The walking trail across the street offers tranquility, ever-changing scenery, wildlife, and an escape from cabin fever. Given the price and the description, we were disappointed with a number of things. Although the home and it's furnishings are very clean and well maintained, it is dated and lacking some comforts. -the bathroom lacked the basic amenities of shampoo & conditioner, and was stocked with only towels and a bottle of shower gel & hand soap. -although the kitchen was comfortable and well stocked with spices and cooking basics, the cabinets were older and it was dark and cramped. "I absolutely loved this house. The location couldn't have been more perfect and it was great for our family vacation. The views were amazing. We constantly saw whales, sea otters, and seals out the window. My daughter spent last summer as an intern on a whale boat in Gloucester, MA, so this was a special treat for her. Some comments have been made about all the little reminders around the house and how it made them feel unwelcome. I feel the total opposite. It is always good to know exactly what they owner expects and why conserving energy, water and recycling is a good thing. This is a special place and I can understand why they want to preserve it for others to enjoy. Would totally return and missed this house the minute I walked out the door. The only downside and this was no big deal to us at all was the few stains on some carpet and sofa. They are white, so that is understandable. The grill is in the courtyard and is uses charcoal, not gas. Who wants charcoal fumes going into the bedrooms? Also one of the many warning notes says that if you do not clean out the ashes from the charcoal grill you will be charged an addition cleaning fee. Needless to say we changed our plans and did not grill. The rental agreement said arrive at 4:00 but when we did we had to wait while the cleaning crew finished up. "My husband, myself and our Mini-Schnauzer Jake spent a week at Siren Song. Our two kids came over for part of the week. We thought that some other friends and family might come by during the week, but they didn't make it. Unfortunately we had paid a cleaning deposit for the maximum capacity. Oh well. Siren Song is located right across the street from the miles of walking paths along the water, which we all (including Jake), loved. It is 1/2 mile walk to Lovers Point. There are sweeping, unabstructed views of Monterey Bay from many places in the home. Siren Song is bright and airy as well as beautifully appointed. If space permitted, I might suggest one more chair in the livingroom area for lounge seating. There is a nice Weber Grill which we took advantage of a couple of times during our stay. The listing stated complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres. The wine was nice, however the hors d'oeuvres consisted of a bag of mircowave popcorn. I have been wanting tobook a stay at Siren Song for a couple of years and we were not disappointed. I was ready to go back again as soon as I got back home. "This was our first experience renting a vacation home. The house was very clean and comfortable. We had an issue with the thermostat which the owner came out immediately and corrected (just needed new batteries). He was very friendly and even gave us some tips on places to eat (which turned out to be great). The beds at the house were very comfortable. A big plus is each room can be configured as two twins or a king. King setup had a nice memory foam topper so no center seam. The location of the house was fantastic. Great views of the bay/ocean during the day and at night we had wonderful views of the lights at Monterey. We enjoyed taking walks in the morning and then again at night on the paths across from the house. The kitchen was nicely done with granite and stainless appliances, and well stocked with cookware. Our negatives are few and not big issues. The kitchen could be a little bigger but we didn't cook too many meals at home so not a big issue. Deck furniture could use a little updating. It was a great place to sit and enjoy the view but chairs weren't comfortable for long. "This house and location turned out to be perfect for 3 couples getting together to catch up and spend some quality time together. The house was comfortable, clean, tastefully decorated, roomy, and it had great views of the bay. From either the floor to ceiling picture windows or the deck; we leisurely started our days checking the bay for marine life sightings (we saw seals, otters, and dolphins); we enjoyed watching the fishermen, scuba divers, joggers, walkers, bicyclist, and classic cars driving the coastal route; and at night (if the fog was not thick) we enjoyed seeing the lights across the bay. You can fill your day checking out the many things to do that are within easy access from the house, taking walks (the coastal walking path is just across from the house), or just relaxing around the house. The house offers many areas to hang out together (the deck facing the bay, the roomy living room, the dining room, or the atrium like deck in the center of the house) The kitchen layout was on the smallish side making it tight to have more than 2 people cooking at a time, but we still were able to prepare some nice meals. The house has many amenities. The "accidents happen honor box", however, did create a little unease that we may break a glass or dish or soil the linens or furniture that would require us to put money in the box to pay for an accident. We thought that was a little odd, but maybe that's why they can afford to have nice things in the rental.
