"My son and I enjoyed a long weekend at Rivermont Cottage. The home offered everything we needed and was so warm and cozy. Sitting on the deck listening to nature and the river was so very peaceful. We took a picture from the living room of the view out the large picture window facing the river. The view was so incredible and it actually looks like a painted picture on the wall. We walked to the waterfalls nearby and were simply amazed. We were fortunate enough to meet the owners on our way out and they were just as wonderful as the house. "We just spent Thanksgiving 2004 at Rivermont and had such a wonderful time! I was all and even more then we thought it would be. Having stayed at many beach rentals I was so pleased to have all the linins supplied as well as so many extras! Our springer spaniel enjoyed being able to run on the near by logging road and not be left at the kennel! "The Rivermont Cottage in the Mt. Mitchell Golf Course Community, Burnsville NC is an excellent place to vacation. Our family of four enjoyed the cottage emmensely. I personally liked the trout fishing... the time to reflect and time away from the demands of phone. The cottage is furnished with all the amenities to make the stay confortable and enjoyable. "Dear Becky, Just wanted to let you know that we had a great time at Rivermont this past week! The house was wonderful...The kids were thrilled with the location and everything, including the "loft" ! Matt (13) gave the chipmunk that came to the feeder every morning a name. He really enjoyed the view from his room. Amanda (15) enjoyed being able to walk out onto the deck from her room and she thought the bathroom setup was "cool". The dog ( BJ ) just liked everything !.....better than a fenced in yard! We did the 2 mile ( moderate-strenuous ) hike up Mt Mitchell with BJ. It was awesome! We alternated days between "family day" and looking for property days. The family days included hikes and the caverns. It was one of the most relaxing family vacations we have had in a long time. I think the kids are all hiked out for now though. Anyway, thanks again for helping us have a wonderful time! "Dear Becky, Just wanted to let you know how wonderful our week was at the cottage. None of us had ever stayed in a more restful, serene environment. The cottage is so lovingly maintained that we felt totally pampered. Your thoughtful touches to provide for yours guests' comfort is so evident in everything from the wonderfully stocked kitchen to the soft bed linens. There was nothing that we didn't love, and think that you are very trusting to allow stangers to share in this delightful place. We had wonderful visits to the river, Roaring Creek waterfall and the park down on Route 80. We had great meals at Albert's and the country club as well as at Mt. Mitchell and Little Switzerland. Whenever I learn of someone wanting to visit the mountains, I will tell them about Rivermont; it was truly all that I had hoped for and more. Thanks again for sharing this treasure with us.
