"The Orchid House was a perfect fit for our group of 3 couples and 2 children. Once the kids realized there was a trundle bed under the day bed in the sun room/reading room just off the pool, they quickly staked their claim. FYI, the door from that particular room that leads to the pool has a child lock high up on the door making it easy to keep the pool area secure so little ones aren't wandering out there unsupervised day or night. There are also several children's books and games in the closet of the bedroom off the sunroom, so that section of the house was very much appreciated and well-used by my husband, myself and the kids. The beds are all comfortable and each room is equipped with air conditioning, however, we rarely used it as the trade winds cooled it off adequately at night (we traveled over Christmas and New Years). We appreciated having two washers and dryers and a garage full of pool and beach toys, including a beach umbrella, children's life jackets, floaties, tons of boogie boards, coolers, etc. There was really nothing we needed other than our own snorkeling gear. The kitchen is fully equipped with a rice cooker, slow cooker, plenty of cookware including extra large sizes of pots and pans, spices and several staples like oil, soy sauce, etc. The views from the upstairs bedrooms and living area are outstanding and we saw so many whales! The house is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood on a hill that overlooks the few houses between it and the ocean for an unobstructed view and it is only about a 10 minute walk to Shipwreck and Poipu Beaches. There is both a long way and a short-cut to Shipwreck beach, but I would highly recommend taking the long walk at least once with your camera as there are several areas where the waves crash quite violently into the cliffs. Amazing to watch! The house is also close to two shopping areas, one with a weekly Farmer's Market that is a must if you want to sample some of the more exotic local produce. The property manager gave us some great tips (he saved us a significant chunk of change on our kayaking excursion) and he was always just a text away to answer any questions. It was like having our own personal concierge. Truly a home away from home. Mahalo for the amazing vacation!"
