"I can’t say enough about our stay. Anne and Paul were fantastic hosts. The house was clean, comfortable, and well stocked with everything that we needed and them some. We arrived the night of the recent nor’easter that left the area without power for several days, but we were as snug as bugs in a rug thanks to the onsite generator that kicked in for us automatically. There was also lots of seasoned wood on site for the wood stove , and we enjoyed the crisp fall evenings around the fire pit looking out over the incredible lake. Tons of space to enjoy together both inside and out, and lots of games, books and such to occupy your idle time. We never even turned on the TV. WiFi signal was great l, and there was a nice washer and dryer on site for our use. Paul and Anne checked in on us a couple of times during our stay, and they were very responsive to our messages prior to our arrival as well as during our stay. The place exceeded our expectations, and we left with some incredible family memories. THANK YOU Paul and Anne! We will return!!" - Anonymous, 11/02/2019 (inquire/book) "Property manager was easy to contact and very responsive to questions. Bathroom and kitchen surfaces were clean but the rest of the house needed dusting of furniture and vacuuming under furniture - looked like it hadn't been done in a very long time. Bikes in the garage all had flat tires (our grand daughter was disappointed) - maybe because we were there at the end of the summer season? The lake was beautiful and there were several boats, kayaks, etc to be used. Quiet neighborhood. Well stocked kitchen supplies." - Susan A., 09/12/2019 (inquire/book) Susan- We're glad that you and the family had a good time on Forest Lake! In the summer we're booked back to back with just 3-4 hrs between guests. We have our cleaning staff concentrate on the important things, bathrooms, kitchen, waterfront etc. We don't ask them to move furniture and vacuum underneath, since they have enough other vacuuming and other things to do. . We do that in June, when there's a break in Sept ( which was the 3 days right after you) to lift beds, move couches, rollup rugs and vacuum everything. We're sorry that you didn't notice the plug in air compressor as soon as you enter the garage. You could have filled any tires in about 10 seconds, oh well.
"We loved being on the lake, having access to kayaks, canoe, and hot tub. Lovely location. Nice roomy house with plenty of beds. For the price, mattresses could have been better, and minor items repaired." - Mina B., 08/25/2019 (inquire/book) "Loved our week at the lake house again" - Patrick L., 08/12/2019 (inquire/book) "The property is on a small lake. We like the location and activities the lake can offer. It is quiet and you feel all by yourself just sitting on the dock and staring at the stars. Across the lake, there is a nice public beach that kids can play on- life guard and free swim diapers. We However, there isn’t much to do except the lake so you may get a bit bored. The list including a air hocky table but it is broken. All fish poles are broken too - if these can be fixed that would be great. The house could use some update. It is on the pricy side given the location but I was there during 4th week so the price might be higher." - Qianyi z., 07/18/2019 (inquire/book) "Paul was a very responsive owner and he would also immediately reply to any text message I sent. He was respectful of our space and would also alert us if he was going to stop by. The lake location was beautiful. The lake stayed quiet during the week and the kids spent all day in the water. We had access to rafts, kayaks and a paddle boat which worked great. There was easy access to the water which had a sandy bottom. Fishing off the dock was great fun. The hot tub on the top deck was nice and could comfortably accommodate 4 adults. There was a nice Market Basket about 10-15 minutes away and Vermont was just 20 minutes away. Would highly recommend a trip to Brattleboro. Super cute downtown with a great brewery. Several reviews mentioned the house was dusty. It definitely didn't feel clean overall and I think it is because there were a lot of knick knacks and furniture that could be difficult to keep clean. The bathroom was very tidy, however, so that was a plus. Blinds were very dusty and quilts on beds felt dirty. Would recommend bringing your own blankets. There is a steep staircase down to the water, so be aware if you have anyone with a physical limitation in your party. The house was very dark, but it is nestled in the pine trees, keeping it cool even when the weather was hot. What the house lacked, the lake made up for. I can't say enough about how beautiful the lake is." - Liannea M., 07/10/2019 (inquire/book) "Had a wonderful week canoeing, hiking, fishing, swimming, and relaxing at this lovely lake house. Host gave plenty of privacy and was friendly and helpful when help was requested. Highly recommend!" - Juliet S., 06/22/2019 (inquire/book) "Whether it is this property or Paul's other home in Fitzwilliam, we always know we are coming to a clean, refreshing, well equipped home with a gorgeous lake and view. That's why we keep coming back." - Anonymous, 06/10/2019 (inquire/book) "Owner paul was very helpful and answered question promptly. The 2 things that I didn't give a 5 star rating was the home was very dusty and I did not see any pictures showing that there were so many stairs to get down to the dock. Otherwise all was great!!" - Itria B., 06/02/2019 (inquire/book) "Host was wonderful and provided more than the minimum required. Very peaceful and quiet place to stay and very clean. Would recommend this property to anyone and will definitely be staying there again." - Brett S., 05/25/2019 (inquire/book) "Returning guests Enjoyed the quiet beauty of natures" - Karen B., Bushnell, Fl, 05/18/2019 (inquire/book) "Great house with beautiful views" - Anonymous, 04/17/2019 (inquire/book) "Unfortunately we were unable to make the trip, Paul was very understanding. We look forward to rebooking soon!" - Anonymous, 04/17/2019 (inquire/book) "We stayed during the off season with no one around, only the geese and ducks! Beautiful view of the lake, spacious, comfortable home. Owners were friendly and available if needed. Short drive to Keene for dining or shopping." - Kim and Tom S., Rutherfordton, NC, 04/15/2019 (inquire/book) "A beautiful home, filled with everything you could need to have a fun and relaxing vacation. We can't wait to stay during the summer." - Aimee W., 03/14/2019 (inquire/book) "Stayed during the winter and the cabin was great. Had everything we needed and Paul was a very helpful host. Would love to stay again sometime." - Colin S., 03/11/2019 (inquire/book) "Great property. Lake was nice and makes cool echo noises" - Anonymous, 01/18/2019 (inquire/book) "House has all the amenities! The hot tub was fantastic! Being right on the lake is great! Thanks so much for having us!" - Diana R., 12/13/2018 (inquire/book) "Great family getaway! Well equipped and very comfortable." - susan l., 11/28/2018 (inquire/book) "This property has everything you need for either a relaxing couples retreat or for hosting a whole group of people. The location has a great view of the lake, with a private outdoor hot tub (great for two) right off the back deck through slider doors. The whole property is very private, however, internet and cell phone reception (verizon) was great, so you are only a phone call from anything you need. We love that the house had so many modern conveniences, but still has the mood of a northern New England woodland retreat. There are many built-ins, beautiful warm wood floors, and lots of options for the warmth and ambiance of fire. The pellet stove in the dining room is toasty after taking a dip in the hot tub, which is it's own experience with crisp cool air and the fall foliage. There is also a wood stove, a gas fireplace, a fire pit, and one of those heat lamp things near the fire pit. Combustibles are stocked conveniently and ready for your use. There is a charcoal grill and a large Kirkland gas grill. The sunroom with the lake view (great for sitting and sipping wine, watching wildlife, while listening to the rain) is another bonus. If the weather is agreeable, there is a hammock and swing, and plenty of seating for all. The owners are very personable and friendly, and provided tons of info before the visit. They stayed out of the way, but we appreciate that they checked in on the first day to make sure things were going well. Everything in their home is labeled so you can find and use things without frustration. Kitchen is stocked, but I think the previous guests finished any local maple syrup. :) You'd probably want to get some while you're out here anyway. The furnishings are eclectic and fun - just check out the huge collection of books (and dvds for the kids). The couches and beds were comfortable and and there are about 100 different quilts and blankets available, so you can get really cozy. There is a super walmart not too far, so if you do need anything, you can find it there, but also many smaller, local shops. The owners left a binder with a ton of things to do and see in the area. There are also personal notes about some of these areas, which are helpful. We wish we planned for a longer stay. This property could be enjoyed year round. 10 out of 10; 5 star; highly recommended; we would definitely come back for a repeat visit." - Michael M., Southington, 11/16/2018 (inquire/book) "Even with all the rain and gloom, I always enjoy coming to Paul and Annes home. Clean, restful and peaceful time. That's why I keep coming back. Thanks again Paul and Anne." - Anonymous, 11/03/2018 (inquire/book) "This is our 4th year in a row renting from Paul. We always have a great time at one of his properties. They are always clean, very \" - Jonathan T., 10/17/2018 (inquire/book) "The perfect Lake House experience. Multiple rooms, wrapped around the kitchen. Cozy, relaxing, inside and out. AND a huge beautiful lake outside. Planning to go back." - Anonymous, 10/04/2018 (inquire/book) "This was a perfect midweek getaway to find some quiet time and relaxation. The house itself is well-equipped, comfortable, spacious, welcoming and just the right amount of rustic. All modern amenities we needed were available, plus the house and deck are wired for sound. We made use of the hot tub, the dock and the grill while we were there, and I think I need to come back so I can use the fire pit, swim more, take out the kayaks and have an air hockey tournament. The hosts left fantastic instruction guides that anticipated and answered pretty much every question that popped up, and responded quickly (and with humor) to all communications. My dog enjoyed wandering around the grounds outside the house and exploring each level of deck between the house and the water. It was a great place for a pup, he loved napping on the dock as much as I did! While at the house, we definitely felt like we were away from it all, but any store you'd want and Keene are very accessible if you need them. Can't wait to come back!" - Rachel W., 09/14/2018 (inquire/book) "Great stay and recommend the property. Lots of relaxing spaces in the house, view of lake is fantastic. We had a relaxing get away. The Harris's were great to work with; very responsive, timely, accommodating, and provided lots of detail on the property and surrounding area. Thumbs up!" - Robert R., 09/04/2018 (inquire/book) "This place was great. There were 9 of us. 4 adults, 3 teens a 9 and 6 yr old. It never felt crowded. Everything is labeled and there’s a detailed list of instructions. The inside of the house is really nice. Lots of books and movies. Interesting things everywhere you look. The lake is beautiful and clean. I recommend a kayak ride at sunset. All your shopping needs are close. A 15-20 minute ride depending on where your going. Everyone in our family had a great experience. Thank you." - Kevin M., 08/27/2018 (inquire/book) "We had a amazing week at the lake us. The house had everything we needed. The lake was incredible. Will be back next year." - Patrick L., 08/12/2018 (inquire/book) "This was a really nice home, accommodated our whole family and our dogs. The great room was really great, very large and high ceilings. We had an awesome time in the lake, swimming all day and just sitting on the dock. The kitchen was perfect size for cooking and had everything we needed. The area was great for grocery shopping. We were very happy, thank you Paul & Anne !!!!" - Anna Maria L., wethersfield, ct, 07/22/2018 (inquire/book) "Have stayed many times— had a wonderful time" - Mary Louise E., Wakefield, 06/14/2018 (inquire/book) "We had awesome time at the lake house! Everything was as described. Great place to relax and have fun. The owner is wonderfull-quick responding and easy going! Thank you Paul one more time! We will be back" - Aga and Martin W., East Quogue, NY, 06/01/2018 (inquire/book) "Lovely place, really homey with great amenities. Paul is quick to respond to ANY messages and is very helpful. We'll be back!" - Lucy F., 05/18/2018 (inquire/book) "Very fun property! We rented this house for my daughter's graduation from Keene State College... perfect location for a family gathering to celebrate. So many fun things to do, both inside the house and out on the lake. Amazing views, including sunsets, that can be viewed from the back deck. Sleeps many people comfortably, lots of seating - indoor and outdoor - for guests. Driveway can fit as many cars as you need. Everything you possibly need is in this house and SO MUCH MORE! Owner was very pleasant to work with, attentive, and easy to get ahold of when needed. Overall, AMAZING experience. I would strongly recommend this property." - Anonymous, 05/09/2018 (inquire/book) "The perfect New Hampshire lake experience with a considerate, accommodating landlord dedicated to making the stay perfect. The house is perfect, comfortable, extremely well-equipped, with a stunning view of Forest Lake. Highly recommended." - Joe S., 03/15/2018 (inquire/book) "As advertised, but even better. The owners go out of their way to make sure we're comfortable and enjoying our stay." - Joe S., 01/24/2018 (inquire/book) "We've returned to this property many times, but this was the first time we spent Christmas here. Paul and Anne had decorations, a tree with trimmings, and even Christmas-themed glass plates (we had never noticed them before). It was a cozy place to weather a major snowstorm, be with family, and appreciate nature, yet still be within reach of movie theaters and restaurants. Relaxing, fun and memorable. Thanks, Paul and Anne!" - Donna R., 01/09/2018 (inquire/book) "The host was great! Very responsive and helpful! Home is very cozy." - Ann Y., 12/12/2017 (inquire/book) "First of all, i'd like to say \" - Anonymous, 12/01/2017 (inquire/book) "Great place to stay!" - Kelly M., 11/19/2017 (inquire/book) "I’m not sure how to put in words how amazing this property and the hosts (Paul&Anne) are. The House was breathtaking, pictures don’t do this place justice! My husband and I went up to Forest Lake for our first wedding anniversary. It was hands down the best place we could’ve picked for our special day. We planned out our whole trip, to go horseback riding, visit Mt. Washington, etc. I can’t say we did any of that because we just got lost in all the things to do on the property like paddle boats on the lake, sitting on the docks enjoying the calm sway, sitting by the bonfire and playing board games, reading a book while swaying on the hammock, ping pong tournaments, you name it and this House has it! We will definitely come back to Forest Lake and Check out the Harris’ second vacation home. Thank you soooo incredibly much!!!" - Nataliya T., 11/17/2017 (inquire/book) "My boyfriend and i and our cocker spaniel Toby had a great time in this wonderful home...the hot tub was the high light every night and sitting by the fire place!!! Very nicely decorated and has everything you need." - Geraldine B., 11/11/2017 (inquire/book) "Paul was very accommodating! He called to make sure everything was going smooth! The house is in a private lake community which made this feel like a secluded vacation! The home was well equipped and cozy. We enjoyed a short weekend getaway to spend time with family and friends. We hiked Mount Monadnock (est 35 mins away) and had a night out in Downtown Keene (est 15 mins away). There were 6 of us and 3 dogs and the house could've accommodated a few others. It didn't feel crowded at all. Large kitchen, dining room table and three sitting areas. Our fave was the living room area with a large vaulted ceiling!" - Anonymous, 10/23/2017 (inquire/book) "Do I start with the amazing Paul and Anne Harris? Perhaps the wonderful, well-equipped house? How about the crystal clear lake? Or the firepit overlooking the lake? The hammock? We stayed at Paul and Anne's lovely home from 9/30/2017 to 10/7/2017. We are an extended family consisting of members who traveled from Boston, Seattle and Southern NJ. We were joined by Beau, the well-behaved pooch. From the moment of my initial contact with Paul, I knew that we had a winner. The house is cozy, but large enough for privacy if you want it. The kitchen is extremely well equipped for those of us who would rather cook our meals. A huge dining room table accommodated all of us. The pellet stove in the dining room provided just enough warmth. The woodstove in the living room provided ample warmth. We also loved the fireplace in the great room. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the rooms clean. The entire house is furnished comfortably. It felt like home. I don't know about you, but our home does not have a three-level deck, a lake, kayaks, a pedal boat and a canoe. Paul and Anne also provide an ample supply of life vests. We barbecued burgers and hot dogs on the gas grill, then made ourselves comfy by the firepit to make s'mores for dessert. What a great time we had. Thank you, Paul and Anne, for your hospitality, for sharing your lovely home, for being attentive to our needs, but not cloying." - Carol M., Burlington, New Jersey, 10/10/2017 (inquire/book) "Beautiful Property....Thanks again!" - chadwick h., 09/30/2017 (inquire/book) "This place is exactly what a lake camp should be. It's got all the comforts of home along with the character of a lake camp. We were only there for a couple of days, so we didn't have time to take full advantage of everything the camp had to offer, but the house is roomy and comfortable. The lake is crystal clear and was still warm enough to swim in September. While the fishing wasn't great, I did catch bass and perch off the dock and there is plenty of good fishing in the rivers close to the camp. Plenty of good restaurants and shops in Keene and another restaurant, The Rustic Table is only a mile from the camp. The camp is nestled in a grove of large pine trees making it feel somewhat secluded, the only issue we had was that those same pine trees drop a lot of pine sap on everything outdoors, which can lead to a bit of a sticky situation if you aren't careful. Overall, we were very happy with this rental" - Jonathan H., 09/21/2017 (inquire/book) "Our family had a wonderful week here, soo comfortable, pretty lake and so peaceful! Use of the kayaks, bikes of many sizes, the fire pit, and lots of games made for a great stay for the adults and kids. We hope to go back next summer!" - Wanda H., 09/19/2017 (inquire/book) "Our third time back to this house so we clearly like it. The perfect spot to get away and enjoy the lake and surrounding nature. We had ideal weather conditions - warm enough to swim and kayak but not too hot. The house was a comfortable place to hang out, read, play games and sleep. We ate in some times and visited good local restaurants others. Neighbors and people on the lake are friendly." - Anonymous, Concord, MA, 09/08/2017 (inquire/book) "Had a great time as usual. Especially enjoyed the canoe and kayaks. Wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage is so well equipped. We could have stayed two weeks and still not taken advantage of everything the cottage has to offer." - Beverly P., 07/25/2017 (inquire/book) "A very relaxing place ,love this house" - Kevin M., 07/01/2017 (inquire/book) "House includes everything needed for a terrific lake getaway." - Mary B., 06/30/2017 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful week at the lake house. The weather was gorgeous and amazingly the water was warm for June! Paul was quick to respond to our questions and our two goldens were in heaven. There are a lot of stairs to get down to the lake so keep that in mind. The house was clean and well stocked so there isn't much you have to bring. There is plenty of sleeping areas so it is good for larger families. I have been to both of Paul and Ann's properties, and I can't decide which one I like more! I would recommend this house to young active people who enjoy life on the water" - jessie b., 06/27/2017 (inquire/book) "Beautiful home and we couldn't ask for anything more. Again the owners are the best. Can't wait to go back!!!" - Louis D., 05/11/2017 (inquire/book) "My family and I recently spent the New Years weekend at this house and we're nothing but impressed. The location was beautiful, right on the lake with private access. The house was very cute and exactly what the pictures portray. The owners were very helpful, they even called when we arrived. In the middle of the trip, we had an issue with one of the pellet stoves and the owners were nothing but helpful and polite. Along with that, the house was well equipped with all the cooking utensils needed. Would definitely recommend it to anyone!" - Robin R., 01/04/2017 (inquire/book) "Excellent place with a lot of things to see and do. Certainly recommend it." - David H., 12/07/2016 (inquire/book) "Stayed at Forest Lake home for our honeymoon. Found everything we could possibly need, the owner left us a kind personalized note and called to check in to make sure everything was OK. Drinking coffee on the dock every morning was wonderful. Perfect, quiet lake getaway." - Kate M., 10/24/2016 (inquire/book) "There is a group of us who go away every year to spend a long weekend away from our wives, away from our children, just a time to relax and to drag out or dirt bikes and ATV's to go riding as a group. This year we rented Paul's house on Forest Lake, and it was amazing. It was clean and well maintained, he had plenty of parking for snowmobile or bike trailers. He made sure we had access to the garage with lights that we could do repairs at night, there was a readily accessible hose so we were able to load clean machines back up into our trailers before returning home. The wood stove and the pellet stove were awesome to make the place comfortable as it was getting cold outside, and Paul set them up for us so they lit very easily, there was ample wood so we didn't have to go buy or cut any ourselves, and the pellet stove was fully loaded and ready when we rolled in. The Hot Tub helped a lot to help us unwind and relax away aches and pains after a day of hard trail riding. The grill outside was great, unlike most of the places we have rented in years past it came with a couple full tanks of propane, and was 100% ready to go when we got there. The outside awning made it possible for us to hang out outside even in light rain without getting soaked. There were plenty of plates and silverware settings so we didn't have to wash the same set of 4 plates, forks, spoons, and knives over and over again. It was pretty secluded although not far from other houses so while we couldn't make a lot of noise, we did not feel like we were packed in next to the neighbors. Their internet was great, a real solid broadband connection with wifi, this made up for the lack of Tmobile or Sprint service at the house, Verizon and AT&T service seems to have been OK there however. Wifi was accessible in all rooms except the front bedroom. The beds were good, nobody had any complaints, and the one in the front bedroom was awesome, better than any I've slept on in 5 years of these trips. There is only one shower, which was the only negative aspect of the property, but with 4 guys it wasn't a big deal, we never ran out of hot water (and the hot water was nice and hot, unlike so many other places!) and it wasn't one of those awful shower heads where you feel like you aren't getting enough water so this was not even enough of a negative to drop below 5 stars. All in all a great place to stay, we will definitely be coming back." - Chris G., 10/24/2016 (inquire/book) "My family had a fantastic time over a long weekend. We made use of the canoe and kyack. The view from the multi level deck was perfect. We cannot thank owners enough!😊" - Jen S., 10/10/2016 (inquire/book) "We were very impressed with this house. Usually pictures are better than reality but this place far exceeded our expectations. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the owners thought of everything. Us girls couldn't think of a thing we needed that they didn't have. The owners put a lot of thought into providing the perfect stay for us. They are very nice people who are a pleasure to deal with. I can't say enough good things about this place and we will definitely be back." - Tammy T., 10/04/2016 (inquire/book) "The house was very quaint, and set on a beautiful lake. It looks like it was a duplex converted to a single home, so it's got some oddities to the layout, but we really enjoyed it. It has 2 living rooms, one off the bedrooms, one off the kitchen on the other side. This was great for the adults, as we could stay up and be loud while the kids were asleep. It has 3 smallish bedrooms, 2 which can fit a pack and play easily. One bedroom that is a converted porch/sunroom has 2 beds, but we didn't use because there were no curtains to block the morning sun. Not great for babies or parents wanting to sleep in, but a great play area. The hot tub was also a nice touch to the evening, but only technically a 2 person hot tub (we squeezed 4 in, but it was tight). The lake was clear and beautiful. There's not immediate beach area, but we played with the kids in the shallow area. The boats were fun as well, with plenty of adult and a few kids life vests. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay." - Desiree D., 09/23/2016 (inquire/book) "We went from Friday to Sunday . Time flew way too quickly. The weather was perfect and the house has everything you need and more we found new things everyday! So charming loved the pictures and signs! Would definitely go back and hopefully for a longer stay" - Brenda P., West haven , 09/19/2016 (inquire/book) "My husband and I have been coming to Paul & Anne's home for a few years now. The first time was to get everyone together to celebrate my parents 75th birthdays. It is convenient for all of us, has enough sleeping quarters, accommodates 11 people at dinner and for a loud game of pitch and has swimming, fishing and enough variety of activities to occupy us all. We choose September (yes, it is the birthday month), but it is also incredibly calm and quiet. We have a crowd from Friday-Sunday and then such tranquility after. We love to take the boats out, read on the dock and just relax. Our last night, we had delicious steamed lobsters from Market Basket in Swanzey with a nice bottle of wine. This morning, we hated to leave. It is always a wonderful vacation!" - P & C, Peterborough, NH, 09/15/2016 (inquire/book) "Just returned from a very relaxing vacation at this property. The lake is beautiful and very peaceful, especially on weekdays. We spent most of the day hanging out on the dock, swimming and kayaking. On clear nights, the night sky was spectacular from the dock. The house is well-equipped, and we took advantage of the air hockey and ping pong tables, as well as the basketball hoop. Already thinking about returning next year...." - Kris M., 08/28/2016 (inquire/book) "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Paul and Anne's place, anyone would. Plenty of space, the house is very well maintained, comfortable, and includes all the comforts of home, and more. We spent most of the week on the lake, in the hot tub, or on the front porch chillin', but did venture out to Keene and Brattleboro, as well as downtown Winchester for a little in town exploring. It was wonderful to have such a private home base for the week, minutes from these towns. One thing to be aware of, there is a long staircase down to the water, so the young and elderly might need a bit of help going up and down. BUT, there are two decks along the staircase that provide a place to rest along the way. When walking back up with my 78 year old mother in law, we stopped at one of them and drank a lemonade while she watched her grandchildren swim in the lake; a very sweet moment. Plus, all those foot falls on the way back up knock the sand loose before going back into the house. In the end, those stairs are actually a pretty cool feature of the property. While we mostly hung at the house, here are a few local spots we recommend checking out: - New England Sweetwater Farm Distillery: Go, take the tour, taste some samples, buy some product and support this new business. Say hi to Robert for me. -Mt Pisgah Diner: Old school, classic dinner. Nothing fancy, eggs over easy, hash, home-fries and toast washed down with mediocre coffee. EXACTLY what I want out of a greasy spoon. -Kulick Market: Close, convenient, and adequately stocked for a weeks worth of groceries. Plus, the State Liquor store is next door :) -Gomoralo's Food & Circus: We bought some outstanding rib-eye steaks here for the grill Why are you still reading this review? Shouldn't you be booking your stay?" - Rob M., 08/24/2016 (inquire/book) "We came to this property with 4 couples (each with at least 1 dog) and 1 child (who also has a dog) so 9 humans and 5 dogs. The house was big enough for all of us to be comfortable at all times. The dining room hosted all of us at dinner time, there were enough kayaks and canoes for us to all share and adventure together. We had great weather and loved being right on the water. Being on the side of the lake that we were, the sun didn't hit the dock until about noon or 1pm while we were there, but after that, it was so nice to be out there all day. The owners were incredibly responsive and helpful! There is a leash law in the town so if your dogs are prone to wandering, I'd recommend keeping them on-leash if you're out in the front yard (and the neighbor across the street will remind you to leash anytime he sees your dog in the yard off leash) as we did end up with a few wandering dogs in the yard with no owners in sight. Great property! Looking forward to booking again!" - Bailey T., 08/09/2016 (inquire/book) "We were surprised when we arrived at the house! The pictures do not give full credit to the house, the area and the lake. We felt at home within a few minutes of surveying the inside. There was nothing we needed - it is fully equipped, kitchen and all. The landscape is gorgeous and so quiet. The outside decks allowed us to enjoy different spaces and views. The kids could play a game on one deck, adults could read on another and I could work on another. The lake is crystal clear. It was so nice having coffee at 7:00 in the morning watching the tiny fish eat breakfast. The weather was perfect - sorry, can't thank the owners for that - but if it wasn't, a trip to VT or Keene NH could provide plenty of things to do.. We also picked 10 pounds of blueberries at a local farm - delicious! It was a wonderful and memorable vacation. Would recommend this to everyone." - terry d., 08/04/2016 (inquire/book) "This was my 2nd time at Paul and Anne's lake house. Last year I only stayed for 3 nights, which was simply not long enough. I week isn't really long enough, but that's all the time I could take off of work. The first few days were chilly and rainy, but we entertained ourselves with the movie and game collections. We did venture over to the relatively new Sweetwater Farm Distillery, which is located 2.5 miles away in the heart of Winchester. Highly, highly recommend. The owner, Rob, is an interesting and passionate guy. The spirits are delicious. Check the hours before you go, though, because they are not always open. After the first few days of not so lovely weather, I spent the rest of the week camped out on the dock from about noon until the sun went down after 8. Leaving was incredibly difficult. I booked next year's visit before I even left. Yes, it's that great. The property and house have literally everything you could need. We would joke because every time we needed something (scissors, tin foil, etc.) we would open a drawer or cabinet or two and find exactly that. Forest lake is clean, beautiful and quiet. Paul and Anne are incredible hosts and have thought of everything. If you do need them, they are easy to reach and respond quickly. I can't wait to go back!" - Ashley S., Boston, 07/08/2016 (inquire/book) "Absolutely everything is in place here for multi-season enjoyment of the home and its beautiful natural setting. There were 4 of us, but I can see how a couple of families could easily be comfortably accommodated. The sunny porch is a great perch from which to see the lake below, but there are 2 other living rooms besides the porch. One can tell that the owners are seasoned VRBO participants by the preparation and planning they have afforded the guests. A fabulous vacation place!" - Kate S., 06/28/2016 (inquire/book) "My review is so late, but I was just looking at this property again for this year and realized I never reviewed it!! This home was literally everything I could have wanted and more. We had a few set backs, propane fireplace was not working (honestly, did not care! Mostly wanted to contact the owner to let them know that we hadn't done it! Haha), hot tub was pretty algead and scummy, and the most unfortunate issue was some sort of bugs that caused severe bites and scarring (I believe it may have been fleas 😕.) All of these things, I assume, were from the previous tenants. The property owners were BEYOND helpful and offered to head over and fix anything! We used the wood burning stove instead of the fireplace and were absolutely fine with it, I just happen to work in a canine pool and do the pool chemistry myself so was able to balance the hot tub back out with the provided chemicals, and we slept in the other bedroom and avoided any other bites (we had our own dog with us but he slept in his crate in the great room to avoid getting fur and dander all over the owners' bedding! So luckily we avoided bringing ANYTHING home with us!) Even with all the stuff, that could ONLY happen to us (no, really. We hadn't taken a vacation in TEN years, so there was just no way it would have gone smoothly for us haha.) But the property owners just made everything so easy and picked up each call starting with \" - Tim K., 02/11/2016 (inquire/book) "Cozy, roomy and great for a family or two. They even had the wood stove lit. I would absolutely stay again." - Jessica N., Chesterfield, NH, 12/04/2015 (inquire/book) "place was amazing: big house, with everything you need for a great stay with family and/or friends: home entertainment, hot tube, water sports, etc. The lake is absolutely amazing as well, with a sunset to die for. the owner was extremely nice and communicative, we had 0 trouble and a great time, next time for longer" - Isabel F., 11/25/2015 (inquire/book) "We found this home to be welcoming and immaculate. We had a very late arrival , and were pleasantly surprised to find our bed already made up for us. We enjoyed the lake and several of the covered bridges in the area. The kitchen is fully supplied, even with delicious homemade applesauce. Perfect area for viewing fall foliage and festivals . We hope to rent here again when it is a little warmer, and we can enjoy the lake . The owners are very flexible. My schedule changed last minute and Paul & Anne were very accommodating." - Harry R., Yardley,Pa, 11/03/2015 (inquire/book) "Enjoyed some peace & tranquility on our mini vaca here and we had 2 teenagers with us! They enjoyed the kayaks and fishing and because the weather was hot for mid Sept we enjoyed the water and hanging on the dock. Tons of amenities (nice hot tub) but only one thing missing, a little bit of sandy beach and it would have been perfect. We were elated to be able to bring our older Beagle but he was afraid of the dock so only stayed on one of the upper decks. I think all those stairs made him a bit anxious as well. We definitely got our exercise though. Next time we come, the dog stays at home., sorry Wolfgang! :-)" - Cheryl c., 09/24/2015 (inquire/book) "We wanted somewhere in New England, on a Lake, as part of a months trip to the US from the UK. This was perfect. The house is lovely with lots of quirky decorations, very spacious and equipped with everything we needed plus more. We managed to entertain 3 children (inc 2 teenagers) with the kayaks and bikes (we were pleased to see the Raleigh - a good old Nottingham company!) plus hot tub and games. There are some lovely place to visit around about and we felt we had a good experience of being in the heart of New England. Would definitely love to come back here." - Ingrid S., 09/13/2015 (inquire/book) "The house itself is awesome, spacious and extremely comfortable with all the amenities! Our Sheltie was in seventh heaven in and out of the lake, in canoes and kayaks! The fishing was fun not only out in the boats but right from the dock! We cooked in most of the time in the state of the art kitchen and great grill. Dinner on the deck each night was spectacular! So was coffee in the morning! We will be visiting this house again perhaps during the winter!" - Burb, Brookline NH USA, 09/02/2015 (inquire/book) "My husband and I and our 15 year old son rented this house for the week. I had looked at many houses but wanted a house right on the water with a boat dock and hot tub and would allow us to bring our dog most homes did not allow pets or did not have all the amenities I was looking for this house had it all and I am big on reviews this house had over 100 reviews and not one bad review. Great home beautiful lake what a great vacation we had!!!" - Lisa D., 08/05/2015 (inquire/book) "We all had a wonderful time. We were so busy canoeing, Kayaking, swimming, fishing and bike riding that we didn't find time to use the hot tub. We will definitely rent this lakefront home again." - Beverly P., 07/21/2015 (inquire/book) "We had such a wonderful experience at this property. It is cozy, beautiful, and thought through to minuscule detail. The owners are a phone call away and are very friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go there again." - Anna, Providence, RI, 06/22/2015 (inquire/book) "We had such a great experience and so much fun at this house!! It had everything we could of needed and more. Especially enjoyed the hot tub an the game room. We didn't have the greatest weather the weekend we went but there was so much to do that it didn't matter an we still had a great time!!!" - Bren, Massachusetts , 04/30/2015 (inquire/book) "We just got back from a weekend getaway with 6 couples. It was such a great weekend, this home was more than we expected! The house was very clean, and smelled amazing when the wood burning stove was going. It was nice enough outside to enjoy both the hot tub and the Bon fire pit as well as walk on the ice as one of our friends dogs got to run around. The house was very spacious with tons of separate areas for everyone to enjoy. There was Never a dull moment and everyone was always enjoying both indoor and outdoor space. If you like the country and a warm cozy cottage like feel, this is the perfect place for you! Paul was an amazing host and was very helpful throughout the whole rental process. We will all definitely be coming back .Thanks again!" Thank you Paul! Again everything was absolutely wonderful." - Annette N., 03/12/2015 (inquire/book) "Paul and Ann's Lake Forest home was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. It's a spacious home and each room is cozier than the next--there was 7 of us and we felt like there was plenty of space. The decor is classic lake home with shelves of books, movies, and nicknacks that are interesting to look at. The house was clean and smelled fresh. The lake views were beautiful, especially after the Thanksgiving snowstorm came through and knocked out power through the weekend. Paul had his electrician out right away to get his generator started so we were powered back up except for the oven, which made for a fun challenge to get Thanksgiving dinner on the table. We cooked our turkey on the grill -- it was one of the best we'd ever tasted -- the dressing in the crockpot -- and everything else on the wood burning stove. We all loved it and the whole experience made for a wonderfully memorable Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the ping pong table in the basement and long walks around the neighborhood. It's in a very beautiful area. Keene and Brattleboro are close by and interesting towns to explore. I think everyone in our group left something at the house and Paul and Ann were extra sweet to get things back to us (thank you!) We hope to be back again some day and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a vacation lake cabin." - Avice P., 12/11/2014 (inquire/book) "My family and I had an amazing time at the lake house. Paul and Anne were amazing. They gave us door to door directions, and recommendations for places to go grocery shopping. Paul also called the day we checked in to see if we had any questions or needed anything. This house literally has everything you need and more. We went in October and we only expecting to look at the lake, not venture out. But with the paddle boat and canoe right on their private dock, we had to get out there. The views from the lake were amazing, we spent a lot of time out there. The house is cozy but with plenty of room. We also loved the swing at the front of the house and enjoyed our nights at their fire pit roasting marshmallows. My nephews were especially excited because the speedway down the road had some races, they were able to get up really close, it was an unexpected surprise. What an amazing weekend!" - Celena M., 11/09/2014 (inquire/book) "Just recently on the Columbus Day weekend my wife and two other couples rented the Forest Lake property. As with all of the other reviews, this property was everything we expected and read about. The house was certainly more than spacious enough for six adults and everything we needed was included in the house. The views of Forest Lake are splendid and every night we had a fire outside in the fire pit and enjoyed the warmth and solitude with an adult beverage. The city of Keene, New Hampshire is very close and it really is a nice New England style city and very clean with a variety of restaurants. I would certainly recommend visiting the city and enjoying the shops and the pleasant atmosphere. If one should run low on food and house supplies there is a fantastic grocery store on your left just before you arrive into Keene. Since we were at Forest Lake during peak foliage we made a trip to Vermont and visited Stratton Mountain which is not that long of a drive from Forest Lake and the foliage on Route 30 North and Route 100 South was outstanding. Both of these routes take you thru traditional New England country side and well worth the adventure. Also, another great foliage route is to travel route 9 which will take you to Hillsborough. Once in Hillsborough there is a tavern that looks very small but when it comes to serving a big time gourmet meal, it is a winner. This place could easily be a Food & Wine destination. After spending a few hours each day on our leaf peeping journeys we retreated to the lake house and simply relaxed by the dock or the upper deck just taking in the fantastic scenery. Since the house came complete with everything one would need to prepare and serve a gourmet meal, we feasted on specialty prepared dinners and enjoyed the comfort of sitting at the large dinning table and talking about our adventures we experienced for the day. Both my wife and myself have been using Home Away and VRBO for our summer vacations and Fall getaways for the past ten years. We were so surprised when we received a call from the owner of the property on Friday night upon our arrival and he welcomed us to his home and inquired if we needed anything. This has never happened ever before with our previous rentals. So in closing I would highly recommend that if anyone wants to rent a spacious, clean and perfectly located home in a traditional New England setting then certainly consider staying at Forest Lake. You will appreciate your \" - Cheryl T., 10/20/2014 (inquire/book) "My husband and I just returned from a wonderful 5 night stay at this lovely home. What was supposed to be 3 nights, turned into 5 with a cancellation following our intended stay. Weather was rainy earlier in the week so we were thrilled to get a couple of bonus days of beautiful fall weather! We chose this house because it basically had everything we were looking for...on a lake, kayaks, fire pit, hot tub, hiking and biking close by. We rode the Ashuelot rail trail which we picked up in town, about 3 miles from the house. We rode through the Ashuelot covered bridge, along the river, passing abandoned buildings and rail cars that sat eerily reminiscent of the railroad transportation system of days past. This trail is NOT a loop, so after 13+ miles and beginning to feel weary, it was a difficult push to make it back. But then there was the hot tub awaiting our aching muscles. The following rainy day was welcomed by the fact I was really too sore to do much else. We drove to Keene and had dinner at Luca's- excellent food - we highly recommend. All of the books/brochures and maps that Paul and Anne provide, were a great resource. We also found a video store in Keene where were able to rent a season of a program we had started back at home which we watched with the fireplace on to take the chill off of the rainy evening. We were tempted to hike Modanock but with Pisgah so close, we decided to hike there. We started off at the visitor center and began our hike across Doolittle Path onto the trail. What a beautiful trail through a mossy, pine forest with little rivers and ponds. There are signs with historical information about homesteads that existed throughout the area- some over 200+ years. You can still see some the original stone foundations. It was a a perfect fall, sunny day. Trails weren't too rough or steep- mostly on gravel or dirt paths. At the house, my husband fished off the dock and took the canoe out- caught/released some large mouth bass. It's a relatively small lake, but was enough for us to take the kayaks or pedal boat out to explore and also to enjoy the view from the house/dock. I can't say enough about Paul- he is a great host-he and his wife have really thought of everything! There were more things than we could even do- lots for kids, too, but we really enjoyed our time away without the kids :). We slept as good, if not better, than at home-very, comfortable, plenty of pillows and blankets, and cozy down comforter." - Sharon M., 10/09/2014 (inquire/book) "10 of us recently stayed at this home for a long weekend as a surprise 77th birthday party for our parents. Ages ranged from 24 to 77 and there was something for everyone. With our son in his own boat fishing, the birthday couple as passengers in the paddle boat and the rest of the group in kayaks, we were all able to enjoy the lake and the beautiful weather. We were able to cook steak tips and baked potatoes on the gas grill and found a large pot for 2 dozen delicious ears of corn on the cob. Everything is there. Everything! We enjoyed the fire pit, the hot tub, ping pong, air hockey and the bikes. The owners are easy to deal with even allowing our 13 year old dog to come. The home is gorgeous with more than enough amenities. One rainy afternoon, we enjoyed a meal and micro brews at Whetstone Station in Brattleboro (go on a nice day when you can enjoy the rooftop beer garden)! Our only disappointment was arriving with food, beer, wine and birthday cake for 10 people with only one working refrigerator...we wish this was communicated to us as it would have made things easier. Otherwise, such a great weekend that we think we will make it an annual event!" - P & C, Peterborough, NH, 09/13/2014 (inquire/book) "Four adults and our dog snickers stayed for three night getaway. Paul and Anne make sure that you want for nothing. We had a wonderful, peaceful and relaxing vacation. Even our dog loved it especially being a passenger on the paddle boat. It was a wonderful time for all. We look forward to staying again. The weather was great and the lake was so clean and peaceful. Thanks again for everything." - Suzanne O., 08/06/2014 (inquire/book) "We had a great time on Forest Lake. The place was perfect for our needs. We had several guests come at different times during our stay and there's enough space for everybody. The hot tub was used a lot. The owners have thought of everything that you'd need. The lake is clear and the water is great. The fishing was good too, catching bass right off the dock. We would definitely come back." - Pete L., Vermont, 08/05/2014 (inquire/book) "What a great time my family of six had at this great home. The house has everything you could ask for.the owners are wonderful, always trying to make sure we had all that we needed. Highly recommend this vacation home." - mark k., 08/05/2014 (inquire/book) "My husband and I rented this home in Winchester, NH on Forest Lake for 3 nights and had an amazing time. Literally everything you could possibly need is there, and more....we should have packed lighter. House is adorable, wonderfully decorated with many antiques to look at, and you will have the best dock on the lake. There is even a canoe, kayaks, and paddleboat to use. The only downside of our stay was that the master bedroom mattress was very hard, not comfortable, but we were able to sleep in a different room and the other mattresses were fine. We are still giving 5 stars for our overall vacation experience, and hoping the mattress could be remedied as we would love to be staying again, and bringing friends/ family next time. Thank you!" - obsidiamina22, Connecticut, 06/28/2014 (inquire/book) "Lovely retreat in the woods on the lake. The house had everything we could need for a weekend away. It was clean and well stocked. Everything was as good or better than described on the web page. Plenty of space to gather or retire to your own corner if you prefer." - Cheryl, Williamsville, VT, 06/18/2014 (inquire/book) "Excellent getaway. Invited 10 family for son's graduation. Exceeded our expectations. Great for family dinners, discussions, sports, everything one could want was provided. We will return!" - Woody W., 05/21/2014 (inquire/book) "This property is on a great location that allows for a wonderful getaway on beautiful Forest Lake. Not only is the house fully-equipped with everything one could imagine - from a media library of DVDs to a hot tub to an external BBQ with a dock - but also it includes a basement with games (ping-pong table, for example). Our host, Paul, was friendly and was prompt in communication - helping with the simplest of things, for example - how does the WiFi work? The property was clean and well-maintained - the photos online are a good representation of what you can expect. I would highly recommend this property as it is just the right size with all the amenities which allows for a luxurious vacation rental." - Sid, 04/17/2014 (inquire/book) "We all had a great time meeting up with our friends at this home! Paul was fantastic in helping us with directions, he even charted out a long distance run for me as I am training for a Marathon! He went above and beyond! The home was very clean, plenty of space for our friends, easy drive from Boston for our friends. We loved snow shoeing on the lake and playing ping pong in the basement. Great place to travel with friends or family! We hope to be coming back soon! Best, Lauren & Matt" - Matt C., 04/11/2014 (inquire/book) "We visited Paul and Ann's rental house on Forest Lake, this past weekend. We had 4 adults and 3 children in our group. The house was exactly what we expected it to be and the kids loved the game room! It was clean, easily accessible and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could have needed and more! We enjoyed ice fishing, relaxing in the hot tub and took the short trip to VT for dinner. All in all it was a great time and we would like to return sometime in the Summer to swim in the lake." - Janine C., 03/17/2014 (inquire/book) "This house was perfect for our group of six couples plenty of room. It is our seventeenth year of weekend getaways and we will definitely be going back. The home owners went above and beyond to ensure our stay was every bit as perfect as promised. Everything you need can be found in this cozy, comfortable immaculate home. We were able to enjoy some cross country skiing, snow shoeing and watch the ice fishermen bring in a beautiful rainbow trout. Thanks to Paul and Anne we had an amazing weekend because they have thought of everything to make that possible. They even invited us to come up early to avoid traveling in the predicted storm." - Sandra L., 02/26/2014 (inquire/book) "We took our two daughters, son and four of their friends to the cabin to celebrate our youngest's 13th birthday. What a great idea! Paul was a most excellent host who communicated with us well ahead of time and then made sure all was well once we got there. The cabin itself is definitely well stocked--with games, movies, music, and books. Add to that the game room and ice skates AND a hot tub, and even seven teenagers ages 13 to 17 never once complained of boredom. We got hit with substantial snow during our visit, but the driveway was plowed right away and thoroughly, so we were able to get out and about easily when we decided to venture into Keene. One thing worth mentioning is that the cabin feels very private, even though neighbors are in close proximity. And despite being situated right on the lake, a trip into town is easy and relatively quick. We ate out once and went bowling...then the kids were happy to get back to the cabin. I can't recommend enough staying at this comfortable, homey cabin. Whether your group is young, older, or mixed...one or two or ten of you, you just cannot go wrong. And Paul will make it his mission to see that you have everything you need. Don't hesitate--rent now, before someone else beats you to it!" - Rebecca V., Where do you live?, 01/25/2014 (inquire/book) "My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful stay at Paul's beautiful home. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, tons of great outdoor equipment for any season, hot tub (!!!),and a beautiful view of the lake! It was perfect place for a couple to getaway from the city. Cozy, yet large! Communication with Paul was excellent, from the days leading up to our stay through the day we left. He is clearly an expert host who has been doing this for many years. We would definitely love to come back again, as I can only imagine the house and surrounding area is just as beautiful in the summer as it was during our frozen winter trip!" - Linda, 01/14/2014 (inquire/book) "The lake house was all and more than I expected. It is warm and cozy and yet quite roomy. My family gathered from Massachusetts and Connecticut for a week of relaxation culminating with a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast in the lovely great room overlooking the lake. We enjoyed the fireplaces, hot tub, books, and movies. The kitchen was well equipped, providing everything you need for a holiday feast. We really would love to return, maybe in the summer to enjoy the beautiful decks and waterfront. Thanks Paul and Anne" - Janet H., 12/13/2013 (inquire/book) "Wonderful girls weekend at the lake! Cabin had everything we could need for the perfect weekend. We got to spend time on the lake, canoeing, fishing, sunbathing, & reading! Only complaint was the weekend went by too fast to do everything. Highly, highly recommend this great New Hampshire getaway and will definitely be returning! Thank you Paul & Anne for sharing your cabin home with us!" - Jen C., 06/26/2013 (inquire/book) "Amazing how ONE house and location can have EVERYTHING you would ever want.. Besides the wonderful paddle boat, kayaks and canoe, we found a waffle maker, neat board games and EVEN natural food coloring for a cake we were decorating. It was homey, fun and delightful, a perfect place for a family get together. I would highly recommend it to anyone." - Julie, Sandpoint, ID, Northwest, 05/29/2013 (inquire/book) "Can not go wrong with renting this home. Everything you need with exception to bedding and towels is at your fingertips. Very charming and secluded. Doggies had a good time as well. Lots to do and see. Day trips to bordering states were very nice with lots of shopping and antiqueing. We will be back again next year, as I think we found the perfect home to stay at when visiting up North. Thanks again Paul and Ann" - Don E., Jim Thorpe, PA, 05/16/2013 (inquire/book) "We spent 4th of July weekend here and had a wonderful time. The weather was rather hot, so we spent most of our time in the lake. It was beautiful - clean and warm water. It was great to have so many toys - floats, kayaks, paddle boat, and canoe. The kids all learned to paddle and to fish. My husband loved all the nearby golfing. This was one of the most relaxing vacations we've had. The house is very nice and Paul and Ann provide all the amenities needed." - Diane, Massachusetts and North Carolina, 07/17/10 (inquire/book) "Spent Columbus weekend at The Lake House and had a wonderful time. The weather was so nice we were able to use the paddle boat and canoe. My 2 sons each jump in the water to the delight of the children. This was a great house for us, so much to do and so well equipped. The pictures don't do it justice. Hope to come back again. Bill And Lee" - The Lynch Family, Wrentham, Ma, 10/14/09 (inquire/book) "Paul and Anne! We can't thank you enough for letting us share in your beautiful home. We had an amazing time on our honeymoon at Forest Lake. The house was gorgeous and there was SO much to do. All the little "extras" you have to make people feel at home are awesome. We can't wait to come back next summer (when we can enjoy SWIMMING in the water, as it was a little cold this time!) and we will be recommending your place to EVERYONE we know! Thanks again!" - Shannon and Dan Kirkpatrick, Richmond, Vermont, 10/05/09 (inquire/book) "Thank you Paul & Anne, We had a perfect Labor Day weekend at Forest Lake. We couldn't have found a better place suited for the three generations who gathered together at your house. I have already referred your home to a co-worker who is planning her own family reunion!" - the Kalts, 09/11/09 (inquire/book) "Dear Paul and Anne... Though we live on beautiful Cape Cod, it is always such a treat to escape to the mountains for a week away. Your "retreat house" is a perfect spot for doing just that! With all the comforts (and more) of home, along with a lakeside dock equipped with kayaks and a canoe, the big hot tub after a swim, and a cozy firepit area for an evening gathering, who could want for more? My only complaint was that our week flew by much too quickly!! Thanks for sharing your home-in-the-hills with all of us!" - The Bergstrom's, South Yarmouth, MA, 09/02/09 (inquire/book) "Dear Paul and Anne, We had a fantastic time in your home on Forest Lake. My husbands family came with us - three generations total and a good time was had by all! The house has everything you could ask for and seems just to emit good karma. Some family members stayed longer than planned just because of the good vibes. Both my husband and I put this vacation in the top three of our lives. Thanks again, Robin Hull" - Anonymous, 08/16/09 (inquire/book) "What a sweet retreat this was. The detail listed on the site was great, but when we arrived, we just couldn't believe how much there was to this beautiful home and how much we could do. It has it all and there is plenty of room. Thank you Paul & Anne (owners) for being so great and for thinking of everything. The Heffron Family - Hanover, MA" - Anonymous, 08/12/09 (inquire/book) "This is our second stay at your wonderful Forest Lake house. The first was 12/20-30/2008 and was better than described on your website. Great to be back in NH after 5 years in FL. Lucy, the dog, loved the snow. We just completed our second stay at Forest Lake before, during and after our daughter's wedding at Wilson Pond in Keene. The minute I walked through the front door I felt a peace and calm come over me and felt that all wedding plans and expectations would fall into place, and they did!!! Even the weather cooperated. Our family has decided that we will definitely be "renter repeaters" whenever possible. Thank you Paul and Anne for your wonderful home and your attention to detail. We lacked for nothing. It was great to see everything leafed out and green as opposed to covered in snow back in Dec '08. Beautiful any time of the year. We can't wait to come back! The Whaley Pod" - The Whaley Pod, Weston, FL, 07/05/09 (inquire/book) "A wonderful get-away. We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed for longer. The house is tucked away in New Hampshire alongside a beautiful lake. The house had just the right amount of space for our 3 couple group, though we could have comfortably fit more. We loved the great cathedral ceiling living room/dining area. There is a fully functional & stocked kitchen--we made all of our meals there plus one on the outdoor grill. The outdoor hot-tub was a fun spot, and easily fit 6 peeps. The lake itself entertained us for hours, cayaking/canoeing/paddle-boating. The place is private enough that you have your own space, but is not so remote that you never see neighbors. It was just right for us. Paul & Anne (the owners) were also very responsive to any questions/concerns we had, and were very helpful in all phases of the rental. We hope we can make it back." - Heidi, Boston, MA, 06/03/09 (inquire/book) "This a real gem. We have been renting homes for 30 years on lakes and we would have to say this is one of the best. There is something for everyone to do from the very young to the senior citizen. There ar e kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, bikes, basketball, dvds, hot tub and alot more. Paul and Anne are very hospitable and great to work with. You can have a relaxing time on the deck and hot tub or make it as busy as you want. We would love to rent again. Thank you Paul and Anne for a great long weekend." - sue roe, red bank,nj, 05/13/09 (inquire/book) "We've rented many places over the years and this one was the best -- by far! Our 15 yr. old son loved making fires in the wood stove. The kids' room was a God send with their own tv and vcr. Our kids also loved the ping pong, darts and air hockey in the basement. We took the kayaks out a couple of times and the paddle boat. The whole property was beautifully decorated, very inviting and very cozy. We felt completely at home and will definetly return; perhaps when the weather is a little bit warmer." - Laurie Maloney, Stratford, NJ, 04/15/09 (inquire/book) "We had a wonderful time at the house! We weren't sure it would be as good as described on-line, but it certainly was. The British members of our group commented many times on how wonderfully "kitted out" the place was. We were two couples, two six-year-olds and a teenager and there was more than enough space and things to do for all of us, despite the fact that it rained much of the time. When it wasn't raining we had a wonderful time taking the boats out on the lake. We would love to come back in other seasons. We also wanted to mention how much we appreciated the fact that you compost and recycle. Those are things that are important to us as well." - Lianna and Brian, Boulder, CO, 04/11/09 (inquire/book) "This property was absolutely wonderful - we had two families stay with small children (under age 4) and couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. The house had more than enough amenities and activities to keep both the children and the adults occupied for hours. We look forward to returning next year! Thank you, Paul and Anne, for opening up your home to our group." - Sarah G, Canterbury, CT, 03/31/09 (inquire/book) "Dear Paul & Ann...We had a wonderful time. We were there from Sept. 21-28 and the weather was very nice. Our two cairn terriers loved being out in the woods. The new bathroom just made things more convenient. Thank you so much. Bill & Terri Donahoe" - William Donahoe, Rocky Hill, CT, 11/09/08 (inquire/book) "Perfect place to get away for a weekend. They have everything you'd need, and the deck is FOUR levels, something that is under-represented in the photos. Between the deck that leads to the lake, the spacious house and great room, and the hot tub, you couldn't ask for anything more. Owners are very responsive. Highly recommended." - RJ/Rachel and Friends, Boston, MA, 11/06/08 (inquire/book) "Paul & Anne, Thank you so much for a wonderful October weekend. This house was the perfect place for four friends to cozy up by the fire, wine and dine, hike, canoe, swim (yes, we took a cold dip!), lounge in the hot tub, listen to some good music, read and reconnect. We loved it, we recommend it, and we hope to make this an annual girls getaway weekend. Congratulations on creating such a perfect vacation home." - Ellen Leslie Ruth & Kim, Boston MA, 10/26/08 (inquire/book) "We just returned from a weeks stay at the Harris' lake home and had a great time. We have a niece who lives in Keene, NH and chose this property to be close to her. We enjoyed our stay the home is warm and inviting and large enough so that everyone could have their own "space". The fall foilage was goregous we explored the Cannon Mountain area, went "backroading" through Vermont and spent a day in Gloucester, Mass where we went on the 7 Seas whale watching adventure...fabulous time with over 50 whales sighted that day! Had my 88 year old Mother along and she had no problem walking the steps to the lake. We would certainly reccommend this home to anyone." - Dr. Arnie & Bonnie Jostock, Dawson, Mn, 10/08/08 (inquire/book) "We had a great time at the house. The water was wonderful and the house lived up to our expectations. Everything was clean and there were many amenities. Highly recommend it. Would like to go back." - Debbie & Josue Gaviria, Mahopac , NY, 09/08/08 (inquire/book) "The house was AMAZING. Pictures do not do justice for just how large and cozy the house truely is. After returning from vacation and showing pictures to family and friends, several asked me to forward the link to them. I cannot say enough good things about this house, and look forward to possibly renting again." - Samantha Harris, Bridgewater, MA, 08/27/08 (inquire/book) "Paul & Anne - The Forest Lake house was more than we could have expected. We sent other family members up first as our son was competing in the Little League World Series. We called to see if they made it and the response was a resounding you are going to love this place. The kids enjoyed the lake so much that my brother in law hardly saw them. When we arrived 4 days later I was pleasantly suprised with everything. I couldnt ask for a better end to our summer other than Shelton Winning the World Series but the smiles on the kids faces when we told them we were coming back in 2009 made it all worth it. Thanks again for your well wishes and sucha fabulous home. See you in 2009." - Nick & Jen Searles, Shelton, CT, 08/25/08 (inquire/book) "Wow this house is soooooooo cute i love it its soooo cozy i feel like im at home!" - Courtney and Meghan, Shelton,Ct, 08/21/08 (inquire/book) "my husband is a very picky person. he doesn't like to go out to eat because he cooks better than anybody (so he thinks and who does the clean-up?) so when we arrived at this house he was pleasantly surprised. it had everything he needed to feel like home.(even spices) we will be booking another stay soon. its bigger than the pictures show and if the pink walls offend they are no longer there. it is wonderfully decorated and you feel comfortable no matter what room your in. its a great place to stay thank you paul and anne. see you next yr." - judy and henry baker, w. yarmouth, ma, 05/24/08 (inquire/book) "If, like we did, you are reading these comments to help you decide whether to take a chance on this rental, think no more! Paul and Anne have provided a friendly, warm, beautiful, and incredibly relaxing place to stay. We have stayed twice and will go back. It was too early in the season for swimming, but sitting in the hot tub gazing at the sun (or moon) setting on the lake surely cured what ailed us! And a special feature, for us, is that they welcome pets. Being able to bring our dog with us on vacation made us all happy. Plus, being so close to Keene is fun, because it's a college town so has quite a variety of fun places for dining and shopping." - Mary & Mike Gladue, 04/30/08 (inquire/book) "Paul & Anne - What a great find! Your house was the perfect place to enjoy a week away with family. We were celebrating my parent's 40th anniversary & our 1st anniversary. Great days & nights hanging by the hottub, going for a canoe ride, fishing, walking, sitting in front of the outdoor fireplace, cooking great meals.... It was all just so easy - which was exactly what we all needed! Thanks again!" - Tricia & Joost van Brakel, Norwalk, CT, 10/16/07 (inquire/book) "Dear Anne & Paul, Our week was just wonderful at Forest Lake! The house was fantastic, roomy, well-equipped and cozy. We enjoyed swimming, boating and site-seeing in the surrounding towns. The daily bike rides through the neighborhood and ice cream at "Ricks" was a real treat! But, I have to say, our Yellow Lab, Sophie had the best time of all! Seeing her dive off the dock and fall asleep while we paddled her around the lake in the canoe was priceless! Thanks again for wonderful memories, we hope to return again soon." - Laura & Rob Totaro, Chester, NY, 08/29/07 (inquire/book) "Dear Paul and Anne, We would like to thank you for letting us stay at your wondeful home. We were a little nervous at first because our children have never vacationed at a lake. What an unforgettable experience we had. We only had 1 day of rain, the rest ot the week was beautiful. There was so much to do and we tried to fit everything in. My son Brandon who is 8 got to fish for the first time and was so excited. My daughter Melissa who is 13 kayaked around the whole lake 3 times while we were there. Your home was so comfortable; you truly have put a lot of extra care toward making sure that everything is available for your guests. My daughter and I took a long bike ride one day and saw other homes on the street. Your home is definitely the nicest one around. For anyone considering this home, you won't be disappointed; this house is truly a gem. A name we thought up for your home is THE FORESTLAKE COMPOUND. Thank you again!" - Susan and Glen Corey, Foxboro, Ma, 07/31/07 (inquire/book) "Paul and Anne, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home that my family enjoyed. It was truly lovely. There was so much stuff that anyone could want or need we played a game during the week that we wanted to share with you. We decided that the first person who came up with something they needed that you didn't have at the house (my sister added in duplicate or triplicate) got a prize! Now we thought my mother had won. Mid-way through she needed a needle and thread and although I looked everywhere I couldn't find one. I had one in my travel kit so she got to fix her shorts and win the game!!! The next night I was making a fruit salad and looked for a "melon baller" for the watermelon. I couldn't find one of those either. All through dinner I bemoaned the fact that I could have won if I had only planned on the fruit salad earlier than Mom broke her zipper. Well, the last day, when we were packing to leave, I checked the night stand in the blue bedroom to see if I had left anything and lo and behold if it wasn't a sewing kit in the draw! I whooped and hollered as if I had just won mega bucks! Mom was stripped of her title and prize and I became the new victor. Thank you so much for everything. It was an absolutely fabulous vacation for us! Lucie " - Lucie Swain, Chocorua, NH, 07/15/07 (inquire/book) "We had a great time at your house. The hottub was wonderful, my son-in-law and husband enjoyed the fishing. We all hope to stay again. Thanks Terry and Tom and family" - Terry, 09/19/06 (inquire/book) "This is a wonderful house to stay at. You walk in and immediately feel like one of the family. There are notes around to make your stay as comfortable as possible -- as quickly as possible. Plus, with the fully-outfitted kitchen, water toys, and other recreational amenities, there's something for everyone. There were only 2 of us, and our dog, but there's room for many here. The house is unique, the floorplan is unique, and Paul and Anne have a fun and comfortable way of decorating it. The house is private enough to be quiet and wind-down, but centrally located enough to find places to go. I'd highly recommend this house to anyone and hope to come back for a bigger family reunion in '07." - Karen, S.Salem, NY, 09/06/06 (inquire/book) "We had a fantastic time at Forest Lake. It was definately a home away from home. Every amenity that you could think of was available, and then some. Many Thanks Paul and Anne....We look forward to returning again and again." - Doug Shaw, Houston, Texas, 06/12/06 (inquire/book) "being their was like finding a new discovery everyday. There were odd toys (binocular glasses) and books of all kinds (scary campfire stories---"wheres my toe?")even funny toilet humor found in the bathroom.Behind every cabinet door, in every drawer was a cute sticky message like a tip on how to make an all natural furniture cleaner,or a note of how to make the surround sound pipe through the whole house,or just a heads up note on where to find some nightcrawlers. These people put alot of thought into what their guest would enjoy and you feel so welcome as if your encouraged to enjoy all they have all the way down to the sexy cleaning atire when its time to vacume a spill. It was just wonderful.it would be hard to find a place so welcoming with such wonderful trustworthy owners.Definately a hard find now a days. It's worth every penny and believe me i'm picky.....You will surley be pleased...." - janet hadlock, 06/06/06 (inquire/book) "Dear Paul and Anne, Thank you for sharing your wonderful, cozy, beautiful home with us! Your home had everything anyone could possibly want or need. My husband and I have a 7-year old son who was in heaven from the moment we arrived! He enjoyed fishing, fresh water clamming, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and YES even swimming in the lake - brrr!! The weather was just perfect all week - sunny and mid 70's. What more can you ask for in April? We enjoyed our daily black lab visitor, Jasper, who put our little dachsoodle, Molly, to shame with his super-hero ball fetching in the lake techniques! We truly appreciate your understanding in allowing Molly to join us on vacation - it really makes everything more enjoyable not having to worry about that. Your house is such a perfect retreat - everything the doctor would order and more - quiet, peaceful and so relaxing - we so enjoyed our stay! The jacuzzi was our place to be in the early evenings - ahhh! You think of everything. The free long-distance phone calls "rock" as our son says! He was able to call his Gram in CT three times/day! Thank you too for your phone calls and for letting us know about "turtle island". It was awesome! Never have we seen so many wild turtles! We ventured there twice, docked the boat there, and walked all over - our son just loved these adventures! We did have to dispose of his shoes afterwards - a bit muddy to say the least! Funny though how my husband and I managed to stay clean!) It was great to meet you before we left! We also appreciate you letting us stay on into Friday afternoon - it gave us so much extra time. What more can we say except how soon can we reserve for April, 2007??!! Thanks again Paul and Anne! Kathy, Dennis and Ian Gragnolati Windsor Locks, CT" - Kathy, Dennis and Ian Gragnolati, Windsor Locks, CT, 04/25/06 (inquire/book) "What a wonderful get-away! Although the weather did not cooperative for our weekend at the house, there was still plenty to do in the rain - from sitting in the hot tub to curling up next to the fire to watch movies - we had a great time and would recommend it to families and friends alike." - Anonymous, 04/24/06 (inquire/book) "This place was just what we were looking for. It was a quiet, friendly, spot yet convenient to wonderful restaurants and shopping. Besides the beautiful lake to enjoy, there was a lovely yard and a house full of things to do for every age and taste. The home,so fully equipped with all of the millions of little things you can not live without but can not possible take on vacation, made our vacation perfect!" - leigh cart, miami, florida, 04/13/06 (inquire/book) "You can't find a better value for your money! Paul and Ann think of everything here! From labels, to extra hats, gloves, scarves, to everything a kitchen could possibly need, you are covered. We played some intense (and not so intense!) hockey games, played a lot of board games, and cooked some fantastic meals! It was a superb weekend; I didn't want to return home! I am already looking forward to renting again next year. Huge props to a great experience :)." - Anonymous, 02/24/06 (inquire/book) "Staying at this wonderful cabin close to Keene and Winchester, was the perfect place, in the ideal location and we couldn't have asked for more. With so much to offer, it took us a week to start exploring the surrounding areas. We appreciated having "a home away from home!" The "poo's" say thanks as well." - Donna Viitanen, 12/27/05 (inquire/book) "What a wonderful, relaxing weekend! Gorgeous does not describe the view. We had a great time and were so happy to be able to bring the dogs! We never left the cozy, well equipped house except to take a few walks by the water. Just what we needed before the busy holiday season! Hopefully, we will be back in the spring." - Katherine Nagle, West Haven, CT, 11/21/05 (inquire/book) ""ONE SIZE FITS ALL" - If you are reading these comments to help you decide if this is a good place to stay I can tell you that I am one picky customer and I, and my guests, were very happy with this vacation choice. You know the amenities from what the owner shares in the description. Now, I'll tell you what you don't know...This is not one of those cottages you see on the internet that has another similar cottage 2 feet away; this is a private home, and it is one of the nicer ones in the area. There is so much to do it is difficult to choose. The layout of the property is one that suits many people with many interests, at the same time. I have not spent this much time playing in the water since I was a kid. On the other hand, I was wishing for rain so I could cuddle inside. The magazines, books, cds and dvds are recent and you actually want to view them! The house has a lot of character and is fun to be in. I know, years from now, my guests will say, "Hey, remember the time we stayed at the house on the lake? I really enjoyed myself...." And THAT is the measure of success." - Susan & Maureen Monahan, West Roxbury & Brockton, MA, 09/26/05 (inquire/book) "Comment Text: We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay! The house literally has everything you could ask for (sometimes several of a given item!) The configuration of the house was perfect for extended family (4 adults, 3 children) as one could always find a corner to get away from the crowd. Our kids loved the sleeping porch, as it was like having their own getaway, with a view of the lake! The lake was wonderful for swimming. With the combination of shallow water (that extends fairly far out) and the deeper water around the dock, our kids could play in the water all day, as well as swim or jump off the dock. It really worked well for swimmers of differing skill levels. We drove to many of the small towns around, checking out numerous ice cream stores, and some of us climbed Mt. Monadnock. But mostly, we just enjoyed hanging out in such a beautiful place. An idyllic vacation. " - Jeanne Cole, Chicago Illinois, 09/15/05 (inquire/book) "This lakefront home was a true gem. It contains every conceivable luxury, from heated towel bars to sound system. The many water vehicles make it fun for kids and adults alike. The interior decorator deserves an award. And the kitchen is a dream. 5 stars for this home away from home!" - Joyce DeSanctis, Danvers, MA, 09/01/05 (inquire/book) "I barely know where to start. This place FAR surpasses what you see & read here. Every word is to the ‘T”. The call from Paul shortly after our arrival was truly a wonderful touch and just the beginning of what we were to discover. A welcome 'guest instruction book', everything perfectly labeled, the movies (vcr/dvd), cds, books, games, toys, pots/pans, utensils, the grills, fishing rods, bikes/little tot toys, hot tub, boat collection more than exceeded our expectations. Not to mention the menus, maps, ‘things to do’ brochures. We were limited with our outings due to the dog but so thoughtful. It was so great to go on a vaca with our dog (beagle)---she absolutely loved it---except for the lake (she's a city girl). Meeting Roz was an added pleasure---the housekeeper, warm friendly, very nice. We had friends up for 2/3 days (a couple like us, early 40’s with their 2 year old and another friend with his 19 year old daughter and best friend) and EVERYONE had something to do. IT was amazing! We all (and I mean all of us exc. The 2 yo) loved reading the previous guest comment books and strived to come up with a name for the house----with no real success but we all pretty much had the same adjectives: amazing, incredible, peaceful, tranquil, retreat, oasis, fun, interesting, serene--- my suggestion was “Nestled Niche” ---I could go on. For the owners: thoughtful, GENEROUS, detailed and obviously very proud of their home! The fresh flowers on the table, seemingly a small touch, were really enjoyed. I recut/watered them every 2 days and they still looked good when we left this morning :-(. Can't wait to come back---hopefully 8/06. Thanks again for a truly wonderful enjoyable, relaxing vacation." - Paula, Everett MA, 06/25/05 (inquire/book) "Thanks to the Harris family for sharing your beautiful home with us. Our family had a great time at the lake. There is so much to do at the house that you don't need to leave. Everyone enjoyed the boats, swimming and fishing in the lake. The water was clean and refreshing on those humid days. We were lucky to have all great sunny days with only a couple thunder showers at night. The book and movie collection kept everyone entertained in the evening. I could go on and on about everything we enjoyed. Just pack your clothes, food, sheets and towels!! This place has everything. Thanks for making our first family vacation rental a great experience. The Harris' are great people to work with! Thanks from the Bazzano Family" - Anonymous, 06/13/05 (inquire/book) "If your looking for a relaxing vacation, Paul and Anne's vacation home on Forest Lake is the place to go. My fiance and I had a great time. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub outside and looking at the beautiful view of the lake. Enjoyed all the activities to do right there at the house like fishing on the dock, playing ping pong and darts downstaires, and trying on the crazy hats. A great selection of books to look threw and read one on the hammack outside. Thank you Paul and Anne for a wonderful vacation, can't wait to go back next year." - Anonymous, 04/26/05 (inquire/book) "We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful vacation rental. We were there in the COLD month of Feburary and we were very impressed by how comfortable our stay was. From the surround sound to the gas fireplace, this rental had everything to offer and more. The photos posted on the web don't do it justice, you really have to see it to believe it! No matter what time of the year you stay, this rental has everything you will need for a relaxing get away!" - Joy Lootsma, Deep River, CT, 03/24/05 (inquire/book) "The Harris' home is everything a family in search of relaxation could ask for! It is comfortable, efficient, spacious and situated on a beautiful lot overlooking the lake. We will definately return. Thank you Anne and Paul!!" - Gary and Kathy M., Brockton, Mass., 03/21/05 (inquire/book) "Our week at the Harris home on Forest Lake was incredible. The atmosphere of the house itself was relaxing and so very comfortable. Nothing was missing. Sitting in front of the fire and listening as the Red Sox won the World Series was an added plus! We enjoyed fishing almost everyday and was very pleased with our catch -- the rainbow trout was delicious!! The hiking in the Monadnock region was great...the scenery breathtaking. The area also had many very good restaurants which we enyoyed. We thank Anne and Paul for the use of their "hidden treasure" and look forward to returning again. " - David & Ann Marie Lees, Westfield MA, 11/06/04 (inquire/book) "We had an incredibly wonderful and relaxing vacation at the Harris' lake home. Even though it was cool and/or rained for three days, it gave us time to enjoy the stock and variety of DVD's and books. Loved being right on the lake and especially the lake view! Coming from the city, it was wonderful to just sit in the peacefulness and truly comfortable home. We loved going out on the lake in the rowboat on our last day. It was also great to be able to go down to the main street library and check email. Having a crib was great for our infant (and nice that we didn't have to lug one from CA). For some reason, we also enjoyed cooking while there--I'm thinking it was because we had more time and the beautiful kitchen inspired us. Again, all the little extras such as coffee, detergent, sugar, free long distance and fishing bait, made our stay more comfortable and convenient. We really felt welcomed and cared for by the Harris'. You could tell that they weren't just trying to make money, but also really enjoy having others use their vacation home. I just wish we were closer so that we could rent their home more often." - Pat and Lynette, Los Angeles, CA, 10/15/04 (inquire/book) "We enjoyed staying in your beautiful house. It was a very relaxing week; our first alone time in all too long. While it was too cool to go in the lake, we enjoyed simply sitting on the dock catching some rays. In the evenings, the gas fireplace made whatever we did--read, watch tapes/DVD's, or ...-- much cozier. You were right about FAT CHANCE ANTIQUES. It's not to be missed and the prices are almost too good to be true. The Pickle Festival was a "dilly" of a good time. We feel fortunate to have been here for it. It was an unexpected bonus. We highly recommend the BLUE BIRD RESTAURANT. Not only is it very close to the house, but the menu is extensive, the food and service excellant, and the prices very reasonable. We hope to have the opportunity to return at some future time." - Sam & Carol Bricker, Smithsburg, MD, 09/28/04 (inquire/book) "9/3/2004 What a great week my family had at your lake house. My sister & I decided no more usless x-mas gifts for my elderly parents. We pitched in a rented the lake house, there is something there for everyone. Everyday was spent swimming, fishing, boating reading books on the dock. I took my Mom to the nearby antique shops. We are making this a annual family vacation. Thanks to Paul & Anne for making it such a cozy and relaxing place to be! MASSE FAMILY BELLINGHAM, MA " - Renee Masse, Bellingham, Ma, 09/07/04 (inquire/book) "We had a fantastic time at this cottage. We rented it having seen its listing from the interet and were therefore not 100% sure it would be what we expected -- but it exceeded our expectations! A quite place that truly made me really relax for the first time in a long time. The house came with some many things -- we didn't even get a chance to try out all the things it had to offer. Our young visitors really enjoyed the basement ping pong area and silly hats! I enjoyed just sitting on the doc reading a book while my 6 year old daughter swam and fished all day; I also enjoyed watching a few DVDs, with the fantastic surround sound!" - Amy Rumano, Catonsville, MD, 08/19/04 (inquire/book) "This is a wonderful home with many amenities. We enjoyed the gourmet kitchen and the stereo system. The middle deck was the ultimate place to relax with piped in music from the outdoor speakers and the hammock chair! The children also enjoyed the musical instruments and playing chess on the enclosed porch. It is readily apparent when entering this home that the owners put much effort into making it a very comfortable vacation spot for all who visit." - Casey Family, 08/01/04 (inquire/book) "What a beautiful house and the lake is also pretty to see. It is so peaceful and relaxing for anyone who wants to get away from the city and noisey environment. It has everything that you can think of for entertainment. The Owners even added a new deck and provided lots of information and flyers for sightseeing and things that you can do. Our children and quests have truly enjoyed this rental home. It is such a luxury to have compared to hotel! I would definitely rent from them again. Also, I strongly recommend it to be your next rental house for vacation." - Laurie and Ed Foley, Lovettsville, VA, 07/11/04 (inquire/book) "We had a great time. Enjoyed fishing at the lake. The house is beautiful and very relaxing. Can't wait to come again." - bill whitcher, east haven , ct, 05/18/04 (inquire/book) "If you're looking for a quiet, relaxed getaway, this is the place to be! For our third anniversary, we were looking for more than just a place to change clothes and sleep -we wanted a home away from home, and that's just what we got. We had a leisurely week of reading, watching dvd's, and trying out some new recipes in the kitchen. And while we hadn't expected the mid-March snow, we enjoyed watching if fall - while we stayed nice and toasty next to the gas fireplace. Simply put, it's a wonderful retreat." - Keisha & Matthew Burdick, New Haven, CT, 03/25/04 (inquire/book) "We had a great time on the lake with our 4 kids! While there wasn't snow, we had the whole lake on which to skate. The house was full of games and toys for the kids (they were in a hurry to go back to it each day from Gramma's house!). We enjoyed the music, the books, the kitchen, the view, the quiet, etc..... Just a wonderful place to stay any time of the year - we can't wait to go back!! " - Walt Legg, Woodbridge, VA, 12/31/03 (inquire/book) "My husband, one year old and I spent our fall vacation at the Harris vacation home and it proved to be as relaxing and enjoyable as we had hoped. I was looking forward to the wood burning stove which we found clean, filled and ready to be lit as well as refridgerator and cabinets filled with the necessities. We grocery shopped nearby and stayed close to home enjoying the comfort and convenience of the home and the beauty of lake outside the beautiful glass doors. My husband is employed as a chef and had a blast in the kitchen daily. Whether looking for a summer vacation or a fall getaway, the house is perfect and lake is amazing. We hope to return again soon." - Kristen Morais, New Britain, CT, 12/23/03 (inquire/book) "We loved our week on Forest lake! I think that Terry and Don Gross sum up the experience perfectly!" - kristine & John MacGibbon, Cambridge, MA, 08/18/03 (inquire/book) "Forest Lake is New Hampshire's best kept secret! Thank you Paul & Anne for sharing your piece of heaven with us! The house was beautiful...always something good to peruse and always a comfy chair or coach to curl up in. The property was great...whether biking on the trail, sipping coffee on the deck or enjoying the crystal clear lake. We especially enjoyed the dock and swim platform (the perfect spot for soaking up the sun), the incredible sunsets, and the fish that just kept on biting!!! The surronding area was great, too! Lots of activities, some terrific restaurants, plenty of antique shops, as well. We spent a fantastic week and look forward to returning again and again." - Terry & Don Gross, Warwick, New York, 07/28/03 (inquire/book) "This place was just what we were looking for. It was a quiet, friendly, spot yet convenient to wonderful restaurants and shopping. Besides the beautiful lake to enjoy, there was a lovely yard and a house full of things to do for every age and taste. The home,so fully equipped with all of the millions of little things you can not live without but can not possible take on vacation, made our vacation perfect!" - Leigh Carleton, 07/05/03 (inquire/book)
