If you want to get away from the telephone, TV news, and normal fast paced habits of city life, to unwind and have time to be more in tune with nature, then we know you will fall in love with this beautiful setting. Located along the river Coffee Creek in Northern California's sparsely inhabited Trinity County, 30 air miles west of Mt. Shasta, this majestic retreat offers complete modern living convenience yet quiet, unspoiled wilderness beauty, and access to some great nearby hiking trails, fishing streams and lakes. [If you like details, we are located at 41°5"1'N and 122°42'48"W at an elevation of 2660 feet.] You will stay along Coffee Creek, a year round river, which got its name from the gold rush days when miner's sluice boxes muddied the waters. The grounds are forested with redwoods, cedars, firs, pines, yews, and oak. A large lawn between the Coffee Creek Chalet and river offers plenty of room for croquette, games, or sunbathing. Our back yard is thousands of acres of forest land, and we are surrounded by the Trinity Alps that rise above 8000 feet. The Coffee Creek Chalet is a fully furnished, clean and well maintained home. Many of our personal treasures and belongings make it more a private residence than a rental. Downstairs is a bedroom with queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen, dining area and cathedral ceiling living room with a deck out front. Upstairs is a loft running the length of the house with two twin beds. In the cool evenings you can cozy around the closed air glass front wood burning stove. (Yes, there is a propane heater in case you don't want to build a fire.) On the front deck are two barbeques--propane and briquette. A picnic table located below the deck toward the creek is a good place for an outdoor meal or watching a game of horseshoes. Most folks come here to relax, read, and do nothing. In fact, the hammock in the trees has hosted many afternoon naps. Fishermen find this area a delight. You can walk 50 yards through our meadow lawn to Coffee Creek and catch native rainbow trout, or downstream from us, planters in the Trinity River. Trinity Lake, just ten minutes south, still holds the state record for small mouth bass. There you'll also find large rainbow, German Browns, Kokanee salmon, large mouth bass, and catfish. Click here for current stream fishing conditions. Two nearby marinas rent patio and fishing boats, and there is a boat launch in nearby Trinity Center. For hikers, there are numerous alpine lakes throughout the area where you can catch Brookies, Eagle Lake trout or just spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying nature at her best. Dozens of wilderness hikes offer varying degrees of difficulty. Winter snows provide hundreds of miles of natural trails for cross country skiing and snowmobiling.
