"We had a great time in Stowe and the condo was close to the mountain. It was also well supplied and maintained. With 7 people, it was a little tight. It would work really well for 6. There was plenty of room for our ski gear (which is a lot for 7 skiiers). The tv and wireless took a minute to figure out. Leslie was super helpful ; responding quickly and walking us through. The hot water thing (under the sink button) was quirky but we had more than enough hot water for cooking as well as multiple showers, even at the same time." - Claire W., 03/05/2020 (inquire/book) I’m Glad to hear you and your team had a great time! I do agree that the Théâtre is tight for 8, but you are so right about it being perfect for 6. Thanks so much for having a great time! Do come back. Leslie
"Good location, pretty setting, and great hot tub! maintenance items needing attention... picture frame in DR wall was broken and off wall when we arrived and towel bar in master bath coming out of wall." - steve m., 03/01/2020 (inquire/book) Good morning! Glad you and your family had a wonderful time skiing in Stowe - and I’m glad you loved my home away from home. I’ve alerted the maintenance teams to the issues you mentioned - and they will get them fixed promptly. It’s always a wonder how things can get broken! I’m sorry things weren’t perfect though. I do try for perfect. Thanks again for choosing the Theatre for your ski holiday. Leslie
"The condo was great. Wonderful location, easy checkin, quick response from maintenance when we had an issue with the fireplace, nice pool for the kids. Great to have washer and dryer in condo especially with kids. We would stay there again" - Jan G., 02/17/2020 (inquire/book) "Charmingly decorated and well-equipped. The unit really contributed to a relaxing stay. Loved sitting on the screened in porch both morning and evening. Otherwise, we were on the go. And, a bonus for a Stowe property was the Direct TV and plentiful DVD movies provided." - Leslie E., 06/09/2019 (inquire/book) "Leslie is incredibly nice and understanding. I was coming up to ski with a group of friends to stay for a long weekend. The reservation was under my name, however, I was going to be in the last car showing up. Leslie kindly understood and I gave her the names of my friends so they could pick up the keys for our apartment. The apartment is comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with the necessary things to cook and the fridge was completely clean. Everyone told me they slept well in their respective beds. Overall had a great time and would consider booking this spot again." - Jonathan T., 03/25/2019 (inquire/book) I’m so glad you had a great time. The skiing in Stowe has been amazing - and I agree - our location totally works for a ski trip! Of course it helps that there are so many restaurants within easy strolling distance! Stowe is a delight. Glad you and your friends had a wonderful time. Leslie
"We had a great time staying at the Theater In The Woods! The place was very clean and cozy. We had 7 guests which in my opinion was probably as much as you really wanted. Could probably get away with 8 people but i think 6 is ideal. Very cozy and was conveniently located between Stow Mountain resort and town!" - Nick N., Cleveland, 03/07/2019 (inquire/book) I’m so glad you guys had a blast at the Theatre in the Woods - totally my pleasure to host you! And isn’t Stowe amazing this time of year! Just awesome. Leslie
"Very comfortable, cozy place, with everything we needed. Location is perfect, between skiing and town, close to ski shops and restaurants, etc. Nice open living room and kitchen, comfortable bedrooms. Very convenient front vestibule for ski equipment. Pool-house with hot tub is right around the corner. Leslie was very responsive to messages. Recommend!" - Thomas W., New York, NY, 02/06/2019 (inquire/book) "We decided to try a new tradition for Thanksgiving and go away for the holiday. We picked the perfect spot in Stowe and the Theater in the Woods was comfy and inviting. It was perfect for our family of 4 and we enjoyed good meals, movies, and board games. Only issue was that there was not a can opener included in the kitchen supplies, but we picked one up at the local grocery store. We enjoyed our time and would love to return for another visit!" - Mimi O., 12/09/2018 (inquire/book) "Overall, we had a great August week in Stowe. The theater was just as advertised and we were completely happy with our stay. I know when I read reviews, I like to hear both the pros and cons to each place. No place is perfect, but it helps to hear what people perceive as the cons to help me determine if that is a deal breaker for me and my family. Pros: - Location: near everything that Stowe has to offer - Movies/TV options: Great for downtime after outdoor activities or rainy day. 3D TV and movies were a hit with kiddos - Very friendly and helpful staff on site (not just saying, every interaction left me with a smile) - Mudroom was very helpful in getting the kids out of messy shoes/clothes before going into the living area - Loved having washer & dryer on site - Screened in porch was perfect Cons (even though we'd gladly stay here again): - Hot water took awhile to get up to showers and kitchen sink - Beds were not the most comfortable - Funky smell that was noticeable upon entering. Sometimes it got worse than other times. Musty. (perhaps the AC?) - Mousetraps on floor in kitchen gave you an icky feeling - Indoor pool area had to be about 95+ degrees, very stuffy. Outside was low 80s. Water was extremely cloudy. Kids couldn't see the one next to them with their goggles. Overall, 4.5 stars, rounding up rather than down." - Jeff N., 08/28/2018 (inquire/book) Hi back at ya! Yeah - mousetraps are icky - but we are totally in the woods - and mice love our wooden buildings. I’m glad you were able to ignore them! Otherwise - I’m glad you and your family had a wonderful time - it was my pleasure to host you! Leslie
"This condo is cozy and well equipped. It is walking distance to several restaurants and there is an indoor pool and outdoor playground. The AC was very helpful due to 90+ degree weather during our stay. Your marketing emphasizes the television but doesn’t give you an address or the name of the resort or a main office phone number. We were traveling from Seattle and experienced frustration locating the resort. We recommend amending the title to be “Theater in the Woods at Mountainside Resort, Stowe, VT”. The physical address of the resort and check-in process at the office should be included in the VRBO materials. We had NO hot water in our unit for two days. We were instructed to let the water run for 5-10 minutes so it would warm up – not only did this not work, but it was a huge waste of water. After several phone calls and 3 visits to the office, we think they needed to replace part of the hot water system to get it running. Our biggest frustration was lack of feedback from the office. We were never informed what was going on or when the issue would be resolved." - Anonymous, 07/09/2018 (inquire/book) "The Theatre in the Woods was the perfect home for our family of 4. The condo has all the amenities one could need (great TV, wifi, DVD selection, everything for cooking, etc.) and is in the perfect location. Minutes away from Main Street in Stowe, Von Trapp Family Lodge, close to Waterbury, Shelburne, Burlington. The condo itself sits on a resort that includes a playground and pool (super convenient!) We wish we could have stayed longer! Leslie is amazing and extremely responsive and accommodating. My daughter has been talking about going back to the house since we came home! Looking forward to our next visit!!" - Cheryl R., 11/10/2017 (inquire/book) I’m always so very very happy to hear that my casa was your casa! Thanks so much for the lovely review - and I’m so happy you had such a great time. Do come back please! Leslie
"Great condo stay. The entertainment set-up is as good as advertised. We appreciated the updated kitchen and cooking in it. Location makes it accessible to the recreation path, route 108 towards Smugglers Notch and downtown Stowe." - Carol J., 08/06/2017 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful stay at the “Theatre in the Woods.” The three bedroom unit was clean and nicely decorated. It has a great entry hall. We were there in the summer, but I can see for people who go there to ski, it would be great to have that much room to take off winter wear. There are TWO bathrooms, and we were two couples, so that worked out very well. One of the bathrooms had on-site laundry. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a dishwasher. The living room was a nice size and we enjoyed the big screen TV, although we never did try out the 3D option. There are lots of games for adults and children alike, and there is even a small library of books available for those rainy days. The porch was lovely. It faces into the woods, and was a quiet peaceful place to read, or take a nap! We used the pool and hot tub available at the complex several times. It was a very central location. We were there for July 4th, and we were able to walk across the road for a good place to see the fireworks in the evening, and we were able to walk to the Hot Air Balloon festival held each year in Stowe. We were close to many bike/walking paths, we went to the Waterbury Reservoir (cost $4 per person to get in), we had a great ride on the Gondola, and of course, we went down the road to Ben and Jerry’s. Nothing seemed to be more than a few minutes drive away. We enjoyed ourselves very much, and would definitely go back here." - Anonymous, 07/21/2017 (inquire/book) "We had a great stay! Very clean and comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out. We will definitely be back!" - Anonymous, 05/19/2017 (inquire/book) I'm so glad you had such a great time! Do please come back - Stowe is awesome any time of the year - spring, summer, winter or fall - there is something fun to do and see. And of course the The Theatre is there waiting for you! Leslie
"We stayed at the Theater in the Woods for our Feb vacation with our 4 kids - ages 5-16. Accommodations were great and close to the ski hill. Clean, well stocked, and very comfortable. Close to a number of restaurants and enjoyed the movie selections." - Stellina M., Where do you live?, 04/30/2017 (inquire/book) "Extremely clean and well-maintained property. We were able to get a Pack'n Play for my daughter's infant as well as a high-chair. Although we were not going there for skiing necessarily, it is a perfect location for all winter activities. Large screen TV with a selection of 3-D movies, a definite plus. Thank you." - Benoit C., 04/18/2017 (inquire/book) I'm so glad you guys loved the Theatre! I think the location is wonderful too - so close to so many nice places to eat. And so close to excellent hiking and walking and skiing spots. I admit that the Stowe Path is a 'Must Do' every time my family gets to Stowe. Leslie
"I stayed here for a bachelorette wknd getaway and the property was just what we needed. We stayed in, we cooked, we played games and we watched tv. The hot tub was awesome after a day of show shoeing and sledding. My only hiccup was that there was so cell service so I couldn't not make a phone call, but they did have wifi so I was able to still keep in contact. I would definitely stay here again and the trip was awesome." - Keisha S., 04/09/2017 (inquire/book) Thanks so much for loving the Theatre - it's my baby, and I love it too! A note on dealing with no cell service - and this came from the Best Buy Guys who installed that awesome 3D HD TV. On your cell phone, there is an option to use WIFI instead of cell - and it's free! If you are a US subscriber, you only need turn it on (it's in settings somewhere). If you are Canadian - then you have to get permission from your cell provider because turning this on makes you harder to locate if you call 911. But it works a treat! And did I mention it's free. I do love free. Back to the Theatre - right - we provide the best WIFI we can - so I'm thrilled you used it to the hilt. Thanks for the review. Leslie
"This place was perfect for some late season skiing. Everything was as pictured, and I appreciated the well stocked kitchen. Thanks again!" - Tom N., 04/06/2017 (inquire/book) "The condo was exactly as advertised. Awesome place, will re-book next time" - John s., 01/30/2017 (inquire/book) Glad you had a blast! Looking forward to seeing you again, too. Leslie
"This is definitely one of our favorite places in Stowe. The location is ideal, within walking distance/short drive to everything. The unit itself is very nice, up to date and clean. Best of all is the owner Leslie. She is very responsive to any issues that may arise. We had a problem with the tv going out and she had a replacement installed the next day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone staying in Stowe." - David H., 11/20/2016 (inquire/book) Ah thanks so much! I'm just so glad you guys let me know there was a problem - that was great. And I'm super happy you had a good time in my home away from home. Leslie
"A perfect place to stay while enjoying the fall color at Stowe. The unit is well maintained and up-to-date, and the kitchen had all items necessary to prepare a meal or snack. Many restaurants close by...but there is a restaurant (Sunset Grill) which is just across the street...handy if you don't wish to travel. I would definitely stay there again." - Jan & Pete D., Sugar Grove, IL, 10/16/2016 (inquire/book) Ah, Autumn in Vermont - truly nothing quite like it. And I'm so glad you guys loved Stowe and the Theatre in the Woods. I must admit to a great fondness for just breathing in the delightful air of Vermont - so clean and fresh. So very different from the air in the city! Glad to hear you discovered the Sunset Grill - truly a special place - those Chicken Wings - awesome. And of course I'm happy you enjoyed the Theatre in the Woods. I'd be glad to have you back too! Leslie
"Great spot and nice accommodation. Wasn't clear however that this is part of a large complex of units which made it a bit noisy - dependent on the neighbour you end up with." - Tony v., Wellington, NZ, 07/10/2016 (inquire/book) Glad you had a great time! I am sorry to hear you found the neighbors noisy- I have to admit that's the first time I've heard that - the Theatre in on the 3rd floor (level with the parking lot - hence - Mountainside) - and the only unit above you is my personal unit - and we are hardly ever there - and very quiet of course when we are. Nevertheless - if you have trouble - please call the resort office. They are awesome at solving problems - if they know about them. Again - great to hear that you loved the Theatre = it's my home away from home - and I totally love it of course. Leslie
"After an unfortunate experience staying at a dumpy apartment, walking into Theater in the Woods was a breath of fresh air. It is a comfortable, cozy, inviting place to stay in Stowe where we would, and probably will, return. Actually, I don't even think the photos on the web site do it justice. Theater in the Woods has all the amenities one could need in a home away from home and is very well taken care of. Nice to see such care and attention going into a rental home. Thank you Leslie!" - Martha C., 07/03/2016 (inquire/book) I'm so glad The Theatre was so perfect for you guys. You really got lucky - and so did I to have you guys as my guests. I love love love having happy guests! Welcome to the Theatre family - I'm glad you decided to contact the folks at Mountainside! Happy Holidays, Happy Familys - Makes my day! Leslie
"A beautiful location in a beautiful town! We LOVED the screen porch and especially the swing. The kids enjoyed the 3D movies (Wreck it Ralph and Book of Life), the on property playground and the pool. We visited Ben & Jerrys, hiked to a waterfall and let the kids splash in the creek, and visited the Trapp family lodge. Other than that, we relaxed and refreshed with our family and friends at this lovely property. Thank you for sharing your space with us!" - Julie G., 06/15/2016 (inquire/book) Isn't that brand new swing absolutely fab? I loved it when I saw it - had to get it for my home away from home! And I'm really glad you guys had time to watch those 3 D movies. I am particularly fond of Avatar and Journey to the Center of the Earth. Glad to hear that Stowe, and the Theatre in the Woods worked perfectly for you and your family. My idea of the great review. Thanks. Leslie
"The condo was exactly what we needed, and we enjoyed our stay immensely. Leslie runs a tight ship, and we had no issues with our reservation at all." - Alicia O., 05/31/2016 (inquire/book) Nice to know you guys had a great time! I love folks that love my home away from home! Leslie
"We have stayed a few places in Stowe and really enjoyed our 5 nights at the Theater! This is in a great location, walk or drive to some great restaurants and everywhere else in the area you need to be. Check-in was so easy and Leslie made everything very easy. The condo is very clean (love very clean bathrooms !), well organized, fresh, nicely furnished and comfortable fora family of 4. The 3-D TV was a blast for the kids (8 and 10) and there were a lot of great movies to choose from! Kids also loved the basketball hoop and meadow to play catch. The front office and owner were both very responsive to any concerns or questions we had. We love Piecasso, The Bench, Dutch Pancake House, PK coffee, and Trapp Family Lodge bakery/brewery. Hike at Bingham Falls, Drive to Smuggler's Notch, biking on the bike path (AJ's was great for rentals and bike purchase), and touring nearby towns, it was all a great time and the Theater was a perfect home base. Thanks!" - melolexx .., Lexington, MA, 04/23/2016 (inquire/book) Oh I totally Agree - AJ's is the best place for bikes - they have great bikes (really fancy ones to basic models) and reasonable prices. Be careful on that first down towards the Stowe Path! It's exciting. And of course I'm thrilled you had a Wonderful time!. Leslie
"It pretty much doesn't get any better than this for a family or group stay in Stowe. Location was great, with nice scenery, and close-by restaurants, bars, and shops, many even within walking distance if you feel like taking a stroll. The size of the resort was perfect, with separate bedrooms for privacy, and a nice enclosed porch out back. Lots of board games and DVDs to keep you occupied if you want to change it up and spend a quiet evening in. Everything was updated, clean, and well-maintained, and the staff was all extremely friendly, helpful, and responsive, in person and via email. I often stay in Stowe as a hub when traveling solo to VT, but this time, with the wife and 19-mo-old along, this was a completely ideal situation. As a craft beer enthusiast, there are many good places to check out nearby, and every time I visit it seems like there's something new popping up. My recommendation this time around is The Bench, a couple miles up the road...pretty much can't beat the taplist there, and the food is good as well. As we do this trip annually, we hope to stay here again next year, and in further years to come!" - Derek V., 11/14/2015 (inquire/book) Wow - I'm so glad you guys had such a good time. So - The Bench is good, eh? It's very new - and in addition to beer - does wood fired pizzas. So I shall definitely have to give it a try. Thanks for a wonderful review - I'm also so happy when people have so much fun at the Theatre.
"This place was absolutely lovely. The condo is extremely well-equipped and maintained. Leslie takes great pride in this place and it shows. This is the first vacation rental that I stayed at in a long time where everything worked and was ready to go. There is lots to do inside (the HDTV, the screened in porch, the book and game collection) on the grounds (pool and tennis courts) and nearby at Stowe. Hiking, biking -- everything is here. There are really good restaurants all down Mountain Road (Piecasso for solid pizza and trivia night on Wednesday, Sauce for great Italian takeout). Also the location is ideal -- not to close to town, not too far from the mountain. Its also just off the back road which enables you to bypass Stowe center to get to the Interstate. Overall, a fantastic experience." - Michael R., 08/29/2015 (inquire/book) I love it when my guests LOVE my home away from home! That's awesome. The best. Don't I have the best guests ever... And I couldn't have done a better job of explaining why the Theatre is just so wonderful - location, activities, - or non-activities. It's all there. Sigh.
"Our stay at The Theatre was a perfect getaway for our family of four. The great reviews and photos of the condo online do not do this place justice. It is so beautiful and spacious and absolutely immaculate. Very close to the parking lot with only a few steps to go down to the front door was a huge plus. The lighting was just right and the TV set-up was fantastic. Our son watched a 3D movie and he said that the picture and sound were just great. Our stay in Stowe was one of the best vacations that we've ever had and much of it had to do with \" - Brian T., 08/14/2015 (inquire/book) "Our family of five had a great weekend here. Everything was great. The kitchen could have been a little better stocked on supplies such as cooking spray, hot sauce (some of those little things you forget to pack/buy at store). Definitely would recommend and would happily rent here again! Love the screened in deck and swing." - Jason C., 07/31/2015 (inquire/book) Hi and Thanks for the suggestion. I love the idea of cooking Spray - and while I can't promise that every guest will find a can in our pantry - I can try! We do provide coated frying pans - and I always pick up some butter when I travel to give food just a bit of that lovely flavor. Glad you had a great time, and I'd love to have you and your family back some time. Leslie
"Perfect vacation spot for a family. After a long day of skiing the kids enjoyed the pool and the 3D TV. The place was clean and a perfect fit for our family of six." - Stephen F., 06/27/2015 (inquire/book) "We really enjoyed this cute condo in Stowe, which was nicely remodeled (much cuter than the other condos at this resort). Owner Leslie was very attentive and answered all my questions very timely. The kitchen and bedrooms were quite small but the super comfy beds and linens, 3D tv in LR, flat screen in master, lots of movies, WiFi, and the big screened in porch made up for it. Having the washer and dryer in the condo was great for midweek laundry. My parents were with us, and this particular condo had only 5 steps from the parking lot. Some of the others had many, MANY more steps up or down. This resort had lots to offer (indoor pool, game room, sauna, jacuzzi, free movie rentals, extra kitchen equipment, tennis courts, basketball court, playground, midweek towel exchange) and was in a convenient location half way between the mountain and town, off Mountain Road. Our family hiked to 3 of the area waterfalls, Bingham Falls was the favorite because of the huge (freezing cold) water hole at the base of the falls for swimming and jumping off rocks. We went to the Chin, once by auto toll road and Long Trail, but husband and son hiked Hell Brook Trail up and Long Trail down on the north end of the mountain (be sure to buy a hiking map at one of the bike shops). The shops in town were fun, but not very many. Our fav was the Mercantile with all the samples. So much to do, so little time- we didn't put a dent in the list. Very fun area for summer vaca. Could have easily spent more than a week here. Oh and the CHEESE- we totally overdosed on cheese samples at Cabot Annex." - diana d., 08/14/2014 (inquire/book) Oh I just so love to hear about great trips to my bit of Paradise! I'm thrilled you guys had a marvelous time - and I can totally tell that you were super busy! Thanks for having a blast. Isn't that the best recommendation ever? Leslie
"We stayed here with a 3 year old and a 16 month old. The Mountainside location for the Theatre in the Woods provided a very large pack n play for the 16 month old and a high chair which was excellent, although we did need to move the double bed in one of the rooms in order to fit the pack n play in there! Great location at one end of the pedestrian trail into town and close (walking distance) to lots of restaurants although it is a steep walk down and then back to the apartment. The pool at the complex is superb, nothing too fancy but you don't need that. The tv system is magnificent and we watched several 3D films. Stowe is a beautiful town, with lots of local businesses (no chains here) and it's easy to get to other towns locally too to sight see. Bike and hiking is great from here. Only downside was that the front room was the only place with air conditioning and two of the bedrooms had ceiling fans, but there was a portable fan for the other bedroom which was badly needed in the hot weather." - Tracy H., Boston, MA, 07/28/2014 (inquire/book) Hi back at ya! I'm so glad you guys had a great time. The Theatre in the Woods is my 2nd home - and I love sharing my special place!
"We rented the place for 3 days. For my graduation weekend, and It was all we needed to host 7 people. The Theatre looked small but with three bedrooms and a sofa bed 8 people can sleep peacefully and comfortably. The TV room/ Living ROO< works is extremely neat, #D movies, the sound system is as good or better than any movie theater I've been to. I will definitely go back to that place without second thoughts if I were to go back to Vermont. We loved it <3" - Teddy J., Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, 06/05/2014 (inquire/book) I'm so pleased that the Theatre was perfect for you guys! That's great to hear. And congratulations again on your Graduation. Leslie
"Really nice place. We were 6 adults, lot of place, super clean, very convenient location. I would recommend it to anybody" - Oli, 04/29/2014 (inquire/book) Oh thank you - thank you. This was a group of serious road bikers - the kind on really expensive titanium 2 wheels - so it was very neat seeing them pedal off in the morning. Talk about dedication. Glad that the Theatre in the Woods provided the perfect resting spot after those serious rides! Totally glad to have met you guys. Leslie
"Tremendous week of spring skiing in Vermont! We skied Stowe, Jay's Peak, Smugglers Notch and Sugarbush. Stowe is right up the road from the condo, and the others were within an hour's drive from the condo. We also toured the Ben & Jerry Ice Cream factory and spent a day in Burlington, VT. This condo has numerous additions that make is special - a notch above the rest. First, the 3-D TV, surround sound, DISH satellite, blue ray, DVD/CD theater system was fantastic! The owner's detailed notes made it very easy to use. The unit has Wi-Fi and a computer, if you don't bring your own electronic devise. The washer/dryer IN THE CONDO was very convenient. It was warm enough that we were able to take advantage of the screen in porch. We never ran out of hot water for showers - with four adults and two teenagers. The bed in the master bedroom was good - it did not sag to the middle like most rental condos. This condo had many subtle amenities, too like hooks everywhere to hang coats, equipment and clothes. The kitchen was efficient and had everything we needed - we ate in most nights. Our son loved the indoor pool and sauna; while we took advantage of the hot tub. The owner provided great information prior to our trip - like recommendations on where to rent skis and how to get good rates on lift tickets. She was a pleasure to work with! We have stayed in ski rental condos for 20 years. This unit was definitely a step above most, especially for the price!" - Steven S., Naperville, IL USA, 04/11/2014 (inquire/book) "We stayed for a weekend getaway at Theatre in the Woods for some much needed family time with our adult children. We needed a place that would offer excitement for the young people and comfort and relaxation for the near retirees. Theatre in the Woods exceeded all our expectations! The location allowed the young people to ski at two nearby slopes while the parents relaxed and took in the sights around Stowe. The unit was comfy, clean, well maintained, with ample room for 6 adults. The kitchen was well-equipped for the chef in our family who made a gourmet meal. The WI-FI was sophisticated for everyone's iphones, ipads, and laptops. We took advantage of the varied DVD collection and board games. Before our arrival, the staff was responsive to all our questions in a timely, courteous manner. Would definitely recommend Theater in the Woods to anyone seeking a weekend retreat in Stowe." - JoAnn G., 03/29/2014 (inquire/book) "We have stayed in many fantastic VRBO apartments but this one is now our favourite. we stayed for a week with 2 daughters and a son in law and there was plenty of space. We skied for a week and the apartment is perfectly placed for the ski slopes. It is exceptionally well equipped in all areas with those lovely homely touches that made it so special. Very clean with luxury bedding and towels. The apartment is very warm and the 3D TV and numerous films were a delight. I have to mention all those box games which provided many hours of fun for 5 adults! The owner, Leslie, is amazingly helpful and efficient in dealing with any questions we had." - Carol, Melbourne Australia, 02/11/2014 (inquire/book) Oh i'm so glad that the Theatre in the Woods in Stowe met your needs. i'm always thrilled to have guests have a great time. And the snow has been amazing this year - which I know makes a ski holiday the best ever. Thanks for the great feedback. Leslie
"Theater in the Woods was nicely appointed, comfortable, very clean, and in a great location. It was close to town and recreation facilities. The collection of games and movies was great and the 3D tv was awesome." - Barbara T., NH, 01/13/2014 (inquire/book) I'm so thrilled you guys had a New Year's BLAST at the Theatre in the Woods. Totally love it when my guests have fun! Leslie
"We enjoyed our stay at this vacation condo. We did however have some issues with the unit which once the owner was notified took immediate action to rectify. The condo was very clean and well appointed. We were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay very much." - Robin T., 10/19/2013 (inquire/book) Always ready to help out! Just let me know. BTW - the issues were with the big TV - it's a complicated hook-up and takes some patience and time to get it just so. I remind people - I wanted easy to use, my husband wanted state of the art. Guess who won!
"We highly appreciated our stay. Great place, clean with full services and even more. Great way to visit and enjoy Stowe's area." - Louis, Quebec City, 01/23/2013 (inquire/book) "We highly appreciated our stay. Great place, clean with full services and even more. Great way to visit and enjoy Stowe's area." - Anonymous, 01/20/13 (inquire/book) "The four of us had a great stay at the Theater. It was well equipped and very clean and spacious. We had a problem with our coffee pot but it was immediately taken care of by the staff. The hi def tv was a plus and easy to use if you just followed the detailed instructions that were left." - Jim, Allen Park,Mich., 11/15/12 (inquire/book) "It was such a great time in VT. The Theater in the Woods was a wonderful place and I would definitely stay there again. It was so clean and beautiful and the staff was very helpful. I liked that there was a book all about activities to do in VT and the owner wrote her favorites which I thought was so nice." - Stu, Massachusetts, 10/14/2012 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful time in Stowe & found the Theatre in the Woods to be perfect for us in every way. We had beautiful weather every day, enjoyed the bike path each morning (the kids especially loved the corn maze with its baby cows & goats, and the farmers market), hiked the Nose to Chin on Mt Mansfield, hiked & swam at Bingham Falls, rode the Alpine Slide, visited Burlington (the waterfront, Church St & had dinner at the Vt Pub & Brewery), golfed the executive course at Stoweflake (PERFECT for the kids!) & the mini golf course, and of course, a lot of visits to Ben & Jerry's. The kids also loved the pool, as I think all kids do! The location is really perfect. Favorite food spots were Cactus Cafe, the Blue Donkey & Piecasso. All in all, it was perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spot with us!!" - Elizabeth F., montville, nj, 10/12/2012 (inquire/book) I agree - Stowe is amazing for families - that's why I brought my kids up there. Never bored, always something fun happening. Perfect. Thanks for the review. Leslie
"I loved the Theater in the Woods in Stowe Vt. I would definitely stay there again. It was so clean and I loved the kitchen and porch. The staff was very helpful and the condo was well equiped with everything that you possibly need. I also loved the fact that the owner made up a book of all activities in the area and rated her favorite places. It was very enjoyable." - Karen, Massachusetts, 10/11/12 (inquire/book) "We reserved the Theatre in the Woods for a nostalgic trip on our 50th wedding anniversary. The reservation process was very straight forward and easy, when we arrived they had all of the paper work done and ready. It took less that 10 minutes to move in. When we had moved in it was like we had hit the millionaire jackpot I would love to live here for the rest of my life. The condo it fantastic, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, living room and dining area. It even has a washer and dryer. But for me the greatest place is the porch, screened in and private plus it has a glider. The weather has been great, warm most of the time and this unit has the largest air condition-airn unit I have ever seen." - Albert K., Saxonburg , Pa, 09/19/2012 (inquire/book) sigh - I love it when you love it. Leslie
"We choose the Theatre in Woods a a base for a nostalgic trip to Vermont to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The theatre is an awesome place to stay. The furniture is comfortable and the condo well equipped. My favorite place was on the screened porch. The weather was warm but the open windows and porch door kept the condo cool. We did not need to use the heaters or airconditionar. The unit is very quiet and the sound from other unit is minimal. I would reccommend this place to anyone looking for a great vacation. The swimming pool , hot tub and sauna are nice additions." - Albert Kasenter, Saxonburg , Pa, 09/15/12 (inquire/book) "I do not recommend staying in the Theater In The Woods during the hot months of the summer. Daytime highs were in the upper 80’s and low 90’s during our stay in late July. We selected this unit because it advertised itself as having central A/C. While the condo claims to have central A/C it is not what I considered central A/C to be. The A/C unit is a large unit in the wall of the living room. This keeps the main living areas very comfortable but does not cool the bedrooms. There are no A/C vents in the bedrooms so when the doors are closed it gets warm. There are ceiling fans in 2 of the 3 bedrooms which help. The 3rd bedroom has no ceiling fan and only a single crank out window that opens onto the porch.. The 2 beds in that room are on a single elevated L- shaped platform with the twin mattresses touching at the base of the L. Make sure if those 2 twin mattresses are both occupied that the people don’t mind touching one another. The kitchen sink/dishwasher have a funky hot water mechanism that requires you to push a button inside a door 5 minutes ahead of time if you want hot water. The signage about this is not readily noticeable and it took a day before we figured it out. We had trouble with the fire alarm in the master bedroom going off if we opened the bathroom door after taking a shower, even though we had the vent fan on. This happened 2 days in a row so we unplugged the smoke detector to stop it and reconnected it when we left. Not to sound all negative we loved the LARGE screened porch. This condo has the BEST lighting of any condo we have ever stayed in. You can read anywhere in any room. The kitchen is well supplied. The bedrooms do not have closets but do have dressers with drawers. The master bedroom has a small wardrobe where clothes can be hung up. The other good qualities of the condo are mentioned in the other reviews." - David K., 08/15/2012 (inquire/book) Thanks for loving our porch - and the HDTV - and I'm really glad you like the kitchen and the lighting. We worked hard to make sure those were all top notch. In defense of the A/C - this has been a record smasher summer for Vermont - we have never ever ever had weather like this - and I'm glad to hear that the big system kept most of the condo comfortably cool. We provide fans in a large box on the porch to allow guests to pump additional air into the 2 smaller bedrooms - but with the record breaking heat - even that probably wasn't quite enough this summer. Our hot water system is an instant on version - but the tank is on a floor 2 floors down - which is why you have to start the pump to bring water up - that starts the hot water heater. It works great once started - and you have infinite hot water. Down side - there's a delay while the hot water gets to you. But overall - I'm really glad you had a great time and we'd love to have you back!

What made our vacation so wonderful were the accommodations and location! “Theatre in the Woods” had all the modern comforts and amenities of home. In addition to having the greatest bedding, kitchen accessories and washer and dryer, the condo was pristine. This condo is one of the nicest --if not the nicest--condo in the development. In terms of location, the condo is centrally located, and convenient to everything. We had a wonderful stay and plan on renting “Theatre in the Woods” again!" - Family of 5, Ardmore, PA, 04/02/2012 (inquire/book) Thanks so much. I'm really pleased that all went well - particularly over the holidays. Such an important time to have a wonderful vacation. Leslie
"The owner goes to great lengths to make sure your stay is enjoyable and hassle-free. The large screen TV and nicely decorated interior help to make a rainy day more pleasant. This condo was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of creature comforts. Most of all, the screen porch gives you a chance to spread out when you need to. Good location. Pleasant surroundings. We had a nice time." - Anonymous, Philadelphia, Pa., 10/16/11 (inquire/book) "Took our 5 person family (three girls ages 11,9 and 8) for a long ski weekend. We absolutely loved Stowe and the Theatre in the Woods. The condo was so homey and comfy and newly and nicely decorated. We didn't get a chance to sit out on the screened in porch due to the time of the year, but I can only imagine how wonderful it would be in spring, summer or fall. One of the best parts of the trip was how much the owner helped us out with tips, suggestions for skiing, dining and other things to do is Stowe. It really helped out in us enjoying this great vacation spot!" - Gretchen W., Mississippi, 02/24/2011 (inquire/book) "We stayed at the Theatre in the Woods for 1 week in late August. We were 4 adults and 4 kids and we had a great time. The children really enjoyed the screened in porch/deck and so did we; it let the adults sleep in as they played there. The kitchen was fully loaded, which, when feeding 8 people, was extremely appreciated. The pool was used daily, as it rained most of our time there. What a vacation saver that was! We also enjoyed many a movie on the wide screen tv nightly. Nice screened in porch with ceiling fan - gives some extra space. A little small overall - wouldn't want to spend a lot of time indoors if the weather was bad, luckily we had good weather! Would recommend." - Anonymous, Topsfield, MA, 07/14/2010 (inquire/book) Thanks for the nice review. Just a thought on 'wouldn't want to spend a lot of time indoors' - the idea of having the awesome entertainment system (and the games, DVD's, etc.) is to make it fun if you and your family have to be indoors. And the pool is indoors - so weather independent. No condo - no matter how large or small - will completely make up for bad weather - but we've done our very best to make the Theatre a place that's fun to be in - even if the weather turns a bit yucky on you! - The idea is to have a fabulous vacation - And Stowe is just the place for it. (Hey - I'm bias - it's my home away from home!) - Leslie

Leslie was such a great host in offering dining recommendations and responding to every question! My husband loved watching sports on the big tv and my daughter loved having the Mac computer in "her" room. We came for skiing/snowboarding and loved it. Woke to fresh powder on Sunday-what a surprise for spring skiing. The kids enjoyed sledding right out back and we could watch from the porch. Nice to be able to walk to the hot tub and pool after a day on the slopes. Trails are nice and long at Mount Mansfield and enjoyed the restaurant at Spruce Peak-much better than just burgers and dogs! We enjoyed the restaurants we went to-The Shed, Pie in the Sky and Cactus Cafe(good pork enchiladas and ribs!). We would definitely visit again. " - Kate, Wilmington, DE, 03/26/09 (inquire/book) "We had a great week here in Stowe, and the kids loved being at Theatre in the Woods. They even tobogganed right behind the condo in the woods. Chatham is very flat so this was quite the thrill. I loved how close we were to the rec path and the ski slopes are only 8 minutes away! My big find was Papa's Soup on Moscow road (very close to the condo) They have terrific homemade soups with all the fixings for a very reasonable price, and it really hits the spot after a day on the slopes. Their bakery looked good too and the people were so friendly (the grandkids call him Papa, hence the name of the store)Theatre in the Woods is much more reasonable than other accomodations in Stowe and is very well-equipped." - Jackie, Chatham, Ontario, 03/23/09 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful stay at theatre in the Woods. It was supplies with everything we could possibly want and was very cozy and clean. The only problem we had was regulating the heat so that we could make use of the gas fireplace." - Linda Nystrom, 02/14/09 (inquire/book) "It was joy to have stayed here, we would surely come back! The weather was wonderful. We rode the gondola up to Mt. Mansfield where we had lunch, and we hiked to the moss waterfall, and they were both just beautifully amazing. We found this place more relaxing than most places. We went to The Von Trapp Family Lodge, and ate there. Also we went to Ben and Jerry's factory, and learned how they make the ice cream. Last but not least we went to the University of Vermont, and the bear factory." - Warnes family, Conover, NC, 09/29/08 (inquire/book) "We had a truly awesome week at Theatre in the Woods! We definitely would come back in a heartbeat. Stowe is a nice, quite town. It's laid-back atmosphere is very relaxing. Our family enjoyed walking the rec path (at least I made it from town out to the resort). We took part in mini golf, golf at the Country Club as well as shopping (of course). We also took the gondola ride and ate lunch at the Cliff House (awesome view!) and rode the alpine slide, along with the bungee jump. We took a trip to the teddy bear factory and also to Canada to the Granby Zoo (a must see!). Everyone enjoyed the tv, dvds and especially the porch. The family enjoyed the volleyball & open space for hitting some baseball around. Gracie's, the Sunset Grille & the Depot St. Malt Shop were our favorite food stops, however we didn't find one eatery we didn't like. The Von Trapp Tea Room for lunch was a fav too. The internet was a treat since my daughter & I needed to check in work email frequently (unfortunately). We look forward to coming back again soon, or even trying St. Croix?! All the best to the next vacationers staying at Theatre in the Woods!" - Jonathan DeLong, N. Catasauqua, PA, 08/24/08 (inquire/book) "We stayed at Theatre in the Woods with friends last winter and it was perfect! A great place for a ski family!" - Lisa, Oakville, Ontario, 05/16/08 (inquire/book) "The "Theater in the Woods" had everything that we needed for a comfortable family vacation. We especially enjoyed the feeling of being in a "treehouse" with the woods so close. The building was very quiet and the pool and tennis courts uncrowded. The compact three bedroom floor plan made good sense for our family of five. Leslie, the owner, was very attentive from start to finish. We made frequent use of the wireless internet with our own lap top. Overall, we had a wonderful experience in Stowe and the "Theater in the Woods"." - Anne and family, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, 08/26/07 (inquire/book) "I had the great opportunity to stay at the theatre in the woods during the biggest snow fall of the last many years. It was simply magical and experience that I will not forget. The place is wonderful and better equipped than any place that I have stayed. This positive experience is mainly due to the stay at this condo which was nice decorated, had a cozy fireplace and state of the art electronics! When we were "at home", we lived on the great deck. We were able to visit Shelburne Museum, Shelburne Farm, Ben & Jerry's, Rock of Ages, a boat ride on the Lake, Morgan Horse Farm, Trapp Family Lodge and Fairbanks Museum from the Theatre in the Woods. Had a fantastic (and amusing) dinner at the Alpen Haus nearby. All the restaurants were great." - Emily and Fred, 09/20/06 (inquire/book) "well .. this was my second trip to theatre in the woods.. and i enjoyed it jus as much .. if not more than the first.. evrybody is friendly.. and the environment is great..very comfortable and very relaxing.. theres alot of activities to take part in.. and a great place to let loose and exercise.. i had a great time. and look forward to my next trip.. thanx for everything" - Manny-n- the family.!, brooklyn,NY, 08/31/06 (inquire/book) "Clean and simple. Big window looking into the upper reaches of trees above a small couch: a great place in which to read. Marvelous screened-in porch with a dining table and chairs. Great location, near river, bike trail, many shops, the mountains and notch. Leslie even located a piano for me to practice on during the week (local chuch was quite accomodating). Her review books, reporting on restaurants and such, seemed quite accurate and had our agreement, thus inspiring me to write this with gratitude. This rental is a great value and one gets the satisfaction of renting from one who seems to care a lot that you enjoy your time." - Peter Hewitt, Sacramento, CA, 08/30/06 (inquire/book) "Thanks you for sharing your home. It was incredibly comfortable - we loved the kitchen, movies, puzzles, and the porch! We'd love to come back! I have missed those years because I’ve had 9 reconstructive surgeries on my feet during this time and have been unable to climb the almost 40 stairs to my usual unit. This past year I was able to go because I stayed in the Theatre in the Woods (6 steps I think). I love Stowe so much if you look up the town it speaks for it’s self, the only and best way I can describe Theatre in the Woods is to say that being 24-years-old and being unable to walk for the past 5 and a half years, has made me feel as though I have lost those 5 and a half years. When I left the Theatre I actually cried because I knew I had gotten one week back." - Erik Yorgensen, Storrs CT USA, 08/06/06 (inquire/book) "We traditionally spend our summer vacation at a house on the ocean and decided to try something different this year. We're glad we did. We have a family of 3 boys between the ages of 4 and 14 and everyone had a wonderful time. There was so much to do in Stowe - biking, mini-golfing, hiking, balloon festival, eating, Smuggler's notch, etc. The big screen TV, tennis courts, and screened in porch were major bonuses to enjoy after the day's activities. Highly recommended!" - Casler Family, Newton, MA, 07/18/06 (inquire/book) "I always dream of my summer week in Stowe, and this was the best ever! Biking (even in the rain), swimming (even in the river!) and hiking with my son and a friend gave us memories we will have forever. The condo was great - and with two 12-year olds the Theatre was a great hit! Thank you for opening this "home" up to us... we will always treasure this brief week in time... She obviously cares a great deal about the comfort of her guests. The beds, bedding, lighting, color-scheme, kitchen, utensils, etc. And I forgot about the Theatre System!!!! It is nicely furnished, with a fantastic surround-sound system and a gorgeous new kitchen that we really enjoyed cooking in! The pool area and hot tub are fantastic and great if you have kids (or are just a bunch of older kids like us!). The bedrooms are nicely decorated and the bathrooms are clean. The outdoor patio was so cute and would be fantastic in the summer. We really loved this condo, and hope to come back next winter! Thank you!" - Rebecca, New York, 01/17/06 (inquire/book) "We skied in the mornings an toured the township in the afternoons. Watched DVD's and did puzzles too. Leslie gave us lots of travel tips - and ideas for what to do after we left Stowe. Our favorite moments were just taking in the beauty of the area covered in snow. The house is very comfortable, and the kitchen well equiped. Thanks you for sharing your home with us. Hannah, John, Lauren, and Alier" - Kane Family, Sydney, Australia, 12/22/05 (inquire/book) "I give Theatre in The Woods 5 stars! It is extremely comfortable and conveniently located on Cottage Club Road. It's a 1 minute walk to the hot tub and indoor pool, which is a nice way to unwind after a day of skiing/riding. The location is minutes from major highways so it is easy to travel to places like Burlington if you're interested in the night life. I have stayed at other condos in this area, and I would say that hands down Theatre in The Woods was situated 10 times better. There is also a great outdoor deck for having some tea/coffee in the morning and just enjoying the fresh breath of Vermont. I think the drive/shuttle to Stowe mountain took about 10 minutes, and I must add that Stowe had the best conditions on the entire east coast for Thanksgiving weekend. My only regret is that I could not stay there longer. My trip was to short to boast all of what the Theatre had to offer, I'm sure I missed a lot. The owner was also very good about communicating with me on either things to do or the actual accommodations. I had such a positive experience dealing with her and if you are in question about where to say--I GIVE THEATRE IN THE WOODS THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION!!!" - Nigel , Somerset, NJ, 11/30/05 (inquire/book) "We came to Stowe for a few days away and enjoyed our stay at the Theatre in the Woods. The condo is conveniently located, was very clean and held all the amenities that we were looking for. We have two small children and the condo was perfect for them. The Theatre in the Woods was a perfect little get away for us - very quiet, well prepared for guests, in the heart of Stowe, not far from Burlington. We will be coming back for longer next year! Favorite moments include bike ride on the trail and having breakfast out on the screened patio - oh so cozy! Restaurants to recommend: The Whip (excellent food and ohhh was that bread good), Ben and Jerry's Tour, and the Shed (nice atmosphere, good food, great prices!) Mark, Dala, Sara, Reuben, Joel and Allen" - Blumstein Family, Miami, Florida, 10/01/05 (inquire/book) "Pleasant - very pleasant!
