"Thanks so much for your hospitality. The home truly is special. We were very careful to keep things clean because we felt as guests in your home, not just a number in a room. Evan was super helpful as well. This was a family vacation including that will likely be the last to include my mother and my 2 daughters. I hope not, but mom's almost 80 now, so mobility may be an issue in the future, and my daughters are 22 and 19, so they will have their own lives and adventures too. My mom has never been to Hawaii, so this was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The location is great, allowing us to spend time on the beach - both Poipu and Shipwreck are easy walks, as well as easy drives to either the west cost or north shore. We went as far as possible on foot to the west on Polihale beach, and saw waterfalls coming out of cloud covered mountains west of Prince Town. We hiked Sleeping Giant trail (muddy!), and drove up to the top in Waimea Canyon. The weather didn't cooperate fully, thought we had a fair share of sun to enjoy. Kauai is a much slower pace, more intimate island than Maui (the only other island I've visited so far). I'd love to stay at Bird of Paradise in the future - though I don't know when.
