MN, 12/12/2021 (inquire/book) "Family time 5/5 Stayed Jul 2021 Shellie c. Lots of space. Nice little pool which we enjoyed. Lots of outside sitting area. Beach chairs and toys also!" - Shellie C., Hood River, Or, 08/08/2021 (inquire/book) "Stop what you're doing and book this house! Centrally located, beautifully appointed, never disappointed! My wife and I brought our three kids and joined another couple and their two kids and loved every second of it. The views are great, the pool was heavily used when we needed to bring back a child or two to just chill, and you're halfway between Kapa'a and Hanapepe which are home to some great kid-friendly beaches. Evan was super informative and Ning was very responsive whenever we had questions. The family is already asking when we are going back and we just left a week ago!" - Jason H., Tigard, OR, 07/31/2021 (inquire/book) "Hi there! We are planning to come back to Kauai over our spring break. We are thinking of March 9-17 or so. Do you have any availability? Thanks! Cassia " - Cassia Y., Fort Worth, TX, 07/13/2021 (inquire/book) "Our Family has planned this, our first visit to Hawaii, for the past couple of years. We were scheduled for May of 2020 and of course Covid stopped that. Ning was so nice and patient as we re-scheduled to the Fall, then ultimately to May, 2021. This home and this trip were simply top-shelf all the way around. The views, the layout and comfort of the home, decks, pool, etc. And Evan is so warm and helpful and welcoming. We can't recommend it highly enough." - Sid B., Paducah, KY, 05/26/2021 (inquire/book) "Simply put, this was by far one of the best experiences we've had staying at a vacation home! From the moment our first inquiry, to the very end of checking out, Ning (the owner) and Evan (the property manager) were warm and welcoming, attentive to our needs, and quick to respond to any and all of our requests. The home, Bird of Paradise, was perfect for our family. Its mountain views were breathtaking and the home's tropical decor was very charming. It was clean and had everything we needed for home cooked meals. We loved the location - we were steps away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world as well as to Old Koloa Town with some of the yummiest food trucks as well as the historic Sueoka Market. If you're active, you'll love jogging down Ala Kinoiki Road to Kauai Christian Fellowship's gym or CrossFit Poipu next door. I could not recommend this home anymore! Mahalo, Ning and Evan for the wonderful stay!" - Ed L., Paramus, NJ, 10/01/2020 (inquire/book) "We had an amazing time at this house. The views were spectacular and the house was great and in a great location. All the positive reviews are correct. A winner. We will be back" - Frank A., 02/24/2020 (inquire/book) Aloha Frank, Mahalo nui loa! and we hope to welcome you back again.

"Amazing!! I'm still speechless at how beautiful this island is. The Bird of Paradise home was absolutely perfect for our 8 day stay and accommodated 3 couples very nicely. Very clean and is fully equipped, literally has everything you need for your stay. The pool is great and the view from any spot on the huge wrap around balcony is breathtaking. Close to the beaches and restaurants. Best time ever!!!" - Sarah P., , 02/14/2020 (inquire/book) "This property was perfect for a stay with extended family- even a casita for the grandparents! "Thanks so much for your hospitality. The home truly is special. We were very careful to keep things clean because we felt as guests in your home, not just a number in a room. Evan was super helpful as well. This was a family vacation including that will likely be the last to include my mother and my 2 daughters. I hope not, but mom's almost 80 now, so mobility may be an issue in the future, and my daughters are 22 and 19, so they will have their own lives and adventures too. My mom has never been to Hawaii, so this was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The location is great, allowing us to spend time on the beach - both Poipu and Shipwreck are easy walks, as well as easy drives to either the west cost or north shore. We went as far as possible on foot to the west on Polihale beach, and saw waterfalls coming out of cloud covered mountains west of Prince Town. We hiked Sleeping Giant trail (muddy!), and drove up to the top in Waimea Canyon. The weather didn't cooperate fully, thought we had a fair share of sun to enjoy. Kauai is a much slower pace, more intimate island than Maui (the only other island I've visited so far). I'd love to stay at Bird of Paradise in the future - though I don't know when. Thank you again for everything! " - David K., Janesville, WI, 01/14/2020 (inquire/book) "Bird of Paradise in Poipu Beach area was a wonderful home for our family reunion of 7 adults and 2 teenagers. The location was perfect, in walking distance to two beaches, and the facility had everything we needed." - Pamela C., 12/30/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo Pamela for your comments. Happy Belated New Year. We wish you a wonderful 2020!

"Thanks for the great week. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the house. Evan was awesome - gave a lot of great tips for the house and for the Kauai experience. Very accessible with questions. The house cleaning staff were also exceptional - Gaby left a pair of earrings on the bed and they were really great and met up with us later that night so she could get them back. They really went above and beyond! Thanks again! -Joe " - Gabriela A., , 12/09/2019 (inquire/book) "This home has incredible views & a cozy, warm vibe. The common area is one big space which allows everyone to be together, while the expansive deck provides solitude when you want it. The photos are accurate & I would add that the separate, 2nd master (connected by the deck) was perfect for the toddler to get an early bedtime while the adults could still visit and play card games without disturbing her. The kitchen is very well stocked with plates, cutlery, cookware, etc. & there is a large assortment of both children’s books & toys as well as beach toys, bogie boards, chairs, etc. A few of the beach chairs have tears in the cloth & should be replaced. While the pool is smaller than it appears in the photos, you also have access to the community pool & can walk to several beaches which we took full advantage of. The location is terrific, on the South side of the island. Our family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving together & we wouldn’t hesitate to come back." - Kathy S., Audubon, PA, 12/05/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo Kathy! It is so nice to hear that you love this \

"Great house that allowed three families to enjoy time together and yet have space to find time to relax and enjoy some privacy. Great location near Poipu beach although little to far to walk with small children and beach equipment. Easy parking was available at the beach so it all worked out. The small pool at the house was a great bonus for the toddlers. The house was very well equipped and ready to go. The welcome coffee and chocolates was a great touch and enjoyed after a long day of flying with 2 toddlers." - Jeneva H., 10/09/2019 (inquire/book) Thank you very much for your feedback. Our home is large enough to provide privacy to your group of 8 people. We provide a beach wagon so young children can sit on it while adults walk them to the beaches! Hope you had a great time relaxing with your 2 wonderful toddlers. We make sure that our home is child-friendly (fence and gate at pool, plenty of room for them to run around).

"The home was incredible! It far exceeded our expectations. The view is amazing! The pool was perfect for the 5 year old as well as everyone else. The house was open and airy with lots of windows to let in the light as well as the spectacular view! The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean. Am planning to go back next year!" - Judith T., 07/22/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo Judith! "We stayed at this property for 10 days in June 2019. The house was very clean and had an abundance of amenities. Ning was very responsive to our emails. We had a very minor problem with an A/C unit one day but the property manager arrived within minutes to fix it. We planned to come with a toddler (our grandchild) but our plans changed and that didn’t happen, but the house was excellently suited for a small child, even to having a lock on the pool gate. The pool is small but nice for hanging out and enjoying the Hawaiian breezes. The location is excellent, close enough to walk to the Hyatt and Poipu beaches. We walked many evenings to get shave ice - this was a favorite activity. The kitchen is well stocked, there are plenty of towels for everyone, and we took advantage of having beach items such as boogie boards, beach chairs, mats, etc that were available for our use. The separate bungalow is a great place to stay for parents. We would highly recommend staying here. You will not be disappointed!" - Brenda R., 07/18/2019 (inquire/book) "We stayed at this property for 10 days in June 2019. The house was very clean and had an abundance of amenities. Our family had plenty of room to spread out, the grandkids loved the pool, and the air conditioning made it easy to sleep at night. We were allowed to checkin a couple hours early which helped given our flight arrival time, and we were greeted by the friendly caretaker. He walked us through the house showing us how everything worked and gave advise on the best best access to the local beaches. Overall it was a vacation we will never foget, and the house was one of the highlights!" - Walter P., 06/06/2019 (inquire/book) "Outstanding home that offered everything that we desired. We were very pleased with the location and especially the amazing views !! We had everything we could possibly want or need. Clean and spacious as advertised. Pool was smaller than expected, but don’t let that influence you as it is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Our girls loved that it was cozy and heated. Plus you have the resort pool access. "Our family of nine loved the Bird of Paradise home. The pool was great for the three kids and the bungalow was perfect for privacy. The views were spectacular, the beaches close with an easy 5 minute walk. The property was beautifully maintained. I could not get enough of the plumeria and stephanotis. We spent our time outside on the lanai enjoying the views and the fragrant flowers. Customer service was great, no complaints. Evan was friendly and very helpful. I would suggest that some minor repairs be made inside of the house. The dishwasher needs to be secured and there was a sliding closet in the master bedroom that needs secured to the floor. Overall the home was a wonderful experience for our family. Clean, spacious, and the location was perfect. Large windows that open to the trade winds and A/C that came in handy for a few hot afternoons. This hormone come highly recommended. Mahalo nui loa!" - Kathy S., 05/01/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo Kathy. We really appreciate your feedback. I am so glad to hear that you could not get enough of the Plumeria and Stephanotis (jasmine). I love tropical flowers too. The home also has Red ginger and the Bird of Paradise. We encourage our guest to cut these flowers and enjoy them. We will definitely make sure to secure the dishwasher and the sliding closet. The sliding closet door is the top-track style so that the floor is totally flat, no bottom track to gather dirt or causing the inconvenience in rolling your luggage to the closet. We will make sure to secure it in place. Mahalo and hope our path will cross again :)

"Our stay at the Bird of Paradise home with our family of 10 was perfect! The house is extremely well equipped and well stocked. It was well situated to many attractions around the Poipu area and easy to reach other sides of the island. It is large and roomy, so we never felt like we were on top of each other. The children enjoyed playing in the yard and in the pool. The two washers and dryers were great for washing clothes and towels for our large group. We would definitely consider staying here again on a return trip to Kauai!" - Linda C., 04/06/2019 (inquire/book) "Our stay at the Bird of Paradise home with our family of 10 was perfect! "You certainly have a beautiful home and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. It is a great facility for families. I can't thank you enough. I completed a review for VRBO this week but would be happy to fill one out for the address you listed. As you can imagine coming back was very busy so I appreciate you reaching out. I meant to contact you directly and thank you. We hope to come back again in the future. Thank you so much Christopher and family! " - Christopher G., Kalispell, MT, 03/10/2019 (inquire/book) "This is a wonderful home that is extremely convenient in Poipu! We had two toddlers with us on this trip and 6 adults, there was a ton of room and the home is equipped with everything you could need, including snorkeling gear, boogie boards, a stroller, kids beach toys, a cart for taking the goods to the beach, two pack'n'plays and small step stools for the kids in the house. The pool is small, but heated and very comfortable and easy to use for both adults and kids. The homes furniture and beds are very comfortable, they even have throw blankets on all the couches for added comfort. Easy to walk to both the beaches near the Grand Hyatt (Shipwreck included) and Poipu Beach on the pathways throughout the neighborhoods. This is a very walkable area and very convenient. I highly recommend this rental for families and adults, folks who have a hard time with stairs should not rent this home as it is required to use the stairway to get into the main level of the home, otherwise this place is really wonderful." - Danielle M., 02/20/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo for your review! "We had a wonderful stay at the Bird of Paradise home. Perfect location! We walked the green belt daily to visit both Shipwreck and Poipu beaches. Also loved hiking the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail accessible from Shipwreck beach. CJM horseback riding stables were a short 5 minute drive away. Keoki's Paradise restaurant early bird special that was recommended by Evan was enjoyed by all. The home was clean and accommodated our family very well. Mountain views from the deck were beautiful. The bungalow suite was a nice feature as well along with the heated pool. Ning was a pleasure to work with and the rental process was smooth with no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this property and we hope to be back in the future." - Mary J., 02/10/2019 (inquire/book) Mahalo nui loa Mary! "We were so anxious to return to this property as we stayed there 23 years ago. It did not disappoint !! It is kid friendly with loads of space so no one is on top of each other. The kitchen is fully stocked with the best blender EVER (great for our pina colada's!) and was a bonus to have all kinds of spices left over from past tenants. The location is amazing, beds super comfy with beautiful linens throughout the house. Wish we were still there and would not hesitate to stay at this property again. Property owner was very helpful throughout our whole stay." - Patricia W., 01/13/2019 (inquire/book) Thank you so much Patty. We are happy to hear that you all loved to come back to the Bird of Paradise home again. Sorry for the power outage in the Poipu area for a couple hours (this may be the reason you gave 4 stars). It was beyond our control and it affected the Poipu area. KIUC immediately came to fix the transformer and we were glad it was fixed and the power came back quickly.

"We had a wonderful time at Ning's place. We were traveling with 6 kids and needed a safe place for the little ones and entertainment at the house for the older ones. This place fit the bill perfectly. Our older kids loved the pool while the littles napped. Great location. We walked with the wagon full of beach stuff from the house to Poipu and Brennecke beach. Immaculate views. The weather was great in Poipu. We saw a Monk seal sun bathing on the beach. We saw tons of sea turtles snorkeling and on the beach. The house has a lot of space, plenty for our large family. I would stay here again." - Cody C., IL, 01/02/2019 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful time at Ning's place. (1) In reading customer comments on other properties they indicated small things like beach chairs were broken or the children outdoor toys were non-non-existant or broken. When I contacted the properties I got comments like what is there is there. That was not the case with this property. (2) When corresponding to the owner or I received a response immediately. I thought that was really exceptional considering our time was 5 hours ahead of Kauai and it was morning when I wrote. Later I found out the owners live in Michigan. They also were very responsive to all questions and requests. They were great to work with. Having stayed in a Home Away rental many times you can tell those that have been occupied by the owner frequently and those that have not. It took us about 5 minutes after our arrival to tell this is a home that is loved by the owner and is frequently occupied by the owner. The best way to describe this home is there is two of everything including washers, dryers and irons. There were enough beach chairs and towels for all 9 of us. The room set up was perfect. I daughter and 3 grandchildren stayed on the lower level and son and daughter-in-law stayed is a separate guesthouse suite while my wife and I occupied the master suite. This house was really comfortable and was a very short 10 minuted walk to the beach with all of the chairs and boogie boards loaded into the fold up wagon that was provided. "We had an incredible time at your Bird of Paradise home. It is the best VRBO we have ever stayed at. It was so well equipped and the location was perfect. I wanted to let you know how wonderful Evan was. He answered all of our questions and took great pride in telling us all about the places to go and see around the island. When I texted him with a few questions during our stay he answered quickly. I really appreciated his help. Thank you for opening your home up to us. We hope to return next year. The pool was almost to relaxing to leave at times but we forced ourselves to walk down to the beach. Place comes with all the beach gear you would ever need, even a wagon if you decide to walk. Place is an easy 10-15 minute walk to Shipwreck Beach where you can set up shop and sneak into the Grand Hyatt Pool when needed. All the bedrooms were well laid out and even though we had a big group, the house seemed very private too. AC works great!!! "We LOVED the Bird of Paradise house! We rented it for 20 nights and the first 10 nights, we shared the 4 bedrooms with 3 other couple friends. What a perfect set up for us! Plenty of room, beautifully decorated and equipped. The second 10 days that group left and our adult children (5) and our 3-year old granddaughter joined us. Another PERFECT fit! Both groups loved the pool and the house. The property manager, Evan, is a really nice guy and is accessible and helpful. Dealing with the owner, Ning, to book was easy and delightful. Lovely, well-equipped, clean home -- PERFECT!" - Donis C., 08/24/2018 (inquire/book) Mahalo Donis, we are so glad that the Bird of Paradise home was part of your perfect memorable time with family and friend!

"We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful Bird of Paradise home. It was well stocked in the kitchen and with all beach and ocean supplies we needed. In fact I regretting bring so much of our own stuff, I could have saved a suitcase. The beds were comfortable, A/C cold and our group of 8 had more than enough space that we never felt crowded. The property manager was helpful and promptly responded to the one minor issue we encountered. I highly recommend this property for its location as well. It was convenient to everything in beautiful Poipu and we enjoyed walking down to Poipu Beach for snorkeling, boogie boarding and surfing. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay. Would love to come back in a few years when the kids are a bit older. Maholo to Ning for a wonderful stay." - andy w., Austin, TX, 07/12/2018 (inquire/book) Mahalo for your review. "We had all been to Hawaii, except the children, but not Kauai. This property worked out great for our group of eight. There were three separate areas for sleeping for our three couples. The best part was the long lanai with fantastic views of the ocean, but mostly the mountains. The salt water pool was nice for when we were home. The house is only a short walk to the beaches and places to eat. The living room is HUGE and so nice to relax in with the great views out the picture windows. We enjoyed our stay very much and hope to return someday." - Kim S., Centennial, CO, USA, 07/05/2018 (inquire/book) Mahalo Kim. Glad to hear that our home works great for you. This home offers a Huge living room, fantastic views and large wrap around lanai, total of ~ 4000 sq ft living areas.

"For our purposes the house was perfectly located. Plenty of room for all, house clean and nicely layed out, we never felt crowed. Kitchen well stocked with necessary equipment. Large decks very nice and accommodating. Property manager, Evan was very helpful and knowledgeable. Pool very nice. Only complaint we might have is the necessity of luggage racks in bungalow." - Jeff and Judie B., 05/06/2018 (inquire/book) Mahalo! Hope you had a wonderful time playing golf. We are so glad to hear that your group of 9 people never felt crowned! Our home is very close to many places: Hyatt hotel (spa and restaurants), Poipu Bay Golf, Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail, Kiahuna golf course, Shipwreck Beach, Brennecke's Beach and Poipu Beach. As soon as you let us know about your need for the luggage racks, we ordered them right away. As I am typing this response, the luggage racks are at the house and each bedroom now has at least one luggage rack.

"Bed in bungalow has a sway and makes sleeping through the night difficult. The ice maker was not working and we had to spend vacation time filling and cracking ice trays. Several windows do not lock. AC in downstairs Queen bedroom is not working properly. We loved the lanai, and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of equipment for beach activities that we had access to. We enjoyed the pool, parking was convenient, easy to get in and turn around and security lights made us feel safe." - Henrietta F., 05/04/2018 (inquire/book) Aloha, we are glad to hear that you loved our home with it expansive lanai providing great panoramic views, warm pool, lots of beach amenities, easy parking and the security lights that made you feel safe. When we refunded your deposit, you mentioned that you enjoyed the Bird of Paradise home very much. Thus, we are a little confused about the minor problems you mentioned in your review, we could have fixed them immediately if you had let us know. Our home manager is only just a text or phone call away. He would stop by to fix any of these problems in less than 15 minutes (tighten the bed frame, change the AC to “cool” mode, get you a pack of ice, etc.) We usually set up AC in the “cool” mode and you can adjust the room temperature up or down as desired. Though, if you changed the mode to “auto” or “de-humidifier”, the AC will function based on the set temperature vs actual temperature. In the morning, it might warm you if the room is cooler than the set point. After you left, we found out that AC in the queen bedroom was set up in “auto”, so we changed it back to “cool” mode. Most of the windows in Hawaii including our house are jalousie type which cannot be locked. However, our home is in Poipu Kai resort which has its own 24-hour private security force. In our 26 years of owning a home in Poipu Kai resort, we have not heard of a single break in. You are always very safe here. In conclusion, we really want you to enjoy your stay very much, so please don’t hesitate to let us know for any problem right away during your stay.

"The view from the lanai is beyond stunning! Very short and beautiful walk from property to the Hyatt which has the best Starbucks with another amazing ocean view! Another short walk to the beach. House was very safe and clean. Plenty of space and we had 8 people there. The convenience of washer and dryer was awesome along with plenty of beach amenities! We loved the pool as well! Evan, the property manager, was very kind and helpful. We had no problems in the home while we were there! We have family on the island and we got to see other places. We would definitely only stay in Poipu, Koloa area. Ning’s home is a for sure place you will want to stay! Make sure to visit Nukumoi surf shop! It was our fave. Puka Dog was also great! Make sure to go to the art walk in Hanapepe on Friday nights. The food trucks there are soooo good! If you want to venture out to another beach, Pine Trees was beautiful and the soft sandy beach was awesome!!! Coming back to Kauai soon!" - Kc G., 04/07/2018 (inquire/book) Mahalo! After your comment, we found out that our novice cleaning girl cleaned the kitchen cabinets with an abrasive brush, they look scratch-worn out. This may explain part of your comments. We now have our Koa kitchen cabinet resurface. They look great now.

"My family of seven stayed for a week at Ning's house, with plenty of space and comfort. The air conditioning units are very quiet, though we didn't need the A/C in the bungalow due to the great cross-ventilation. My friends and I decided to take a trip to Kauai for my husband's birthday - we were going to surprise him. We looked for a home that would work for the 6 of us (5 adults, 1 child). Right before the trip, I broke my leg and so all of our plans changed... We are glad to hear that the Bird of Paradise home layout works well for you. Since you stayed in one of the master suites (one inside & Bungalow), you were on the same level with living, dining, kitchen, lanai (deck), grill and still enjoy good mountain range/crater/ocean views!. However, the layout of the home allowed me to be part of the group all the time - the lanai was a perfect place for me to just hang out and watch out for whales (yes, we saw some from the deck!). The paths around the resort were clear and wide enough for my rental scooter to go around \" - Mindy A., 01/22/2018 (inquire/book) Aloha Mindy, Mahalo for your review. We wish you a fast recovery. We are glad to hear that the Bird of Paradise home layout works well for you. Since you stayed in one of the master suites (one inside & Bungalow), you were on the same level with living, dining, kitchen, lanai (deck), grill and still enjoy good mountain range/crater/ocean views!. The home has both outdoor stairs (with half stop) and indoor stairs (with half stop), so we were hoping, you could go in/out without much trouble. Nov - April is great period to spot whales and we are glad to hear you spot whales! right at home.
"This house fit our two generation family vacation perfectly. Very well located with short walk to Poipu Beach, Hyatt Hotel or around neighborhood. Lots of large glass windows to maximize stunning views. The property is well cared for and our contact person for questions or concerns about the house was responsive and quite helpful. Loved the location and overall comfort of this house. Our complaints are very minor: one upstairs bedroom lacked a bedside table on one side, several outlets throughout did not work and I wanted better task lighting (for reading, board games, etc.) in the living room. Lastly, the pool was cold--too cold, so I'm not sure it was heated. All that being said, we were all very happy with Bird of Paradise. Thank you for providing such a great place for our family." - Lisa B., 01/01/2018 (inquire/book) Aloha Lisa, Glad to hear that you are very happy with the Bird of Paradise home, love the location and overall comfort of this home. Yes, there are large glass windows to maximize stunning views of the mountain range, crater, golf and ocean views. Hope you enjoyed the Christmas time. We will make sure that every outlet is working properly. We provide 4 different light sources in various spots in the living room, some of which have adjustable arms for reading and a bright fluorescent overhead light in the dining room. The main light in the living room can be adjusted so you can watch movies in dim light or play games on the large coffee table in brighter light. We will make sure our guests have enough light for playing board games. Lastly, during the beginning of your stay, the weather was windy and cooler than usual. You mentioned that the pool was cold! I believe you meant the Poipu Kai Association pool/spa. Our pool man stopped by the house every other day to make sure our private pool at home is cleaned and heated to at least 82F (set temperature at 85F). The pool man talked to one of your group members (a man) who clearly mentioned that they have been using free access to Poipu Kai Association pool/spa. The Poipu Kai Association pool is large but not heated. Only our private pool at the Bird of Paradise home is heated.

Great location. Incredible view!! The pool is only ~4 feet deep and more of a larger hot tub size. Would only hope for newer towels as they were a bit scratchy and when you are in the water a lot, but everything else was perfect!" - Lauren S., 10/13/2017 (inquire/book) Thank you for your review. Yes, Bird of Paradise home is in a great location and it built to take advantage of 270 degree views, going from the mountains, to partial golf and Ocean views and wonderful sunrises. We are glad to hear that this home was perfect for your group of 4 couples. The pool size is 12 feet x 18 feet and 4 feet deep was built specifically to be safe for young children. The pool is heated to 82F and goes above that in the afternoons. It is perfect for families with children because of its fencing and depth. We heard from many families that their children learned to swim and snorkel in this pool. I am not sure which towels you mention as being scratchy (beach towels or bathroom towels) that were scratchy. When you are in the water a lot and use a towel, it is possible that your skin is soft & sensitive leading to scratchy feeling while using towels. We will make sure our cleaning crew use fabric softener with towels every wash. Our bath towels are high quality Martha Stewart quick dry bath towels from Macy’s, Beach towels are large size Stripe Beach towels from Land's End.

"My family and I just returned from a 10 day stay at the Bird of Paradise house. We enjoyed our trip and hope to return in the future. The Bird of Paradise house was perfect for our family - there was enough room for 8 adults and three grandchildren. The deck that surrounds the house gave us additional space. We enjoyed breakfasts, dinners and late night chats on the deck while we enjoyed the beautiful views and breezes. The younger children loved to dip in the pool after we returned each day from the beach. We cooked all of our dinners at home since we had small children. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The outside grill is brand new. Evan, the house manager, met us on the first day and was kind enough to give us a driving tour of the location (beaches, pools, etc.). The only negative I can think of is the noise in the morning for those who have the two lower bedrooms. However, if you don't travel with young children who are early risers, then this won't be a problem!" - Peggy S., 09/15/2017 (inquire/book) "My family and I just returned from a 10 day stay at the Bird of Paradise house. "This place was perfect for us - we are a family of 10 with 3 couples and 4 kids. The two small kids were able to sleep on futons in the very large master. Notes on the property: - views are spectacular and serene, with a huge wrap around deck to dine and layout - ac works well which is important to sleep for us - clean and well kept, and stocked kitchen with supplies - spacious living room to hang out - wi-fi worked great - 7 minutes to the beach - tons of beach gear like chairs and umbrellas which is great to have - concierge fantastic - we booked a few tours and a chef through her which all turned out perfectly - we had a shower curtain rod come down and Evan came and fixed asap - pool was small but fun to lay out by and take a dip Overall surpassed our expectations! Thanks!" - Christina J., 07/04/2017 (inquire/book) "This place was perfect for us - we are a family of 10 with 3 couples and 4 kids. "We are a family of 6 from Arizona and Texas. The property layout and size was perfect for our group. Pool is very nice though small, Evan tried to be very helpful, well equipped kitchen, nice grill, plenty of nice outdoor seating, lots of handy ocean toys and equipment, tvs and a/c in every bedroom but a/c in living area is inadequate, some minor repairs needed to appliances and fixtures, Owner was very nice to deal with, property instructions were awesome and complete, home is on busy and noisy street, and gps made it very easy to move around the island. Overall, we had a great stay on this property. We'd recommend for extended families and groups of 6 or more!" - Leslie M., Mesa, Arizona, 05/27/2017 (inquire/book) Mahalo Leslie for your comments and title for our Bird of Paradise home. We have awesome lanai areas to watch 270 degree Poipu views, suntan areas, quiet reading area, BBQ area and dining areas. The pool dimension is 18 x 12 ft^2, 4 ft deep and heated. We have a fence around the pool and a gate lock to prevent small children entering without adult supervision. The road in front of the house is a private Poipu Kai Resort road so normally it does not have much traffic. Unfortunately during your stay the next door house was being renovated (and has ended), this resulted in 6-7 pick-up trucks coming and going several times during the day with their accompanying noise. Our house and garden are on the hillside which is at least one story above the road and all of our bedrooms are at back of the house away from the road so they will not get much noise. In regards to some minor repairs needed to appliances. Sorry about the LG dishwasher (< 1 years old) failed during your stay. We tried to fix it the next day but due to motherboard related problem which takes about a week to arrive from mainland. We care about our guest’s comfort, so we bought and installed a new dishwasher, replaced the faulty LG dishwasher the next day. You also could not get one of the washers to work but it is working fine. When you want to start the wash, you need to press start and hold for 3 second. We put a label on this washer now, so the error will not happen to other guests. The AC in the living area was installed according to the square footage of the living area. Due to the open floor plan of our living room, it takes a while to cool. There are fans to distribute cold air that can be used with AC as well. The home is facing the trade winds which blow most of the year and make AC unnecessary. We encourage guests to open windows (east and west sides) to let tradewinds flow through. Thanks to perhaps global warming this year the trade winds were not blowing during the beginning of May and Kauai was unusually warm. We are in the process of getting a solar power driven second AC for the living room to solve this problem.

"We invited our two sons, our daughter-in-law, and our grandson to join us for two weeks in Kauai. My wife and I had previously spent ten nights at the nearby Grand Hyatt, but we knew we would need a house to accommodate the entire family. I tend to over-research our vacations, and I spent hours before making contact with the owners of the Bird of Paradise home. Ning was great about answering all of my questions, especially assuring me that the pool was child-proofed because my wife was insistent that we shouldn't stay at a home with a pool. The pool was secure as advertised, and our 22 month old pretty much lived in it - when he wasn't spending time at the beaches. My only disappointment was that the ocean views are fairly limited, but I soon forgot about it because the mountain views are truly spectacular. You need to trust me on this because I can spend hours just looking at the ocean, but when you witness the 180 degree view of the mountains from the living room area, the deck, and the bungalow, you will be mesmerized. Also, the beaches are a 5-10 minute walk away. As great as the house is, my favorite part of the property is the deck. I woke up every morning ahead of the others and spent an hour or so on the deck enjoying the views with my coffee (you can definitely hear the ocean - especially in the morning before the neighborhood comes to life). There is outdoor furniture all over the property, and we especially enjoyed the four-seat and six-seat tables for outdoor meals. We had some great dinners at nearby restaurants, but we also barbecued fish several times after stops at Koloa Fish Market. My recommendation is that you stop in there between 10:00 and 11:00 and order whatever they suggest is freshest and best for that particular day. They will divide your order into servings, and recommend the appropriate fish marinade and sauce. We also patronized the local wine shop and food markets, but the (relatively) new Safeway in Lihue is 20 minutes away and made us feel like we were at home. I could go on and on about the home, but there are many other reviews that duplicate what I would say. I will mention that Evan is a great resource regarding the home and the island. Also, the owners were on the island during our vacation, so we also met them. One of the burners was out on the range, and they showed up the next day with Evan to fix it. It is really clear that they want you to enjoy your stay. We definitely did!" - Erik Z., 05/10/2017 (inquire/book) Mahalo Erik, we really appreciate your review. We would love to have you back.

"Our family absolutely loved staying in your Bird of Paradise home. It was a welcome sight to our weary traveller's eyes when we saw the beautiful house up on the hill with glowing lights waiting for us. It was the right location and the size accommodated all very well. We enjoyed the swimming pool each and every day. Having the pool to use with our little ones was a joy for all of us. Evan (property manager) was a great help to us. He was so informative and knowledgeable about the island. We took his advice and explored many places. We also ate at a few recommended restaurants/food trucks. Evan also answered our text messages promptly and even dropped off umbrellas, water wings and fish identification books. He is a very kind, helpful and generous man. We all fell in love with Kauai and it is our favorite island! Not one of us was ready to come home. We hope to make this an annual or biennial family trip. We look forward to staying at your homes again." - Julie T., Alberta, Canada, 03/22/2017 (inquire/book) "Our family absolutely loved staying in your Bird of Paradise home. It was a welcome sight to our weary traveller's eyes when we saw the beautiful home up on the hill with glowing lights waiting for us. The view from the house was stunning. We enjoyed using the heated swimming pool everyday. It was a perfect location for us with an easy 5 min. walk to Poipu Beach and Shipwreck Beach. Koala Town was just a 5 min. drive and the North Shore was just an hour and a half away. The property manager was informative and knowledgable about the island. He always answered our questions promptly and helped us when we needed it. The ability to contact the concierge to have our first breakfast and lunch groceries in place was wonderful. She also helped arranged the diving excursions which was greatly appreciated. Our family fell in love with Kauai. We plan to return again and we will absolutely stay at one of Ning Gulari's homes. I am a travel agent and have done my fair share of touring resorts and looking for an upside and/or downside to resort vacationing. With that said, we did drive by the house twice since we didn't see the house number from the road and it has a shared driveway entrance with the house next door. BUT once we got there, it exceeded my expectations. First and foremost it was very clean and well stocked of necessities for any beach activity including beach towels, water shoes, beach chairs and snorkel gear to name a few. The house is well positioned for a short walk to any of the 3 beaches. The bedrooms were very spacious with comfortable beds (except the twins.....they might have waterproof mattress pads since it appears to be a kids room) and flat screen TV's in all. The kitchen had all the necessities for cooking/dining but THE VIEW from the living area!!!! My gosh! It is grand! The pool was well maintained and we used it often. I cannot say enough about the house and the owner. My emails and questions were answered promptly and my security deposited refunded back to me as I sat on my flight home. I highly recommend this property. My family (all adults at this point) had an amazing visit to Kauai while staying at The Bird of Paradise Home and we are looking forward to a return trip. The added bonus is the house concierge and house manager. The concierge pre booked our tours and did my grocery shopping prior to our arrival. Yes, there is a fee attached to the shopping but considering I didn't want to arrive after a long flight , pick up the car rental, drive 30 minutes to unpack our luggage and then go back to Safeway to do my hour worth of grocery shopping. This was vacation and I wanted to start it as soon as my feet it the ground. The house manager came our first night and gave us some valuable touring information that we utilized the very next day. You can't go wrong with this property." - Anonymous, Whitehall, PA, 02/11/2017 (inquire/book) "The home was perfect! The home was ideally situated to the many activities we pursued: snorkeling, paddle boarding, hiking, watching the sunrise from the cliffs over Shipwreck Beach, and dining at nearby fabulous restaurants. Most importantly your home provided us with the opportunity to be together as a family. So much better than being in a hotel! This house is so well laid out, extremely well equipped, and beautifully decorated. I cannot think of a thing we lacked. This home was perfect in every way. We had our own bungalow separate from the rest of the family. The home is walking distance to gorgeous beaches and great restaurants. First, you WILL want to rent this incredible property, so be sure to get your dates in soon as it books fast. We almost missed out on the vacation of a lifetime, but luckily were able to secure this home for 3 families (6 adults, 3 kids). Each family had a room, bathroom, and privacy. The home owner, Ning, was always quick to respond and incredibly professional. Ning responded to all my inquiries and questions and was incredibly friendly throughout the initial process. Once in Kauai we pulled up to this amazing home, mouths agape and couldn't believe it was all ours! The location is AMAZING, truly 5 minutes to everything, best beaches, amazing eateries, zip-lining, snorkeling, ATVing, biking, etc. The kitchen is truly stocked with everything you could need and more, we made fruit smoothies every morning with the blender and vitamix! Having a private pool with the 3 kids truly made the trip, the little guys were not going to be able to safely enjoy the ocean water, but we sure got a lot of use out of the pool, 3 times a day use usually! Evan, the on site house manager, was incredible, he was on top of everything. The grill was giving low flame, we woke up to a NEW grill the next day, literally a new grill less than 12 hours after we asked. Evan was so helpful and communicative, anything we needed, any questions we had, he was knowledgeable, personable, and incredibly professional. This was the perfect vacation home for our 3 families for a week (one couple in upstairs master, one couple + 2 kids took the two downstairs rooms, one couple + toddler in pack-n-play took the bungalow). Very spacious so we didn't feel that we were on top of each other. Nicely decorated, yet toddler-friendly. Kitchen was stocked with all the necessities, and more. The pool was a very nice alternative to walking to the ocean, especially with young, active, impatient kids (it was also a nice temperature). A plethora of pool and beach toys (EVERYTHING you'd want). An easy walk to two beaches. Close driving proximity to excellent restaurants. The adults could happily spend the day on the lanai in the comfortable lounge chairs, napping, reading, or just taking in the beautiful view of the mountains. Seemed to be a very quiet and safe neighborhood. The double washers and dryers were nice during our stay. The owner and manager were very accommodating and communicative from the time we booked the house all the way through our stay. It was just perfect for our needs, and we so appreciated all the extra things included with the house like boogie boards, beach chairs and towels and such a well stocked kitchen. Our grandchildren and children really enjoyed the pool. Evan the manager, was very attentive and helpful. The Bird of Paradise house is in a perfect location and we thoroughly enjoyed the panoramic view! We had a lovely 40th anniversary dinner at the Beach House and even had photographs taken of our whole family at Shipwreck Beach. This vacation (although it went by too fast) will be treasured memories, and this wonderful house just added to the joy. For most of our 2 weeks we had 6 adults and 3 children. Two other family members joined us for 5 nights. It completely worked. We ate out on the lanai almost every night. Renting it, sight unseen was a little scary, but all was better than we anticipated. We loved Even's suggestions and ate at The Brick Oven Pizza (some of the best pizza ever), Verde's, and Keoke's Paraside. The Koloa Fish Market has wonderful fresh fish, and they'll tell you how to cook the different kinds of fish. We really enjoyed the tubing adventure along the old sugar plantation irrigation system. My daughter and her family did the Smith Family Luau on the Wailua River and said it was very good. We chartered a boat for a stunning Napali Coast adventure. Since all our family was at the Bird of Paradise House, we hired a photographer to take family photos on Shipwreck Beach at sunset. The beaches on Kauai are fabulous - Poipu (within a short walk from the house), Ke'e Beach and Tunnels were some really thoroughly enjoyed. Great snorkeling. The layout allowed each family to have their own space (our party included me, my older son and his wife who stayed in the guest house, and my younger son and his wife and three kids, 3, 5, and 11, who stayed in the bedrooms on the lower level). We spent many hours in the great pool at the home and at nearby Poipu Beach. The home was spacious, well-equipped, and had lots of beach supplies for us to use. It was well-maintained and we were appreciative of home manager Evan who was there to greet us and make us feel welcome. While we were there we enjoyed a helicopter ride (my first!), one of the island luaus, and some of the adults even spent time at the nearby Hyatt at the spa. Our group consisted of 3 young children (4 1/2, 4 1/2 and 7 1/2), 3 40-something adults and grandparents in their mid-60s. The location of the home was ideal. We were a short walk away from the Hyatt & attended the luau there one evening. We also walked to Poipu beach, Shipwreck beach, and to the hiking trails along the lithified cliffs. The walking paths that meander through the surrounding area were only a few houses away from Birds of Paradise. When I was originally looking for houses, I thought we'd prefer to be beachfront, but we really liked the views of the mountains and ocean from Birds of Paradise and we especially liked watching the green parrots descend every evening on the palm trees directly across from the house. I understand that people make reservations at certain restaurants to experience the green parrots, but we were able to watch them nightly from the lanai. The heated pool was the perfect place for our kids to play after a morning of exploration. The water was around 90 degrees, depth roughly 3 feet and there were plenty of pool toys at the house. My parents (the grandparents) stayed in the separate suite. The separate entrance, private bath and mini fridge / coffee maker in their room worked really well for them and allowed them to have privacy and maintain different hours than the rest of us (granddad wakes up really, really early :)) The property manager, Evan, was helpful with regulating the pool temperature, giving local beach and restaurant recommendations and checking in to make sure we were well taken care of. Birds of Paradise was the perfect base for us to explore the Waimea Canyon, Napili Coast (via Catamaran and hiking) and the area surrounding Poipu. We all had a wonderful time. The owners were very informative and helpful in the time leading up to our stay. The manager was also very helpful while we were there. The house is kept in excellent condition. We bought food at Costco and other local grocery stores to save money. The house was well equipped with dishes and several condiments/spices that we needed. That was very helpful! Being able to use the grill was nice, too. Everything that was described about the house and it's amenities was accurate including MANY more beach things than described such as beach chairs, snorkel equipment, beach toys, boogie boards etc. We didn't have children there but noticed many things that would be helpful like high chairs, pack and plays, games, movies, etc. There were even things supplied for laundry and showering that we hadn't expected. We really appreciated having such nice paved walking paths and being within walking distance to beaches, restaurants and a short drive to the grocery store and many points of interest. During our stay, we went for many walks around town, to the beaches and the beautiful grounds of the Grand Hyatt near the ocean. We ate at Brennecke's beachfront restaurant to watch the sunset. Near town to the west we went to the Spouting horn blowhole and shopped at the vendor booths (got some nice jewelry) and and east of town took a bumpy dirt road to Gillin's beach then walked to Makauwahi cave (very cool) and the lithified cliffs at Kamala point (VERY beautiful!!!). A few of us took a helicopter tour, scuba dived and kayaked the Wailua river. Some of us drove up to the north shore and went to Kilauea lighthouse, Ke'e beach, stopped in Hanalei and had some shave ice. A few of us drove up to the Waimea canyon (awesome) and took the long dirt road to Polihale State Park (beautiful secluded beach). A very good decision!" - Jean C., 03/21/2015 (inquire/book) "We stayed here for my 40th bday and it was perfect! There were 6 adults, 2 kids, and 2 young children. The owners were over the top accommodating and helpful. The manager of the home could not have been nicer or more helpful. The place was clean and had everything we needed (plus, more). The rooms and beds were nice and well kept. Location was great because it was so close to two beaches. I have told so many people about how, this house, made our trip. I would recommend this home for everyone! It felt like a home away from home. Thank You!!! We will be back." - justin, Sea,WA, 02/20/2015 (inquire/book) "We stayed here for my 40th bday and it was perfect! There were 6 adults, 2 kids, and 2 young children. We absolutely had a wonderful time -- the house was perfect for our needs: plenty of space, large lanais with amazing views, every kind of beach gear we could need, and of course the swimming pool which was perfect for keeping a 4 1/2 year old occupied for hours. The house is situated well within the Poipu township -- just a 2 minute drive to Poipu/Brenneke's beach, easy walking distance to the association pool and tennis courts, easy drive to all local amenities. Two farmers markets a week in Poipu/Koloaa made it so easy never to leave the general vicinity. We look forward to staying again." - Kathy G., Mill Valley, Ca, 08/16/2014 (inquire/book) "Our family of seven (including two children under 5 years of age) recently spent two weeks at Bird of Paradise under the guise of 'celebrating mom's 75th birthday.'. The house was clean and equipped with everything we needed. An unexpected surprise was all the pool toys, life jackets, snorkel gear and beach toys. The pool was the highlight for the kids. It was the perfect size and depth. Plus, it was fully fenced and we found a padlock to lock the gate for further piece of mind. Originally, when looking for a house to rent, I didn't want a pool for the safety factor. The set up at this house was absolutely perfect and worry free. The deck space and views are gorgeous! The deck is huge! We all felt that the real view was far better than even the pretty online photos. The house sits up high so you can overlook the mountains and see a bit of ocean. The two outside dining tables really came in handy. If it was windy, the table under the covered patio was perfect and if we wanted more sun we sat at the other table. The location of this property can't be beat. Having never been to Kauai we didn't really know where location-wise to be. This house is it!! Poipu beach is so close. An easy walk through a nice green belt. The Hyatt is in the other direction through another green belt. We walked there daily to enjoy a morning coffee on their beautiful lanai or a happy hour glass of wine. The grocery store was so close as well. The owners were great to deal with. Very organized and gave us plenty of information/maps/directions about the island. I absolutely recommend this house and hope to go back back there soon! It played a major role in making our trip so amazing." - Kelly M., 04/27/2014 (inquire/book) Our wish is to make the Bird of Paradise home a paradise place for Kauai vacationers. "We just returned from a 6 night stay. The pictures shown in the gallery are representative of the property (except that the carpet in living room was recently replaced with wood flooring - a bonus). The kitchen was well stocked with cooking hardware, the pantry had reasonable offerings (and we left some behind for the next person as well). The cleaning supplies (dishwasher and laundry) were well stocked as well. There are two washer and dryers in the garage, very helpful. The property manager called the day after we arrived and was very helpful. The pool is more of a dipping pool for cooling down in the afternoon, and was perfect for our kids. We timed our walk to the beach from the house and it was 10:30 each way. No need to drive to a parking lot to access the beach." - Johnny S., 03/23/2014 (inquire/book) "We just returned from a 6 night stay. Our kids had some pretty bad slips after they got out of the pool. also the community pool was frigid ...I would definitely suggest heating it." - Adam B., 02/28/2014 (inquire/book) I assume you meant the Poipu Kai community pool. I am so sorry to hear that your kids had a bad slips there. This is the reason why we have our heated private pool at the Bird of Paradise home. This pool is warm, clean, safe and right here at the Bird of Paradise home. I already sent a suggestion to the Poipu Kai community pool committee to add more rugs on the tiles.

There were 5 in our party and everyone had plenty of room to stretch out and lots privacy. The location was perfect and most things were within walking distance. We walked to Shipwreck Beach one morning and got a great view of the sunrise. The view of the mountains from the living room and lanai were great. The kitchen was well stocked and we used the gas grill one night and ate outside on the great lanai which is a nice addition to the home. The home was clean and well decorated in Hawaii motif. We enjoyed the air conditioning and the washer and dryer very much. It was nice to come home and not have tons of laundry to do. We also enjoyed the pool even though we didn’t get to use it as much as we would have liked. (There was room for more, even.) The kitchen was the best equipped of any vacation rental we've ever stayed at. There was plenty of seating on the lanai, by the pool, in the living room so that you could relax where you wanted without needing to move furniture. The kids loved jumping in the pool right after breakfast while the grownups relaxed. The walk to Poipu Beach was short and pretty- our 6yo never complained once. There were plenty of buggy boards and snorkel gear so our kids could try them out without a big investment from us. The property manager came by and introduced himself, although we never needed to call him. Everything was clean. They request no shoes in the house to keep the floors wonderful, so bring slippers or house shoes if you'd want them. We loved the lu'au on the beach at the Sheraton. Such a beautiful sunset. Poipu Beach was perfect for our 6 and 7 yos. There are two crescents of sand that meet in a spit going out to a rocky tidepool area. Our 6yo rode his boogy board back and forth over the sand spit, between the opposing (small) waves, without having to stand up. So fun! The snorkeling was super there, as was the tidepooling. We even saw a monk seal. One of our favorite meals was the ahi poke and sashimi platter from Costco. (Yes really. It was amazing, and far cheaper than a restaurant!!) Kalapaki Joe's was a huge disappointment, even though it's in walking distance. We did a small boat cruise and a helicopter ride, but both tour guides were duds. The views were terrific, however. We also drove up the Waimai canyon to the Pu'u o Kila Lookout. Amazing views. Really awe inspiring, plus we had an amazing rainbow on the way back. The owners have a ton of information online and it all reflects accurately the details of the house. There are not hiding anything in their photos; they really want you to see what there is, and what there is is great. You won't be disappointed." - Gisele E., Boston, MA, 10/05/2013 (inquire/book) Aloha Gisele, We are truly delighted that you enjoyed staying in our home. "Our group (two families: two couples and 3 young teenage kids) had a wonderful time during our recent stay at Bird of Paradise home on Kauai. The house is beautiful, with great views and a wonderful large open living room/dining room/kitchen area that is attractive, comfortable, and relaxing. We really liked the three separate sleeping areas: two separate master suites for the adults, and a downstairs space with two rooms for the kids. The house has a great combination of a large central space for everyone to hang out, and private spaces for everyone as well. Other amenities we appreciated: - the two washers and driers, which made laundry very easy for our large group - assorted boogies boards, flippers, and snorkel gear - excellent large TV in the living room, plus TVs in all the bedrooms - pool and deck on the property, which the boys used a fair amount I would recommend this place whole-heartedly." - Gina B., 04/02/2013 (inquire/book) Mahalo for your comments

"The nine members of our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bird of Paradise home in Po'ipu. We found the location very convenient (walking distance) to several area beaches, and to shopping for provisions at Costco in Lihu'e. The house itself was perfect for us. The large family room and dining rooms were great for gathering. The wrap around deck was awesome. We ate nearly every meal on the deck. The two younger children in our group really enjoyed the salt water pool, and when we weren't at the beach, they could be found in the pool. The sleeping accommodations were very comfortable. There was air conditioning in every room, although we never used it because of the nice cross winds. We found the two washers and driers particularly helpful because of the size of our group and the amount of time we spent at the beach. It was also nice that some beach toys were available for use (boogie boards, etc.). The kitchen was very well equipped and we lacked for nothing. We had a wonderful time on the island, exploring from Wiamea Canyon to Hanalei and many spots in between. We would definitely recommend the Bird of Paradise home to anyone interested in visiting Kauai, and hope to return ourselves some day." - Pyke J., 06/08/2012 (inquire/book) "The nine members of our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bird of Paradise home in Po'ipu. So glad there was a pool (nice little surprise) especially after spending some time with friends in the Orchid house. The house was so spacious and comfortable for all of us and we never felt crowded. We even had a honeymooning couple in the seperate master guest room and they were in complete privacy when they wanted it. Your home lacked nothing in amenities, and we especially appreciated the brand new snorkelling equipment and boogie boards that were waiting for us. The guidebooks in the home were really helpful, and the location couldn't have been more convenient for walking to either Poipu Beach or Shipwreck Beach. We were able to easily walk to the Hyatt Luau (which was very good and we would highly recommend). Every morning we marvelled in the gorgeous sunrises while eating our breakfast on the lanai. We savored the views and tradewinds each afternoon while relaxing on the loungechairs on the lanai and shared stories from our day. The experience will leave a forever lasting memory. The best overall word to describe the house is comfortable, but it was so much more! This couldn't have been any better. The house is fully stocked with amenities for the beach--and loved the two washers and dryers! Thank you Ning!!!!!" - Bert and Lisa, Larkspur, Colorado, 04/06/11 (inquire/book) "I wanted to let you know how much we appreciated all the help in making our trip a great success. Your home is the best equipped that we have ever stayed in. You provided many items that we normally don't find when we travel. Thanks again. " - William D., Hutchinson, KS, 02/19/2011 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We loved our 5 night stay at the Bird of Paradise home and only wish that we had allowed more time on Kauai at the end of our month long Hawaiian vacation. Hopefully we will be able to come back soon and stay longer! When we vacation we always try to stay in a rental home rather than a hotel. Your home was so well prepared for visitors and it was a real treat to find the kitchen so completely stocked with everything that one could need. The comments in the initial information rec'd said that the kitchen and bathrooms would have "start up supplies". We were expecting sample sizes of everything but were so pleased to find ample full sized supplies. For once we did not have to go and spend extra money on dishwasher detergent, soap, cooking supplies etc., only to leave them behind when vacating. What a time and money-saver. Many thanks. We drove our rental car around the island and found it very easy to navigate. One day we took the Island Helicopter waterfall tour. It was out of this world - not only was there an around the island tour, but Island Heli is the only firm that has permission to actually land at the "Jurassic" Falls. This was outstanding. We also went to the Zip n' Dip at Princeville. So much fun, plus there was about 45 mins spent swimming at a small waterfall. A nice lunch was also provided. Our favourite thing to do, and we did it twice, was to drive to Wailua Falls and hike down to the waterfall. We had amazing swims down there and were the only people in the water. Absolutely magical. We can't wait to return to Kauai and when we do we'll definitely be staying at the Bird of Paradise home!!" - Carolyn Gebbie, Victoria, British Columbia, 10/25/10 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful stay at the Bird of Paradise home at the end of September. We only had four adults in the home & found it amazingly spacious, well kept, and stocked with everything one needs for a relaxing vacation. It's the perfect location in Kauai & we'd love to return." - Anonymous, 10/14/10 (inquire/book) "The Bird of Paradise home was everything advertised and more! It is a lovely home in a perfect location-close to both Poipu Beach and Shipwreck Beach. The comfort and special amenities of the house were perfect for our family of 7 to cook, visit and relax together. It was also a perfect location for exploring the rest of the beautiful island of Kauai. Ning, the owner, is very friendly and easy to deal with. She has an informative website, sent regular e-mails and left very thorough notes about the house, Poipu Beach as well as adventures around the island. I would definitely recommend Bird of Paradise for a perfect family vacation!" - Anne Merritt, Ojai, CA, 08/06/10 (inquire/book) "I love Kauai, it's my favorite place to relax and always look forward to returning. The house was comfortable and close to everything we needed! Enjoyed Puka Dog, Bubba's burgers, Lappert's icecream, Roy's and Keoki's (get the hula pie!) Close to Poipu beach and my favorite, Brennecke's because of the waves. Spouting horn wasn't far either and good shopping with the vendors there...Kola town was great too...we did most of our shopping at Walmart right by the airport (there is a costco too) because it was cheaper but the supermarket in Koloa town (big save I think) was good as well and not too far. The house had beach chairs, beach towels, and buggie boards which was really nice. I also liked that you could sit on the deck and see the mountins one way and the water the other. The living room furniture was so comfy as well as the beds! Good find...Thanks for a great 12 days!" - Monica Roik, Keller, TX, 07/24/10 (inquire/book) "Absolutely lovely home in perfect location in Poipu. Easy walk to both Shipwreck and Poipu Beaches. The location is ideal for beaches as well as other island activities. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could possibly want or need. The lanai is a heavenly setting for an outdoor massage. The wireless Internet, TV, and I-Pod docking station are all there if you need a break from nature. Ning has done a superior job of gathering useful information and making it available to her guests. Kauai was the best vacation/ birthday celebration I have ever had, and look forward to coming back!" - Arlene T,, Winnipeg, Manitoba, 03/27/09 (inquire/book) "Ning, Thank you very much for making our Kauai Vacation truly special. Your home was perfect for our family of ten ranging from 2 1/2 months to 85. We had plenty of room around your dinning room table, plus your living room area provided many different places to sit and enjoy the amazing view. The guys enjoyed your new barbecue, and there were enough dishes and cups for our big group. It was great having all the beach chairs, ice chest, & beach equitment to use when we went down to the beautiful beaches near by. Plus it was nice have lots of towels and two washers & dryers in the garage." - Diana, Chico, Ca, 01/21/09 (inquire/book) "This home was exactly as described and even better. The location was great and we had a wonderful time. We especially enjoyed the lenai and barbecue as we wound up eating in most nights (thank God for Costco :)). " - Fay C., Massillon, Oh, 05/28/2008 (inquire/book) "Hi Ning - Thanks for your message and the refunding of our deposit. We did have a wonderful time in your home. Everyone was so impressed with the spaciousness of the home, the privacy it afforded everyone, the kitchen equipment you had, and we loved all the beach equipment -- even the snorkeling stuff. We would certainly love to stay at Bird of Paradise home again, and have already recommended it to friends. " - Marilyn& J., Riverbank, CA, 05/18/2008 (inquire/book) "Our three generations of Collinses, ranging in age from two to seventy-four, all enjoyed our stay at your home. We loved the panoramic view from the living room, the spaciousness of the rooms, the well-equipped kitchen, the nice and plentiful linens, the easy access to Poipu beach, the beach chairs, coolers, and boogie boards that we could use, and the wraparound deck for eating and lounging. Thanks so much!" - Zipporah Collins, Berkeley, CA, 04/28/08 (inquire/book) "Hi Ning, Thank you so much for letting us stay in your home. We all truly had a fantastic time - the kids of course could not get enough of the beach :) The beach gear was invaluable ! We will never hesitate to recommend your home as well as consider it for our next trip. We had some friends who were staying over at a hotel come over to view your home and I've no doubt they'll be contacting you for a future trip too :) Thanks again for an outstanding time! Best Regards, Jenny " - Jenny S., ,Al, 03/29/2008 (inquire/book) "Fabulous home! 4 college couples met for a reunion and celebration of the remarriage of a 5th couple who live on Kauai! Great time! Thanks for all the details!" - Ritz,Tesar,Baker,Vandermuelen, 03/24/08 (inquire/book) "Ning We can't say enough thanks for such a great gathering place! Your home is exceptionally well appointed and stocked! We shared meals nearly every night with 5 couples as one couple lived on the island. The kitchen was fabulous and everyone had a marvelous time. We would definitely stay again and want to especially acknowledge your caretaker (Bill) as he assisted us with the malfunctioning dryer and water heater. What was especially nice was the close proximity to all the beaches, hikes and groceries. Great house! It is perfect for what we needed and look forward to visiting again! Mahalo Ritz' et al " - Debbie R., Bend, OR, 03/20/2008 (inquire/book) "We loved our stay at your home in Poipu, our large party turned out to only be 3 adults, one toddler, so we had ample space, no complaints there! Having all of the house items to borrow was really nice, especially the pack n play & stroller! We will definitely be recommending this house to our friends! Mahalo" - Deida Runswick, Hailey, Idaho, 03/16/08 (inquire/book) "There were 7 of us in our group and the house was large enough that we never got in eachother's way. We ended up cooking more than we planned because the home was so wonderful." - Joan LaChapelle, Elk Grove, CA., 03/11/08 (inquire/book) "Ning, I want to thank you for the courtesies you have shown me in the last ten months and to let you know what a grand stay we had in your beautiful home. Our group consisted of four couples. The home was ideal for our purposes, affording all sufficient privacy when wanted, but yet the "common area" accommodated all very comfortably. The lanai was terrific for breakfasts and the dinners we ate "in" with a spectacular mountain view. Kauai is certainly a special place, probably the most beautiful of the islands. Once again, Mahalo, we hope to put together another group in two or three years and we would like to arrange a rental at that time." - Peter and Eunice Wilson, Danville CA, 03/09/08 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful stay at Bird of Paradise - the house is lovely - well maintained, tastefully decorated and very comfortable with spectacular mountain views. It has a nice atmosphere about it and feels like a home that has hosted many happy vacations! We would stay here again without hesitation and can highly recommend it - thank you Ning and family for sharing your beautiful home!" - Emma Rouwhorst, Grand Haven MI, 02/12/08 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning, We had a wonderful time, even though we had a lot of rain the first few days. We found out that the clouds actually feel good when they cover the sun while you're laying on the beach. Your home was soooo comfortable. There were 7 of us and I never felt like we were in eachother's way. We found several good restaurant's to eat at but found that we cooked more than we expected because it was fun to just be at the house. Those are great beach chairs and easy to carry. I have had several friends ask me to bring them pictures so they could have it for furture references for family gatherings. My neighbors have two sons who got married in Maui, so I could see them coming to Kauai. I liked Kauai best, a much better pace and a beautiful island. Thank you for sharing your home, Joan " - Joan L., Elk Grove, CA, 02/11/2008 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning! Brrrrrrrrrr - we are back in the Michigan cold again now too!!!!! Thank you for your email regarding the deposit - I can confirm that it has been refunded to my account with no problems - thank you for arranging this so promptly! Thank you so much for making your house available to us - we had a wonderful time there and it really was perfect for us - you and your family are so fortunate to have such a beautiful home on such a beautiful island! The views from the lounge area and lanai were just spectacular, what a wonderful backdrop to enjoy! It was nice being close to some great restaurants too - we particularly enjoyed Roys and The Beach House! We hope to return to Kauai before too long and will definitely keep Bird of Paradise in mind for any future trips and would also gladly recommend it to any of our friends that might be planning a vacation in Kauai too. Thank you too for the postcard that I received in England, it was really thoughtful of you! I hope you and your family had a really great Christmas vacation! Mahalo once again! Best wishes Emma Morley " - Emma M., Glastonbury Somerset BA6 8AG,Un, 01/30/2008 (inquire/book) "Dear Ning, We had a fabulous time in your beautiful home! The place was spic-and-span clean when we arrived and we easily found all that we needed, including which light switches worked which lights, all kitchen items, outdoor stuff, and how to get around the area. Hopefully, we will return to Kauai and I can assure you that if so, we will contact you. Thank you again for letting us stay in your gorgeous home! The Fetzer Family Margie and Oliver, Ben, Natalie and Alec " - Margie F., Needham, MA, 01/25/2008 (inquire/book) "The weather was rainy and windy, but our stay at Bird of Paradise was our best visit to Kaua'i yet. The house is spacious and Ning is a great landlord. She left so many nice things for us. It was great to have the bungalow for one set of our adult children and the other slept downstairs. We all had togetherness and then privacy as well. The laundry room in the garage is very convenient and the living room is great for hanging out. We watched a full day of bowl games on 1/1/08 and we didn't mind the weather because the room was so comfortable for TV, puzzles and games. You won't find a nicer house or one with a nicer landlord." - Sandy Anderson, Orinda CA, 01/06/08 (inquire/book) "We're leaving behind an umbrella stroller, some sand toys in a little backpack and an air mattress. Hopefully some future renters (or you) can make some use of them in the future! We've greatly appreciated the accommodations and it feels like a home to us. Thanks for the bathroom amenities from that Koloa shop. aloha kevin " - Kevin F., Stockton, CA, 10/24/2007 (inquire/book) "Great place for the price, size, and location. We had a great family vacation at this home. It was spacious and the kitchen had all the utensils to make it functional for kids meals and family dinners. It is a longer walk to the beach than we thought. We spent alot of time watching the sunrise and sunset on the patio. The house was clean and the beds were made. The lower basement rooms are the best place for the kids. The master suites are large enough for play pen by the bedside. We needed the water heater reset for some reason, and the resort maintenance responded quickly. The price was affordable for our large family to vacation at Kauai together. A few minor nuisances was the bird droppings on the patio rails and rusted beach chairs. The movie selection was sparse so bring your own." - Trent, Phoenix, AZ, 10/09/07 (inquire/book) "Our family had a great visit to Kauai and we enjoyed your beautiful home. We had a great time here! The house is well stocked for all of the activities we wanted to do. We enjoyed the kitchen for our meals. The grand kids loved playing in the living room. Thank you for renting to us. If I know anyone going, I will make sure to tell them about your rental. If we ever make it back, we know where to stay. Thanks again! ~Sally Nielsen " - Sally N., Phoenix, AZ, 09/22/2007 (inquire/book) "Your home is just that a HOME. We felt so comfortable in it. Even with ten people we did not feel crowded at all. The view overlooking everything was great! And once we understood the beltways - you could really get around to everything we needed. Thank-you! for making our first family vacation an experience we will want to do again soon. Mahalo - Rosa Whipple P.S. Duane's burgers(Anahola) are better than Bubba's and JoJo's Shaved Ice(Waimea)is the best!" - Rosa Whipple, Carlsbad, CA, 09/13/07 (inquire/book) "A year ago we started planning our vacation here in Kauai. Ten family members, 3 generations. Your house was perfect for us! What a lovely home. Our 7 days flew by, but we leave with such beautiful memories. The snorkeling beach by Brennecke's was our favorite. Shaved ice at Jo Jo's was the best! We had a Blast Tubing at Kauai's Back Country Adventure. Star gazing was another favorite. Best luau on the island - the Smith Family Luau. Sorry but Bubba's Burgers are over rated. Duanes Charbroiled Burgers in Anahola are the best! Sunrises & Sunsets are breath taking (Sister in law Mary especially loved the sunrises). Truley believe we found heaven on earth! We all hope to return someday! The location couldn't be more perfect, situated only 8 walking minutes to fantastic beaches, snorkeling and more. Kauai is truly a paradise from here in sun drenched Poipu all the way to the north with the way to the north with the always wonderful Queen Bath in Princeville. Mahalo. As hard as it is to leave, knowing we can return softens the blow. Your home is lovely and we tried to keep and leave it that way. My son was impressed you had a Turbo Surf bodyboard--he has one too. " - John N., New York, NY, 08/21/2007 (inquire/book) "Hi Ning, Yes, we had a wonderful time in your very relaxing home! It was perfect for all 6 of us and so accomodating. We were out most days but enjoyed card games (Apples to Apples) nightly at the big family dinner table. We did take advantage of your new lanai (in between rain drops)!!! It was a great home away from home. Mahalo, Valerie" - Valerie & Lee Baker, Hayward, CA, 06/10/07 (inquire/book) "Our children and grandchildren (9 people) had a fabulous time staying at Bird of Paradise. Everything we possibly needed was provided. The house was clean and well-cared for, very spacious, and provided a wonderful view of mountains and ocean from the lanai, where we enjoyed our morning coffee every day. We would love to enjoy this home again in the future." - Margaret Eby, Muskogee, OK, 06/02/07 (inquire/book) "Hello Ning, We really enjoyed your place. Thanks for the use of the wave boards. We had some big waves to enjoy at Poipu one day and also over at Barking Sands. The kids kept us busy with horseback riding, ziplining & Rob took Lance on the ATV outing at the old Sugar Mill. My parents enjoyed the central location of your house. They drove in and out of Waimea daily I think! We noticed the island was a lot busier than during our last visit (and a lot more traffic along roads going in and out of Lihue). It was really quite dry - we never saw a raindrop or a rainbow during the whole three weeks; but this made it a lot easier for the kids to trek along the NaPali trails. Anyway, we certainly enjoyed ourselves and will contact you if we manage to free ourselves up from work to head back within the next year or two. Again, thanks for everything! Bonnie, Rob, Lance & Kaely Midland, MI 48642 " - BONNIE &., Midland, MI, 06/01/2007 (inquire/book) "I want to thank you so much for sharing your home with us. We had such a wonderful time, and appreciated so much your friendly hospitality. The late checkout was a big help to us and allowed us to take the grandchildren to the beach one more time before we left. The kitchen was so well supplied and it was great to have a washer and dryer available and not have to take home a suitcase full of dirty clothes. We hope that we can stay there again in the not-so-distant future. Again, Ning, I can't tell you enough how pleasant it was to deal with you, and how much I appreciated how quickly you responded to my emails and how you tried to please us in every way. Mahalo! After experiencing many Kauai vacation rentals over the last several years, we are happy to say your home is one of the very best! Your elevated view to Haupu Mountain is spectacular! We very much appreciated how well-equipped and furnished it was. The spacious floor plan was perfect for our group of friends and family members. Bill and Kay Oldham were so very attentive and personable house managers! As long as your home is available, we will always consider it to be our 1st choice for future Poipu rental. The owners make this such a simple process and provide everything you need, not to mention, the house is absolutely amazing. We rented this house for our wedding party and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. The pictures do not do it justice. This house is beautiful and in such a convenient location. Thank you." - Jenn and Nick, Seattle, WA, 05/17/07 (inquire/book) "While the pictures and description of Bird of Paradise seemed very inviting and beautiful, I was not quite expecting the breathtaking views from the spacious and airy living room of this home. It was the perfect place to pray, meditate, gather one's thoughts and contemplate. The layout of the home flows and it is quite spacious, equipped with everthing a person or persons might need to be comfortable. There is really no need to go to any four star restaurants, as the dining accomodations also showcase a spectacular view of the mountains. The gourmet kitchen and a trip to the local farmer's market could inspire any number of culinary adventures. The cozy bungalow off to the right of the house is simply charming and provides the feeling of being in another time and place. It is conveniently located by the wonderful Poipu and Shipwreck beaches which beckoned me to rise early and experience indescribable sunrises (a mere 5-10 minute walk away). It was truly a gift to have the privacy and beauty of this magnificent home to ourselves. We left restored and rejuvenated! Thank you!" - Maria Perez, marlboro, new york, 04/18/07 (inquire/book) "We all enjoyed our stay so very much...many friends have admired our pictures and wanted more informaton about renting your home. It was truely beautiful. Perhaps we will be able to return next year I appreciate your time and look forward to hearing from you. Rebecca Daley " - Rebecca D., Ewing NJ, 08, 03/31/2007 (inquire/book) "Our stay in Kauai was awesome and staying at the Bird of Paradise Home made it even better! The home was more than accomdating for our group of 8. The lovely home was extremely clean and stocked with all we needed. Having the local soaps & lotions was a nice touch! Our 19 year olds & guys liked the basket of used sunscreens..We only brought 30+ and they wanted 15-. The kitchen had enough pots & pans to handle cooking for our big eaters. We made two trips to Cost Co! It did take us a day to locate the correct swimming pool and the 19 year olds (boys) were told they could not swim at the Hyatt :). They discovered the locals hang out at the beach in front of the Sheraton so of course they forgot all about the Hyatt! The location of the home was very convenient for walking to the beach, pool, shopping, restaurants and of course beautiful hiking trails. We highly recommend ATV riding with Kipu Ranch Adventures and Zip lining with Princeville Adventures. You have to eat at Dukes and Keokee's, plus you can't leave the Island without at least one Puka Dog. The Lu'au at the Hyatt was fantastic. And last but not least, I think between all of us we tried every flavor and combination of Shaved Ice (get the ice cream on the bottom). All of us want to come back! After staying in your home it made the experience that much better! The photos online just don't do the home justice. We brought my parents with us for vacation and they were sorry to leave the view behind, my mom almostcried while we were packing. We plan on staying again next year! Thanks Again! You have a beautiful home and my family and I are thankful you could share it with us. It was my parents first trip to Kauai and your home made them feel just that, at home. For that I cannot thank you enough. It is a vacation they are not soon to forget. Also, thanks for the quick refund of our deposit. It's needed for the credit card bill after that vacation! You'll be hearing from us next year! Thanks, Robert Tobin " - Robert T., Zieglerville, PA, 03/01/2007 (inquire/book) "Ning, We absolutely LOVED YOUR HOME! It is beautifully furnished and includes everything anyone could possibly want or need! Thank you! We were all very comfortable--all 8 of us--and wished we could stay on for the balance of the month! I am encouraging everyone I talk with to visit Kauai and stay in your beautiful home--It is just wonderful! I enjoyed speaking with your husband on Monday--and also called Kay Oldham. I was delighted to hear that she gives visitors' unopened food to the food bank and other food stuffs to her neighbors in need...because we left a lot of food! As much as we loved your home, we were gone most of every day enjoying the island. Your home is a treasure which I have recommended to my friends already and also sent your link to them and to my travel agency, telling them to recommend it. The Play and Pac was the perfect little bed for our 15 month old granddaughter and the king size bed worked well for their whole family when the little ones needed to be near mom and dad. I so appreciate the crock pot as we were able to start a meal in the morning and have dinner ready to eat when we arrived home after a day of fun. The weather cooperated with only 1 or two little showers during the day that passed very quickly. I apologize for not e-mailing you immediately on our return but the bustle of the holidays was upon us on our return. Again, we cannot have imagined a nicer vacation spot for our whole family. We will be recommending your home to anyone who asks. We have already told a relative, Robyn and Tom Miller of the Seattle area and are forwarding the information to them. Have a wonderful new year and mahalo! Darlene Nason " - Darlene &., Hayden Lake, ID, 12/19/2006 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning: Thank you so much for the visit in your home. Our stay could not have been nicer. I did confirm the refund on my account and appreciate your attention to this. We had a fantastic time in Hawaii and loved the house. It was very hard to come home, back to reality. Thanks again for everything you did for us and for making the house so enjoyable. Best regards, David " - Jan S., 862 S Euclid Ave,Pa, 12/11/2006 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning! What a fabulous time we had in your home for our 10 day family vacation. We had a total of 9 people which included 5 adults and 4 children ages 13, 11 1/2, almost 5 and a 3 year old. There was plenty of room and no one felt like we were crammed at all. Kitchen had all the dishes, pot and pans that we needed and more! Could have used a few more dish towels though but I just ran to KMart and bought a couple and left them there for others! Living room was full of room and even had some movies to choose from. We had brought some from home and accidentally left one there Ice Age the Meltdown so enjoy if you ever rent this place and had children and need a kid movie! Views from around the house was so refreshing and hearing the birds in the am was so much fun! There is basically nothing bad to say about this home. Great location, plenty of room and nice to have access to beach chairs, mat, etc. etc. The extra room made it feel like a whole other apartment so everyone had ample room and room to spare. We definately would rate this home a 10 plus, and will recommend it to friends and would use it again if the opportunity came up. Thanks again Ning for everything you have a wonderful home and I hope all renters keep it that way and enjoy it has much as our family did. Mahalo - Samantha and family" - Samantha Miller, Ferndale, WA, 12/05/06 (inquire/book) "You have such a lovely home & we loved staying at your house. It was comfortable the entire time, lovely view, and close distant to good restaurants and beaches. We came during a great week -most of the time it was sunny -but even though it rained sometimes -we still had a great time in your wonderful home. It felt like home. Great restaurants were - the broiler, and good beaches - walking distance. This house was a great rental. We have been incredibly lucky with the weather....and everything else involved with our trip so far. I want to especially thank you for having Kay and Bill close by. They are helpful and warm and inviting and have patience for any and all of our questions and requests.....we appreciate them believe me. Each morning I awaken and sit here and soak in your view.....wanting to remember it forever. You are so fortunate to have this property.....and somehow I know you know that. I hope all is well with you and your family. This truly has been the one of those memories that will last a lifetime. My mother did well and since you asked about how the configuration of the house worked for her, I will say that the fact that you had a full hand rail for the stairs and a half-bath on the living room level made it much easier and safer for her. It was especially nice that there were many "conversation areas" in the living room area where one could read, check their email, or doze off even and not feel like you were away from the group. We will be happy to recommend your home to people who will be vacationing in Kauai. It was very conveniently located; I loved the lanai; and you had a surplus of drinking glasses for our thirsty group of seven (my family still can't keep track of their own glass and always look for a clean one!). We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and BBQ that allowed us to have some meals there in a more relaxed and informal atmosphere. Everything was very comfortable for us. We were thrilled to have use of the beach toys, mats, & chairs. Your decorations are lovely! Your lovely home is positioned perfectly to take advantage of the panoramic views. Thank you for sharing it with flat landers like us from Oklahoma!" - The Mackeys, Tulsa, OK, 10/19/06 (inquire/book) "A Perfect vacation home, Private yet friendly, view to die for, Cool, Classy, Comfortable. Will be back on our visit to Kauai. Regarding comments on our stay, we must commend your on-site managers for their excellent support and service regarding the refrigerator replacement as well as their recommendations during our stay. My wife and sister both entered positive remarks and reflections in your guestbook should be of interest. Thanks again. " - Ben V., Prescott, AZ, 10/05/2006 (inquire/book) "A perfect vacation home. Will be back on our next visit to Kauai." - Ben & Betty Valentine, Prescott, AZ, 10/05/06 (inquire/book) "As the beloved sister of Ben Valentine, I was so fortunate to join them for this fabulous trip. I loved the delightful cottage room with breezes, birds chirping, fronds waving, and darling decor. Love the location of this private home. The paths go to the pool and the beach by Brennecke's, & the other way to the Grand Hyatt, Shipwreck beach & good golfing. Something for everyone's taste is nearby. Thank you for opening your home to us." - Connie Terry, Monterey, CA, 10/05/06 (inquire/book) "Aloha Ning, Just wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time in your home. It was as comfortable as our own home. We normally go out to eat at least one meal a day but the kitchen allowed my brother-in-law(a gourmet cook), to keep us well fed all the time. Golf was fantastic! Poipu bay offers multiple play packages that are quite reasonable so we played six times. The local beaches were very nice. We toured the entire island and snorkeled at a few spots in Princeville that were great! We will definitely contact you in the future to stay in beautiful Poipu Bay. In addition to having great sleeping, bathing, and cooking facilities, there was plenty of room for all (5 adults) to have adequate space and privacy. Wonderful views from the living room and lanai. Walking distance to great beaches and very good dining (Casa de Amici and Poipu Beach Broiler). We hope to return." - Gary Tyrrell, Half Moon Bay, CA, 09/11/06 (inquire/book) "What a beautiful house! We loved the spectacular view and location that was close to everything. The house is about equal distance to two of the best beaches on the South shore and made for an enjoyable walk. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. We had more than enough room for a party of seven and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We would definitely recommend and hope to return some day. Thanks!!!!" - The Schumachers, Laguna Niguel, CA, 08/24/06 (inquire/book) "Aloha- Love the house- its great for a party of 8. From the looks of the garage I know you must have worked very hard to get it ready for this summer. I would like to make some comments that you can share with other potential visitors. The house is beautiful and clean. We really enjoyed the location in the resort and proximity to the beach. Your communication could not be better and it really helped make a great experience. Anytime you would like a reference, please feel free to use me. BTW, I caught the boat record Ono from Captain Don's fishing trips. It was a 52 pounder. We brought some back to the Bird of Paradise home and had it on the new BBQ. Just like the fish, the house was a big wonderful experience. Thanks again." - Mike Kallbrier, Saratoga, CA, 06/14/06 (inquire/book) "Hello Ning, Thanks again for everything. The home is both spacious and well designed with ample bathrooms and private bedrooms.Very nicely decorated and fully stocked with ample dishes, pots, towels and bedding to everyones satisfaction. There is no airconditiong but the tropical breeze and cross flow windows gave so much comfort that we slept with comforters over us.Each bedroom had two sets of sheets so that doing the laundry frequently is not required. Washer and dryer came in handy though and we made frequent use of them in the double garage which had a stock of beach chairs etc.We could not be any more comfortable and had parking for 4 cars in our own driveway. The self contained private bedroom off from the main house was a nice feature and a pleasure and we three couples rotated every 4 or 5 days so that all could have total privacy for a period of time. The view is breathtaking of the mountains and old volcano on one side and a glimps of the ocean on the other from the huge deck and a great barbecue and outdoor dinning area also. Flower gardens are spectacular also. We were very central to everything on the island here and close to several great beaches also.Just walk down to the end of the road to the ocean for a very pleasant experience and you can watch whales and sea turtles swimming. We were so glad that we rented in this area and Suite Paradise were so helpful also. We definatly would return to this home and to this location as soon as the opportunity presents itself again." - Garnet Anger, Niagara Falls, Ontario, 03/09/06 (inquire/book)
