Our building surrounds a tropical central courtyard and swimming pool. Interior features include stone floors, open spiral staircases, curved walls, striking local paintings and sculptures, and a thatched palapa roof over the third bedroom. There are three lower terraces overlooking 1st Avenue, but the best outdoor area in our unit is the large private rooftop terrace with a plunge tub, a wet bar and small gas grill, and turquoise views of the Caribbean Sea.
We gravitate to the custom kitchen island for food and drink, especially breakfast and lunch. And for happy hour with wine or margaritas, and fresh homemade guacamole and salsa with chips. Our kitchen is well equipped for preparing full dinners as well as lighter meals, with full-size stainless steel gas stove and oven. Chef service is available, too, but we eat most meals at restaurants. The living room provides comfortable seating for 8, and is equipped with cable TV, DVD, and stereo.
The lower floor consists of two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom holds a a queen-sized bed, and of course has a private bathroom. The second bedroom has two twin-sized beds that can be made up as a king.
The third bedroom is a loft above the rooftop terrace that has a double bed and a small balcony with the best view in Villas Sacbe. It uses the bathroom on the main (middle) floor. Finally, the sectional couch in the living room can be used to sleep two, if desired, either in two twin beds or a king.
